In a recent poll conducted by J that asked the participants to select which female squadmate they believe has the most expressive face, Jack beat Liara.

Meh, I still think Liara should have won!

Tali won the first time, of course.  Then, an identical poll was issued, this time without the option to vote for Tali.

I also think think that she should have won in ME1 she has the most expressive face by far IMO, and in ME2 there is no face as expressive as Liara when she tell Shepard that was her handing his body to cerebus and there are other very good Liara's expressions in ME2 that are ruined for the light.

Definitely. I love the way her eyebrows raise and she has this pained and worried expression etched out on her face as she says "I barely escaped with my own life". Her relieved and warm smile when she thanks Shepard, and expresses fear that she would hate her is also beautiful. I love it!

Actually, Jack won both of my polls.  Tali came in second in the first one....Liara came in second in the next one.

And Miri came third :wizard: Liara, Miri and Jack. Best faces in the game by far!

I just met Liara in my current game of ME2. The hug is so much better and more natural than the kiss. I have a much easier time believing a non-romanced Liara has feelings for Shepard than a romanced one. I'm also beginning to believe the theory that she's addicted to some drug or other. Her voice is oddly monotone and she looks drugged.

I've also picked up the Miranda/Liara story again. Crazy. I must be.

As I've said before, I don't actually mind the kiss. To me, it shows that there's an extra dynamic to Liara's guilt and fear if she's Shepard's lover. These negative emotions and her self-loathing are alot deeper when her and Shepard were in a romantic relationship. That's why she's more uncomfortable with being physically intimate when she's Shepard's LI.

Oh yeah, I think Liara is taking stimulants in order to remain awake. Look at how her pupils are dilated, for one.

Glad to hear you're continuing your story, jtav!

Yeah, the kiss is all angsty!  I've grown to like it, though.
It's interesting you think that's it's easier to believe non-romanced Liara has feelings for Shep than romanced Liara does.  It's all because of the kiss?

As for the drug use, I wouldn't be surprised.  This would explain her behavior, her funky pupils, and would be very believable.   She's very determined to take down the SB...I would be surprised if she wasn't taking any uppers to extend her search into the late hours of the night.  I've always thought she was taking some, I never thought about whether she was an addict or not.  That could be an interesting character arc, if handled properly.  They've never dealt with drug addiction before in any of their games (if I can recall correctly).

Oh, and good luck with the Miranda/Liara story!

Wonder if Liara is also taking anti-depressants or anti-anxiety drugs?

Gawd, what a morbid discussion. Interesting, though.

Perhaps...I'm not sure if asari neurochemistry is similar to humans.  Do they get depressed like we do?  It definitely seems like they can get very sad (there are many times we see sad/crying/mourning asari) but can it turn into full blown depression?  I'd guess that yes, they could, given the similarities between them and humans.
