Maybe. But what if the decision makers say "Nonsense. What're you even talking about? You're not going to implement this stuff, and that's that." They will of course obey.

It won't be outright removed, but it could be toned down in comparison to the others.

Unlikely. The situation with Liara's romance is different though as it already exists, and was established in ME1. What supposedly happened with this suit was that he or she prevented the inclusion of new s/s romances. There's a big difference there.

I still think that this is all a load of hot air, though, and that people are getting worried over nothing. Liara's romance will continue in ME3.

See, now that is what I think is a rational and reasonable fear. That Liara's romance will be toned down and somewhat more shallow. I hope that they don't do anything like this.

Yes, but what does that mean?

Like I said, they could greatly 'tone down' the romance to avoid controversy.  No physical intimacy may be shown between her and Shepard (I'm not talking about a sex scene like in ME1, but not even have an ME2 style 'love scene' for her....sort of what happened with Kelly).   The romance could just be acknowledged in dialog and very vaguely.  
This could be easy to do if they do not make Liara a squad mate and have her be the quest giver.

Agreed, and that's what I said above. I think this is a more reasonable and rational fear. I don't think it will ever happen, though.

The romances in ME 2 were already toned down and more shallow, and I'm not even talking about the love scene. If you go even further for the Liara romance, what's left? Maybe a short kiss and an additional 500 credits as reward?

Nah, BioWare wouldn't go so far. Oh, wait...

I think that the Liara romance will of course be continued in ME3 and it will have a very good content for most part of it the only place where it will be reduced will be in the love sceane I really doubt that we will see something like the ME1 love sceane but it will not only be in Liara romance in ME2 we can see that they reduced the content of the love sceane a lot compared to ME1. Because in ME1 the problem was in the love sceane not in the rest of the romance.

Doubling the romance would have 1000 credits.
And the kiss would have a minimum 2-5 seconds of tounge.
If you don't believe me then check there is a system for these things.

In ME2, we don't even see lip contact...how do we even know there was a kiss? Perhaps Liara just nudged Shepard's face with her nose or something?

It is irrelevant as to the kiss content-quality in ME2.
The ME3 kiss will be at least 5-10 seconds long with 2-5 seconds of tongue.
So it has been since the dawn of the plan.

They could do what they did in Jade Empire and have the FemShep/Liara kiss scene fade to black before we see any mouth contact.
