I think Colonist Shepard can be compared to Liara, but not Earthborn.

Earthborn never had parents to love and lose.

I just find it hilarious that the fact that someone else may have suffered in a similar fashion can discredit and trivialise a person's own feelings of loss and grief.

What's the logic in that?

I'd argue it's better to be an orphan and never know your parents than to seeing your own mother brainwashed and dying in agony whilst you're powerless to help her.

It's more painful too.

You're trivializing Liara's resolve. You think she's just some "poor girl," yet she is more than capable of handling the trauma, because she's strong. Also, it didn't seem to bother her after you talk to her about Benezia on the Normandy, so the only conclusion is that she was rational and realistic of her mother's demise.

I like to pretend she never lost Shepard. I like to pretend ME 2 was just a bad dream for her and me both. <_<

You're preaching to the converted here. I know she's strong and resilient. I know she's capable of handling the pain.

When I say "poor girl" I mean the fact that she's experiencing this pain and torment in the first place. You're putting words into my mouth by saying that I'm insinuating that she isn't capable of handling that pain. I know full well she is. I'm just sympathising with her because she's experiencing this trauma in the first place. Surely you understand that?

I would first say that after playing ME3.

Or in denial, or it had not sunk yet, or they had been apart long enough that it wouldn´t hurt as much as if they had been in good terms and in regular contact.

Why? No matter how good ME 3 might be, it doesn't change ME 2 one bit.

You'll find most people here respect how strong and mature she is about the whole thing. Concern and pity are two different things, BTW. Showing concern for her and the loss of someone close to her is something people that care about her will do.

True. But depending on how ME3 is handled. ME2 can either be disaterous or a decent chapter with some major flaws.

This.

You were putting words into my mouth. I said "poor girl" regarding Liara because I sympathise with her suffering, and feel sorry for what she's having to endure. Not for one second do I doubt that she's capable of handling it, or that she needs to be coddled like a child. She's very emotionally strong and resilient.

I'm just expression concern, sympathy and compassion regarding the character I love and care about. That's all.

To be honest, I prefer doing Feros first and Therum second. Shepard doesn't know Liara yet, and it makes more sense to try and save the colony ASAP (even though they're still grumpy about you "taking too long"). I also prefer to bring lots of shotguns there, rather than see those Thorian creepos puke all over Liara; and all that Feros leveling means she can start kicking ass right after you rescue her.

I am eternally grateful to you for taking these screenshots for me! I can't get over how good Kate looks with the new 'do. I think Liara loves it too!

Makes more sense to rescue the VIP first, the colony can hold out. But if you lose Liara it's game over.

In the beginning you don't really know why you really need her, or whether she's even friendly...

Wrex and Tali are great against thorians, especially with hammerhead rounds. Between punching the crap out of every thorian creeper in range and the help of shotguns, Feros is much easier than some people make it out to be.

You know she has information on the protheans which could come in handy, and it's better to be the one to have that knowlegde instead of Saren. Besides she might also hold information on Benezia. And she is only one person while the colony is you know.. A colony!

Therefor Rescuing Liara is a higher priority than investigateing the colony.

Actually, I think both Udina and Anderson outline Liara's expertise in the Protheans, and how she could be a valuable tool for Saren in his hunt for the Conduit should he manage to capture her. There's only an inkling of suspicion of her being in league with Saren due to the fact that she's Benezia's daughter.

I suppose I like thinking that we need to stop Saren from getting his hands on a renowned Prothean expert ASAP. If he does and he locates the Conduit, then we're all screwed.
