Haa haaa!  She still could be, for all we know :innocent:

Every damn asari in the game has been speculated to be Liara's other parent!

Imagine if they really did decide to go all Vader/Luke with Liara and the Shadow Broker? Eeeeek!

It would be pretty stupid!

For one, how could Benezia have ever met and entered a relationship with the Shadow Broker, a completely secretive entity shrouded in mystery? Wouldn't work!

That's possible...something that minute would have been absolutely meaningless to her at the time, however.  Perhaps there are times when she remembers some of these little things, and they make sense to her now given her knowlege of the Reapers.

Very, very true. In a similar fashion, when I first played through ME1 and encountered Ian Newstead in the tunnels on Feros, what he was saying sounded like the rantings of a madman. I thought that he had completely lost the plot. However, when I now play the game, I understand what he is saying and why he is acting in that manner, as I am aware of the Thorian and it's effects.

This could also be the case with Liara and the possible clues she uncovered regarding the Reaper genocide of the Protheans. What seemed like the ramblings of an eccentric cult when she first read them, warning of "ancient sentient starships" and "evil machines" now probably makes sense, as she fully understands the full extent of the Reaper invasion.

She might have experienced something that finally put everything together in the warning that Protheans sent out through the beacons. Liara and Shepard both knew that the warning in the beacon was pieced together by the two beacons plus the Cipher. So, there may have been another beacon that contained more information than the previous two, which Liara could've discovered herself.

Possible candidates for Liara's "father":

- Samara (unlikely considering she can only give birth to Ardat-Yakshi?)

- Matriarch Aethyta

- Shiala? (Highly unlikely IMO, she seems way too young)

Any other leads/clues?

Samara would give birth to Ardat-Yakshi, but I don't think an asari she fathered could become one, as the mother (Benezia) would provide the genetics.  Thus, offspring fathered by Samara should be clean.

Oh, Aria is another candidate, and if it was her, this would explain why Benezia didn't want Liara to have anything to do with her, as she's a criminal.

Of course, also an asari we haven't met yet!

A very delayed Hello to CM!

The thread has been well. Not much new around here unfortunely.

Like I've said before, I still think the whole issue surrounding Liara's other parent is going to turn out to be a Chekov's Gun, and could possibly play a large story role or be a significant plot point in the future. You don't introduce something like that about a core character like Liara, before then leaving it unresolved and the whole issue hanging in the background. Especially as, via Matriarch Aethyta, we're subtley reminded of it and it's maintained in our subconcious minds.

"Benezia never told you what happend to your father..."

"Shepard told me enough...he told me she passed away!"

"No.....I...am your father.."

"No...no....that's not true....that's impossible!"

"Search your feelings, you know it to be true!"

"NOOOOOOOOOOOO"

Yeah, kinda awkward.

The second the Shadow Broker's chair spins around, and it's revealed she's an asari, I just know that they're going to do something like that!

I actually suspect they do something like that the Shadow Broker is actually an AI of some sort, or..well...something we don't suspect, like a Hannar or something.

"This one is not pleased with your search for this one Liara."
