I think jib is right. They've already said no new squadmates. And having her join would be a waste of a perfectly good recruitment mission. I think the SB will be taken down during ME3, with the DLC setting the stage.

That's what I think...the SB will not be killed in DLC (that would be dumb), but it will be a stage setter for the SB becoming a villain in ME3.

The only thing I expect the DLC to accomplish is that Liara/Shep will find Feron, dead or alive.  Plus, they will grab some more data needed in the future.  If you don't do the DLC, then Feron just dies and you don't have the data.  This might make a part of ME3 a little more difficult, but not much.  Also, not playing the DLC would mean you would be in the dark about why the SB is an enemy in ME3, so Liara would have to fill those players in on this.

I still think the boss battle will be with Tazzik, and not the SB.   He's been introduced (via the comic) as some total bad a**, so I think this would be a rewarding enough boss battle.

Actually, they could have Liara participate in the DLC in a similar fashion to Garrus in his recruitment mission. Present and engaged in combat, but not actually part of the squad. They could do that, I suppose.

I do think a temporary squadmate role is possible, though.

If it's implemented the gameplay would not be a problem and Liara has overload in ME1.

Sadly, I don't think there will be any romance content in the DLC.  I can see Bioware reasoning that it wouldn't be economically efficient to include extra content that many players won't even see in a downloadable package that most players probably won't even buy.  The tragedy is that they're totally wrong.  The people who are most likely to buy Liara DLC are the ones who romanced her.  If they put out the DLC, and teased at some kind of romantic moment, they'd double their sales.

I think most players will buy it, actually, the problem is just that most players don't romance Liara.  Thus, why add content that most won't see?

Plus, lots of people dumped Liara's butt for another in ME2.  I don't think they want to deal with all of those repurcussions until ME3, so they will leave all the romance stuff out until then.

Yeah, she did have it.  That could be her bonus power.  Give her Warp for biotic damage potential, and something like throw for CC, then she'd be quite powerful.  Overpowered, perhaps, but if she's your only squad mate then this is fine.

Is it not more likely though that the SB could be eliminated in Liara's content if it's a substantial xPac that's marketed as being almost vital to understanding and enjoying the run up to and story prior to ME3? If they market it as being a major, story linking expansion pack then the SB could be eliminated in that content.

Ashley or Kaidan could help Liara out too. If they are also a temp squaddie, Liara might not need overload, as they can provide this (Kaidan would have Overload, Ash Disruptor Ammo).

I think they could make a balanced ME2 party with both Liara/Kaidan and Liara/Ash.

Beliving in the Liara audio files and assuming that they have the trilogy all planed since the begining the SB will not have a big role in ME3 if he can be killed in a side mission he can also be killed in a DLC. And seenig that Liara was in control of his contacts thats means that the one that was killed was the real SB and not a fake one.

Yeah! Incorporate the surviving Alliance soldier so that all fans of the ME1 LIs are satiated and have their favourite character receive the attention they crave. I'd love that.

Oh, and I also believe that Tazzik will be the boss battle for the Liara DLC. It's pretty obvious, and I'm looking forward to battling him!

I don't see how the Liara DLC being optional content necessarily precludes there being any choices or consequences included. If you import a ME2 save that doesn't feature the Liara DLC, why not make default choices for the player, similar to a non-import ME2 save?

And in the rest of the expansion Liara and Ashley/Kaiden will go after TIM. Like this both Liara and the Virmire survivor are ready to join Shepard in ME3.

I think the SB thing was thought up later, actually. In ME, he's presented as ruthless but not malevolent. In ME2, he's the font of all evil in the galaxy. My theory is that he was originally going to have TIM's role, but that changed at some point.

That's very true...the deleted audio files show that the original intention was for the Shadow Broker to be completely absent from ME3 as he was already dead. I know that they may have rewritten the entire story arc, but maybe the SB won't have a huge role in ME3 after all?

I'm just thinking about what they did with ME1 DLC...your descision changed a news announcement.

It does seem like they are putting more time into ME2 DLC...hopefully this also means that choices made in this DLC (in Overlord, Liara DLC, etc.) will afffect ME3 more so than one little email or news report.  It obviously can't be a very large effect, but something more substantial than emails would be nice.

Exactly. Plus, this is the last chapter in the trilogy too. Chud did say this is when we'll see the fruits and consequences of our choices. This could also apply to the Liara DLC. I hope so!

Because ME2 is a game of the trilogy and with much more importance than a single DLC, and the ME1 DLC also don't have any impact in ME2, pitty I would like to have Kate as squadmate. And default choices are all bad. And I don't want to have Shepard and Liara relationship warmed in ME3 just because there was a DLC that feature their story.

Yeah, it could be the set-up for their ME3 recruitment too.

Liara could have:

Throw
Warp
Passive
Bonus biotic power

Kaidan could have:

Overload
Pull
Passive
Bonus biotic/tech power

Ashley could have:

Disrupter Ammo
Concussive Shot
Passive
Bonus defense power like Immunity

I love speculating on Liara's powers/weapons in the ME2 system, btw. It's awesome.

Liara could have pistols and heavy pistols, Kaidan could have pistols and SMGs, and Ashley could have assault rifles and shotguns.

Wonder what Liara's class will be in ME2 or 3?

Asari Scientist again? Asari Broker?

I like the asari scientist and then will evolve to asari savant or asari genius, a litle like Mordin.

That's the big problem.  Those that do not purchase the DLC would then miss out on what is arguably the defining moment (and the most moving one) in the Liara/Shep relationship....the romance reconcilliation post-ME2.

I was thinking that maybe it could evolve into either Asari Archaeologist or Asari Explorer. That would be cool!
