Having listened to that audio file, yes, I'm inclined to agree with you. But getting our hopes up over something that's still very much a rumour isn't wise.
Audio files??? Link please.

Cheers, J.
I actually think it would've been pretty cool to start the game as Legion, and partnering up with Liara.
But I'm also glad that they've expanded Liara's role in finding Shepard's body so it feels like a "greater" part of the trilogy, so to speak.

If it's a one time thing or very occasional, I don't think it's that big a deal. They had some character flips in KOTOR and it was still Revan's story.
And it sounds more interesting than what they did. I mean, really, ME2's overall story arc is so underwhelming compared to ME1s.
It also feels like parts of the game that should have been there, weren't, like the game isn't quite complete. I think it needed a few more months.

I don't know if I'm more pessimistic than usual but I wonder if we expect to much? Don't think BW will give us heaven, I'm afraid it can be a speed job that just will make us more disappointed in the end, but if they already started and will work on it until the comic is done we may get something decent... I hope. A bad DLC can just as well be the last nail in the coffin as non at all for me at least.
On a happy note I just killed Sovereign Yay!!

It seems to me that they spent so much time perfecting the combat and technical aspects of the game (which admittingly they did) they cut a lot of story and character stuff.

That is precisely how I felt about it. I've heard (I think it was on these boards somewhere, actually) that the level cap in ME2 is 30 because the level cap in ME3 will be 60 and they're not going to futz around with the gaming mechanics this time. Which would be awesome - I really like the mechanics, and that would give them time to actually ... have the story branch and go different places due to decisions in ME1/ME2. Which means they could, in theory, if they found it in their hearts, Actually Continue Romances. I'd really like that.

Might mean a faster turnaround this time, as well. Like TOB/BGII. And TOB did handle the romance continuation well.
Pity Gaider's probably on DA2, but maybe they could get him to explain to them how to continue a romance.
I just hope they both fix the romances and make the choices in ME1/2 about other issues actually matter. I want a really different ending/feeling depending on my choices.

Funny you mentioned this. I was thinking about BG2 the other day and how the expansion seamlessly continued from the original game (especially with the romances). If they don't touch the game engine much, ME3 could be thought of as a 'huge expansion pack' where they could focus on the story and continuing with developing the surviving crew members from ME1 and ME2 instead of adding a whole new squad.

Considering DA:O:A I not sure Mr. Gaider is all that great with continuing romances either.

I have heard rumours that ME3 at the earliest could be Q1 2011. I doubt it somehow, but there's no smoke without fire....
