Liara is one of the main reasons as to why I enjoyed Mass Effect so much.

If she's not in the game, then ME3 will be nuthin' to me!

Regardless, I'm confident to the point of certainty that she'll be a squaddie again in ME3.

For me, the beautiful Liara romance was just the icing on the cake. I loved ME 1 from the very beginning, right from the cool menu, and the atmospheric first cutscene. Whereas ME 2 annoyed me almost right from the start, and the terrible writing for Liara's scene was again just a "highlight". <_<

The history of ME2 in my opinion is just a imitation of ME1 story but  done with much less quality at the end of ME2 we are in the same place that we were at the end of ME1. To make things worst they have removed some of the best aspects of ME1 Liara romance is the best exemple of this.

In ME1 you take down one reaper and you are waiting for the rest of them Shepard final speech shows this in ME2 you take down one reaper and you are waiting for the rest them

I actually expected ME2 ending with the Reapers arriving, so I was quite close. Was kind of obvious with most trilogies estructure: set up the universe with a full story with some plot points left open, then set up the third part with the second. Can be done better (ESB) or worse, but it usually goes like this. RPGs have the added problem of dealing with gameplay features such as leveling. Quite worried what excuse they will use for ME3, although not so much as for DA:O.

First time I ever experienced the Liara romance, I was blown away. Seriously, I absolutely adored it and the emotions that resonated within me were incredible. I loved it, and was deeply touched by the emotional depth and the interaction and dialogue between Liara and Shepard. Liara's emotions and feelings, the manner in which the pair fall in love with each other. Beautiful!

The reason I first brought  ME1 was after I had played and completed the half life series (My favorite series in fact) which I got after buying the orange box. After playing HL I just had to quench my thirst for story driven games, so I found this little Sci-fi RPG on sale. After checking reviews of it, I decided to give it a go.

Suffice to say. I got blown away as well.

Even in the first playthrough where I romanced Ashley (never talked to either Liara or Kaidan due to never exploring that part of the Normandy, mostly because how conviently the elevator to enginnering was placed! :P) Then when I replayed. I finally managed to find Liara, and I fell in love with the game even more.

Anyway my point is: The reason i'm such a fan of the Liara romance is because... It's just makes sense. Bioware always said that ME was the players story. And for me that includes the Liara romance, any other just feels like "what if's" so to speak. Maybe it's because how important both Liara and Shepard is to the main story? Or perhaps it's because Liara has the best personality? Or how she represent the in-game universe in both parts? Or maybe it's all the above mentioned!

Sorry I had to say this.

I have always romanced Liara in ME1 I sometimes start a playthrought with the idea of romancing other LI (for diversty) but the moment I see Liara this idea goes away and I find myself again romancing Liara because she is just perfect and her romance history is the best that I have ever seen.

My first experiance with her was kind of an oddity. In my first playthrough I never clued in that she was the last recruitable member (I believe I thought it was Fist and when Wrex killed him, I thought I screwed it upImage IPB). So when I finally found my way to Therum it was the last mission world. I got the dialouge of her hallucinating. It was funny, but I never really got to know her. I'm always a completionist in RPGs, so my next playthroughs always picked her up first. Since my second playthrough I've fell in love with her. (first playhrough I was romancless, of course my other 13 romanced Liara Image IPB)

What instantly made me click with her was that she is everything I find appealing in real women, smart, bookish, shy, well spoken, strong personality and as Kaidan said about Rahna, "beautiful, but not stuck up about it". Her eyes, voice, and that lovely shade of blue just sealed the dealImage IPB.

LATE EDIT: and freckles, can't forget the freckels!Image IPB

You mean you never noticed that the "grayed out" squadmate ("blued out" actually ^_^) looks nothing like Fist at all?

I did about half way through. When I started playing I had real crappy TV. After a while I assumed it was a human women I just happened to miss. Couldn't really tell it was an asari at the time...

Heh! I imagine if you beat Feros as your first story mission, you'd think Shiala was the game's recruitable asari.

Anybody else love Liara's defiance when she refuses to go with the krogan on Therum? Her strength, and assertiveness in jeopardising her own safety in order to do the right thing?

Whatever it is, you are not getting it from me!

But of course :D I also love how she "flares up" her biotics just before the fight starts. Too bad she just sits through the actual fight, but I assume that's just for game mechanics reasons (that and they'd die way too fast if she participated).

Even weakened and tired by the time she spent in the prothean bubble she shows great courage and strength.

Mmm, my favorite scene (besides the locker scene of course). That look she gives you after you say "She'll stay with us, thanks", always makes me give out one helluva SQUEEE!!!!!Image IPB. You could see her trust in Shepard blossoming right then and there. A very powerful scene.

Yeah, I think so...imagine how easy that battle would be with Liara hurling Singularities.

I can understand Liara not fighting at all during the battle against the krogan battlemaster and the geth accompanying him. Liara has been trapped in that Prothean security device for at least a few days, and therefore would be extremely fatigued and suffering with a depleted blood sugar level. She'd be exhausted!

The fact that she still reacts with such defiance and strength to the krogan is awesome, though.

I loved it too!  Loved it so much, after beating ME1 for the first time (and romancing Liara) I fired up a new game right away so I could experince it again.   And again, and again, and again....

Truly awesome!

They would't die that fast at that time. liara sucks at the begining but as she levels up she becomes very very powerful and lvl 60 she is like uber destructive.

*Walks into room and goes to kill some mercs, Liara uses sig and everyone is flying around the room and dies.*
Me: HOLY SH*T!

To tell the truth, when I fired up my second playthough, I was actually missing Liara badly during the game's prologue! I looked at Liara's spot in the medbay storage area, saw that Liara's seat was empty and felt so sad and melancholic. I'd gotten used to having Liara around and had gotten so attached to her. I missed her badly during the game's beginning!

I can't! I hang around the storage room because it's Liara's area, and I miss her so much!

I avoid all Citadel sidequests, and head off to Therum ASAP.
