I'll take Liara, but the last time I saw Shiala, se had some sort of illness and I don't want to be around her if she is contagious.

She's not ill, her skin turned green because of side effects from the Thorian spores.

I don't know if Shiala can meld with anyone because she said that her biotics are instable and since she uses them to meld it could be dangerous.

See... now I've given this some thought! What if you thought Liara dumped you and you romanced Miranda in ME2 and then all of a sudden you discover that Liara did not dump you. That would be interesting though I wouldn't want to speculate any further. And there is a history there between Liara and Miranda.

BW tried very hard to lead players astray from the ME LIs, and did a pretty good job of it by hacking the crap out of Liara & Ash/Kaidens characters....

I'm not saying I want to see it happen because I don't. I'm only saying that as viable characters go... those three are the only ones I see it working with for varied reasons.

I agree wholeheartedly that BW hacked the S**T out of Liara and that is the main reason I will not buy ME3 without some reassurance that their romance will be added and closure brought to it. They could make this an epic romance or they could let it go to the dogs as they did with Revan and Bastila. To be honest... my faith in BW is not at an exceptionally high level and I am not holdin gout my hope. A little... but not much.

I'm just saying that as characters go... Liara, Miranda and Shepard is the only paring I see as working in this regard. I have a published novel, three Star Wars fanfics and I'm currently working on a Sci-Fi/Fantasy series that is on Chapter 74, Book Four of a Six Book series. (Maybe more). I have many different types of relationships in them that have taken many different roads to get to the end result. My two lead male characters (father and son) have six and five wives and mates respectively. They are Lycans... and that is where th eterm mate comes in.) I'm a hopeless romantic so all of those involved in the relationships have the same feelings for each other. A combination of destiny driven as well as spiritual. The father and his wives have been together for nearly thirty years now, so it's not unrealistic to me who writes these types of things. If they were any different in their type of character I would not think this but based on the way they are displayed within the framework of the game that is what I think.

Just my two cents.

J what you're suggesting gives ammunition to those people who erroneously claim that Liara is "immature" and that she has a mere crush on Shepard, throwing herself at her b/c she's unable to handle her feelings and isn't emotionally capable enough to endure whatever trials and tribulations that are thrown at her. Consider the way in which Liara describes the asari union in ME1, and how it shows just how much Shepard means to her and how much trust and love is required in order for Liara to even think about entering the union with Shep. She means that much to her, and truly does see her relationships as being deep and something very special, especially in Shepard's case considering that Liara melds with her, when we know how much the asari union means to her.

Now, considering how much Shepard means to Liara when romanced, how would Liara having a fling with another be consistent with that? It works to make Liara appear emotionally weak and unstable, shallow, flighty and insincere with regards to her feelings as they were displayed in ME1. I like to think Liara is more capable and controlled that that, and wouldn't compromise or betray her love for Shepard in that manner. She's alot stronger and more mature than it is suggested if she were to do what you have speculated on. I think the same with Kaidan and the Citadel doctor. It wouldn't feel right if he were conflicted over his love for Shepard or this unnamed person. He's stronger than that, I think. Likewise with Liara.

Another thing, how does this decrease Shepard's Sue-ness? To me, it only increases it further. :P Shepard, completely in control of her emotions and able to handle everything that's thrown at her, whilst poor sweet Liara gets confused and jumps into the arms of another b/c she can't handle what she has endured, and compromises her feelings and what she was committed to. To me, it doesn't work.

Don't get me wrong, I agree wholeheartedly that inserting something like this into relationships increases the drama and angst, and also makes them more compelling to a certain extent. It hurts, but it's interesting. I just don't think it works in Liara's case, as it seems way OOC and as if you're damning her with the very criticisms that her detractors throw at her. There's a reason as to why I specify that when I ship Liara with Kaidan or Ashley or whoever, neither character is with Shepard. Considering the content of their respective romances, it seems way OOC. I have no problem with a Liara that has been rejected by Shepard finding love elsewhere. I'd applaud her for that, as it shows she can move on and displays her strength. But it's just a romanced Liara that has a fling on the side that makes me feel a little uneasy.

That's what I think, anyway. Don't hate me, J.:P

Hmm, In retrospect I should have worded my posts better.

I don't think there could be any potential romance with Feron. I'd like to think Liara made a friend in Feron not a lover. I was more using him as an example.

Ugh, don't get me wrong, I don't want to support a relationship between Liara and someone else. But, has anyone seen Cast away? I can see small similarities. Long story short, Tom Hanks is pressumed dead and his wife moves on. Again, I don't in anyway support this, but if it were to happen and Liara were to ultimately come back to Shepard. I think it could really reaffirm their love for each other and prove just how deep the relationship really is. IF  done right.

EDIT: OK, again I really can't stress enough I don't want this. If a dev reads this please ignore it!
