Her compassionate nature was the initial motivation for her search for Feron, too. Kind of got a little out of control, there. Well, we still love her, despite her Waltersization!

Well Feron is one of her only boyfriends.

That's very true. It's precisely due to her caring, empathetic and compassionate nature that she's experiencing such guilt over handing Shepard's corpse to Cerberus, and guilt over Feron's sacrifice. The manner in which her compassion causes these two negative emotions, and how they in turn are fuelling her desire to off the Shadow Broker makes it at least somewhat believeable for her character. It just needs more clarification and elaboration!

As I've said before, her compassion is a wonderful trait that is inherent to her character. I don't see that ever being compromised.

Yep, she feels sad for and sympathises with Kaidan because the poor guy has just been rejected by Shepard.

I do love that screenshot!

I plan on getting better and brighter shots of her there in my current ME1 run...I will have to string poor Kaidan along to get them :(

Oh, and I just re-read all four issues of Redemption for the first time in months (I've only read each one once).  It seems that Liara does just go off on her own to look for Shepard's body.

Feron tells her that he was paid by the SB becuase "The Shadow Broker knew Shepard's friends would be searching.  I was simply supposed to lead you (Liara) away"

I also found this quote intereting....

Liara (to Feron):  Feron, I know it may be a strange concept for your line of work, but nobody ever said and information trader just had to work for money.

Hmmmm...it seems that Liara thinks info traders can work for a greater good and not just $$.

@ Kraidy Um, really? Lol, the comic never gave me that impression. They weren't even friends. He was just a thorn in her side who couldn't even properly thwart her efforts to hunt down Shepard's body, even when being paid to. Not very smooth.

I knew that something gave me the impression that Liara began her search for Shepard's body of her own accord. Guess I'd just read Redemption, and subconciously came to accept the fact without realising it!

What I like to believe is that, in the aftermath of Shepard's death, a grieving and inconsolable Liara would then resolve to find Shepard's corpse, and put things right. Discover the fate of her friend/lover, as she was not entirely sure as to whether Shepard was dead or not. Liara would have then possibly began to make tentative enquiries via the information network as to there whereabouts and status of Shepard. Simultaneously, TIM would have then began making his own enquiries as to Shepard's location, given that he wants to find the corpse too. He would have seen Liara, someone who he knows is one of Shepard's closest allies, is also attempting to find Shepard's corpse and realise that she is someone he can manipulate and use. He would have then tipped Liara off to meet someone on Omega (Feron) and the rest is history.

Liara's line about information brokers is also very interesting indeed. She believes that trading information is not necessarily an inherently bad thing, and can be used for some good.

Is it not possible that when she's not hunting the Shadow Broker on Illium, she is also helping people find estranged children, informing people of the status of loved ones etc? I think that's very believeable for Liara's character.

Liara could also use her information network to help assist police forces in solving unsolved crimes...

I think she'd do something like that!

Well, we do know she's not in it for the money.

Though, then we see her strong-arming that guy for not paying for info. Eeek!

He was just some deadbeat who attempted to take goods without paying. That's theft!

Whilst Liara isn't being forced into threatening and intimidating some clients, which she hates, I like to think that Liara is using her information network and power to do good.

I think it's just b/c of the way her character was designed in ME2...they wanted us to think she was just in it for the money ('it pays the bills') at first. We then find out why she really became an info broker by the last conversation.

I think the writers wanted us to be shocked and perhaps even a little mistrusting of Liara at first, until she finally opens up...then we are to be empathetic towards her. Unfortunately, that dialog is so easy to miss!

Yep, that's what I've said before. BW actually intends to initially deceive the player into believeing that something has gone seriously wrong with Liara, that they're taking her down their tired, old and cliched AriBastila route. They deliberately make it seem that way.

However, if you then actually listen to what Liara says, and read between the lines and analyse her dialogue, you realise that is not the case. Especially when she then opens up. That's what BW intend to do, deceive the player into thinking that they're taking her down the AriBastila route, when I believe that's not the case. It's to shock the player, and make it as jarring as possible.

Unfortunately, alot of people have fallen for it!

I look at Liara's situation right now kinda like a novel: We've got to chapter 2 and it ended horribly and much like a cliffhanger. But until the whole story is finished we can only speculate on what will happen. Personally, I think she will be justified in the 3rd game and the story arc will complete itself. It looks bad right now, but the story is far from over.

(OK I've been drinking so I hope that made sense. It did in my head anyway)

Nah, it makes sense, muskett. I agree with you.

Although I can understand and somewhat justify Liara hunting the Shadow Broker as it is, if it turns out that Liara was aware that it was assisting the Reapers then alot of people will sympathise with and understand her plight alot more.

I think this would make a very good twist. I also think it would make an unforgettable tie-in with DLC/ME3. And last but not least it makes sense! The evidence is there! I hope BW looks at her and see's an unkillable resource, instead of just an other squaddie.

Ashley, Kaidan, Garrus, Wrex and Tali were beginning to feel more than a little uncomfortable when the debriefing session had slowly transformed into a flirting fest between the two beautiful ladies standing before them.
