Yes, it would give ammunition to people that hate Liara and wan't to erroneously say X, Y, and Z about her....who cares about them? If not this, they'd find something else to hate on her for. Of course Shepard means the world to Liara, but she's not wishy-washy or immature or a 'ho' or whatever if she would have these feelings....they are normal and real people have them all the time, and we've seen stuff like this before in movies and such.
Of course, but are they consistent with Liara's characterisation? Do they make sense regarding everything she says about the asari union in ME1, and therefore showing how much Shepard means to her? Are we not then making judgements regarding her emotional maturity, or insinuating that she's somewhat shallow or unable to control her thoughts her feelings? I don't believe any of this to be the case. Liara is capable and confident. Shepard means that much to her. She's mature, responsible and level-headed enough to not merely jump into someone's arms, especially when she still absolutely adores the person she's fallen deeply in love with. It just doesn't corollate with her characterisation, IMO.
Are you for rlz? People have flings with people they do not love all the time, even when they are in love with another. And I don't think this would make her seem shallow, unstable, or would undercut the things she has said in ME1 either.
Betraying the trust and love of the person that she has fallen deeply in love for, trivialising said love and acting on what is nothing more than emotions that she herself does not believe to be true? Yeah, I think that undercuts what is said in ME1. Liara isn't someone who's like that, especially considering how much it's shown she cares for and loves Shepard in ME1. She's very much level-headed, and in control of her emotions.
But, Shepard can jump into the arms of another too. Are you saying that Shepard's who take another LI in ME2 are shallow, unstable, flighty, not in control of their emotions, etc.?
No, I'd argue that it meant that the ME1 LIs didn't mean that much to that individual Shepard in the first place, and they never really took much stock of their previous relationship.
So, basically you just don't like it because of the haters.....screw the haters! I just won't see Liara as 'weak'' if something like this happens.
No! I hate it because I see it as being horribly OOC for Liara, and something she plain would not do. She's stronger than that, and more in control of everything she's feeling and experiencing.
