Mac couldn't write a convincing "troubled" scenario, so he just decided to pretend the romance never happened. The animation team realized that there was NO romantice dialogue whatsoever, so they had to scramble and figure out a way to convey a rocky relationship witout any vocal cues. It's crappy and contrived writing, in this case on Shepard's part, in order to maintain the status quo of the "troubled second act". That's what it is!

Yeah, people forget she's dealt with a lot of crap in a very very short amount of time. I doubt she has faced many hardships previous to this, and would have lived a comfortable and charmed life her entire youth. She has been introduced to the darkness in the galaxy in a brief but intense 'crash course'.

From what you've said before though, J, I do get the impression that you believe that the whole situation with Liara in ME2 does have incredible potential if it's treated to the exposition it deserved, and refined and clarified in that manner. If BioWare did so, whether it's in the Liara DLC or whatever, then it could be very interesting and compelling.
It had potential...everything bad had potential. That's why a botching is even considered a 'botching' in the first place...you are messing up something that could have been good.

I agree that Liara have been through a lot in a very very short amount of time but I don't think that her childhood was that easy as a pure blood asari she probably had to deal with the preconception her whole life and even in her professional life she is ignored because of her age this is very fruttrating knowing that you are right and that people don't belive in you just because you are young.

What can I say, I am a little bias to Walters.......... simply because he wrote one of my fav characters and gave him the best cameo scene in the game. That shows me Walters could have made Liara's scene amazing, he just had too many important thing and did't really care. It's the sad bitter truth.

But even the Wrex cameo had glarring oversights (Tali/Garrus not acknowlegded more specificly). Just kinda shows of that the only proper cameo's were Gianna's and Shiala's.

Yeah, but that's nothing like the crap she's had to deal with recently. Being teased for being a pureblood sucks, so does having your worked ignored just due to age. But that's minor compared to finding out that the extinct species you had been studying for 50 years was wiped out by a race of sentient machines that are trying to come back to do the same thing. Or, watching your indoctrinated mother die right in front of you.

I know, but some people complain about the direction itself, and how they don't like what they perceive "Liara is becoming". That's not ever seeing the potential in Liara's ME2 character and story arc, that's thinking it's bad by default. I feel that you and I are one of the same in that we do not mind Liara's character direction and what they're attempting to do with her, but just feel that the execution is extremely poor.

That does not bug me at all, it would be nice but with Wrex, his cameo made sence, it was well-done, it was touching and he was still important. (Also no one said anything to those two you listed at all

Ratz it's only bad because he decided to give Shepard the worse dialog ever. I can keep the same cameo scene but write good dialog for Shepard and it would have been better. Characters that stay the same after two years, and ho through what Liara did and stay the same would have sucked and been borining. i love change, but Shepard acted like a dead door.

It was certainly good enough. But I'll still consider the fact that Wrex doesn't say anything to Garrus or Tali an large oversight. Or one the two squadmembers not saying anything to Wrex for that sake. It's somewhat jarring.

Shepard during that scene= sh*t
results= The scene failed hard and is poked at because of Shepard not Liara.
