Walters could if he would have put work into that scene. or he gave Liara to someone else since he was busy with too many things on his plate.

Sorry, man.... you'll never get me to say anything nice about that guy.

What can I say, I am a little bias to Walters.......... simply because he wrote one of my fav characters and gave him the best cameo scene in the game. That shows me Walters could have made Liara's scene amazing, he just had too many important thing and did't really care. It's the sad bitter truth.

But even the Wrex cameo had glarring oversights (Tali/Garrus not acknowlegded more specificly). Just kinda shows of that the only proper cameo's were Gianna's and Shiala's.

That does not bug me at all, it would be nice but with Wrex, his cameo made sence, it was well-done, it was touching and he was still important. (Also no one said anything to those two you listed at all :P)

It was certainly good enough. But I'll still consider the fact that Wrex doesn't say anything to Garrus or Tali an large oversight. Or one the two squadmembers not saying anything to Wrex for that sake. It's somewhat jarring.

Yes but look at the character Wrex and how it was done. It was by far the best cameo in the game. Wrex was diffrent, but was also the same at the same time and not to mention Shepard had good dialog. In fact what is sad is Shepard can comfort Wrex, but not Liara

This is Walters solution.

1: He eithr works harder on the character.
2: He gets Drew to write her then email Walters the script.
3: Walters gives a writer who can do Liara the character.

On the whole, I prefer Mac's work to Drew's in everything except his handling of Liara. I don't think he hates her. I think he bit off more than he could chew and didn't devote the necessary time to her character development to make it convincing. She has the SB plot and the events of ME2 would be impossible without her.

Yeah, but that's nothing like the crap she's had to deal with recently.   Being teased for being a pureblood sucks, so does having your worked ignored just due to age.  But that's minor compared to finding out that the extinct species you had been studying for 50 years was wiped out by a race of sentient machines that are trying to come back to do the same thing.  Or, watching your indoctrinated mother die right in front of you.

I know I was just saying that her childhood was not that easy. The things that she has gonne throught since she joined Shepard are much worse no doubt about that. But I don't think that she dicover what happened to the protheans had a bad effect on her, discover that the fate of the protheans was her goal and she must have know that for a civilization as powerfull as the protheans disapear from a moment to the other something bad must have happened, but of course discover the reapers and know that they are trying to do what the did to the protheans have affected her.

I also agree with the sentiments that Liara's Break the Cutie began the second she left Therum. Violently ripped from the comfortable life she's always known and enjoyed. Thrust into battle to help save the entire galaxy from extinction of all sapient organic life. Discovers that the race of people she's devoted 50 years of her life to studying were systematically wiped out by a race of sentient machines. Watched her mother die in absolute agony after succumbing to indoctrination. Begins to experience just how dirty, dangerous and corrupt the seedy, underhanded side of the galaxy is.

All this is BEFORE the crap Liara has to endure in ME2 even happens. She's been through a hell of a lot.

Same jtav. Mac did a bad job with Liara, we all know that but he is still a good writer. Also your right, Walters had way too much and instead of taking it easy he kept on taking more projects and more and more to the point where he only focused on certain things and did a half-ass job on the other stuff.

Which is why UI welcome the change. It's relistic she would change but it sucks that when the old Liara does come out and spills her guts to Shepard in ME2, Shepard is

Oh, and Walters? I don't think he actively hates Liara. I just think he's somewhat ignorant about her character. Couple that with the poor execution in ME2, and you've basically almost got the perfect storm.

About Liara writing it must have another explanation than lack of time or because to much projects IMO almost everyone could do a beter job with that sceane in a very short period of time.

Liara is not the type of character Walters writes, right there, that's asking for a sh*t storm.

Nope. Walters had a team of writers he had to lead, he had to write the cameo scenes, he had to do Aria, rewrite TIM, he had Garrus, he had the story and the plot, he had the comic plus as lead writer he also had alot of interviews. Remember the ME writing team also had four new writers so he had to work with them too.

This is way too much stuff for man, to the point where he did not focus on the main plot, the ME LI and got sloppy with the plotholes.

What mass effect characters (and I mean ALL of them) did the diffrent writers write? Mac wrote Wrex and Drew wrote Liara but what other characters did the and the other writers make?
