But it's delivered in such a dry, matter of fact and witty way. The other squadmate is fully away that Liara's scientific field is archaeology. She responds that way b/c she's cracking a joke in her own unique and hilarious way!

I didn't find it that funny. :P  And I still don't think she were attempting to crack a joke.

I saw something interesting on another thread.
They were listing their top 5 favorite female characters of all time.
I'll start:

1.Bastila Shan.....I'm a sucker for the whole "spoiled goody-two shoes who gets all Sith on everybody's asses"
2.Liara/Tali....Too close to call. It really is.
3. Silk Fox....Nuff said.
4.Morrigan---she scares me and I like that.
5. Aribeth from NWN----My second gaming crush so she deserves a mention.

I know it's off topic but I like seeing the different lists people do.

To stay on-topic with that, I'll just say that Liara is my second favourite. I think only the Jaheira romance in BG 2 was better.

The Jaheira romance was one of my all-time faves!!

I think Liara's still my fave for some reason, though the Jaheira romance had more content and was executed much much better.

Liara's without a doubt my favourite video game romance, and one of my favourite female video game characters by far. I adore her. Other favourite game ladies are Midna, Samus Aran, The Boss and Heather Mason.

Just imagine it. Every time Liara and Shepard is together, Legion will be around the corner. Always going out of hide when they are not looking to get more data. And he won't stop until he have finally reached a consensus!

Off-topic: I always found it slightly weird in dawn of war how the dinosaur which the Tau can recruit could go toe-to-toe with the eldar avatar.

It can go toe-to-toe with the Necron monolith, the Land Raider, the Dais of Destruction, the Living Saint ect...
They did that for balance.

I haven't played alot of story driven games really. The only other aside from ME and KOTOR (and soon DA) are the half-life series and Bioshock.

You know, I do think people underestimate the size and strength of Liara's fanbase a little. I've seen many say "Most people have cheated and moved on from Liara, they don't care and are apathetic to her now". I don't think this is the case. She still maintains a sizeable and devoted fanbase. Considering the relatively small amount of screentime she received in ME2, I think that's quite impressive.

The Liara romance is of course a bit more atmospheric with its full voice acting and the 3D cutscenes. Yet as far as the writing and the integration into the main story are concerned, the Jaheira romance still beats everything, including DA.
