I'm a guy whose FemSheps all love Liara (it's not just the sex, mind -- I'm not a complete pig over hereB)), and I agree with everything that you and Stubbs wrote. The only question I have is...how certain are you that a Liara-based expansion is coming for ME2?
Sitting on the PC is a file that says "liara_dlc_something". We know there are high hopes for a Liara based DLC in the future. A full expansion? I think that's people thinking the Shadow Broker plot is going to be really really big.
I am just going to put a reason for a full Liara Expansion out there.
Well, one of my reasons for it being a full expansion would be because of the actual ME2 storyline. They have to continue it before ME3 or else it will make the ME3 storyline harder to write, as the Collectors being destroyed doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.
Now, because of the comic book series and how Liara stole Shepard's body, we know the SB is involved in some type of "war" with Liara. The SB has all of the advantages you could imagine, but why doesn't he act?
The SB might even know about the truth about the Collectors and the Reapers, if he knows this, why does he think it would be in his best interest to aid in the destruction of organic life? It could be argued that because he didn't seem to know in the comic book, and he doesn't know now. But, the SB has been around longer then people can imagine, how could he not have some sort of idea? He hasn't survived this long not asking questions and forcing answers.
Is the SB a Reaper himself? It could be possible, only an A.I could analyze and remember all the information in an entire galaxy. He could even be an ancient remnant of a long forgotten civilization.
The SB obviously knows Shepard is alive, if Anderson could figure it out, then the SB obviously should know.
Why is the SB even care about Liara? Maybe to get to Shepard? If he still wants Shepard, he could be in cahoots with the Reapers. Why else would he still want to capture him/her?
There would still be a reason to explain why the Reapers want Shepard captured, to exact revenge? Or something else?
The SB should know it wasn't even Liara who screwed his plans up, it was Cerberus. It would be pretty easy for him to figure out it was the one organization with the technology to revive someone.
A Liara Expansion could actually be a full expansion if BioWare wanted to get ready for ME3, the SB seems to be involved in something that is bad, even for his standards. Liara is against him, and the SB seems to be playing with her like a pawn. The SB and Cerberus should have some bad-blood with each other after TIM stole Shepard.
I would think the Alliance is involved, Ashley/Kaidan said that the Alliance thought it was Cerberus destroying the colonies. That would probably be investigating Cerberus and stumble across some information concerning all of the events I have just talked about, that would give a reason for Ashley/Kaidan to be in the Expansion, they would be the one or the head of a team sent to investigate everything that has happened.
Even the fact that Liara couldn't seem to talk to Shepard, is there another organization involved against Cerberus and the SB?
In summary, the storyline would consist of Cerberus, Shepard, Liara, The Alliance, The SB, and another unknown organization.
The entire Liara situation could very well be turned into or already been thought of as a deep, fufilling , emotional storyline instead of just rescuing Feron.
I would think that if BioWare wanted to go all out with it as a Expansion, to set the story before ME3, they could turn it into an amazing 15+ hour adventure set after the storyline of ME2. They could probably make it better then the actual ME2 storyline. (best part of it would be the emotional, romantic conversations with Liara, and her staying on the Normandy with Shepard afterward, lol).
I imagine BioWare would want to play off of all of these unanswered questions.
I swear, I will write the entire thing for BioWare if they want, lol.
Hell, Rockstar managed to make The Ballad of Gay Tony about the diamond subplot of GTA IV.
