I guess it could be anyone else in the galaxy though, but no matter what, I want Shepard to be there for Liara when she meets her "Father".
I do as well. I just hope we don't have to kill this asari, whoever she is.

I second this. Our poor asari has already been through more than enough. We need something good to happen to Liara for once, we need to comfort herLittledoom wrote...
Now that would be bad, both her parents dead by her and Sheps hand. I vote for a happy reunion if there is going to be one. The poor girl have had enough heartache in her life as it is.

I don't think we would have to kill her father, but doing that would make me extremely sad.Littledoom wrote...

The father reunion can't be all sunshine and bunnies though. Remember that Liara's father wanted nothing to do with her and Benezia after Liara's birth for some reason. There has to be some angst but I do hope it ends happily for both Liara and this other parent.

Yeah, it makes everything more realistic when there are proper emotions for the proper situations.jlb524 wrote...

Of course Liara should be upset, but I would assume there will probably be a whole story to it and reasons for everything that happened.
I definitely don't want Shepard to say, "I'll talk to you later Liara" again.
Even the actual reunion scene could have easily been successful if BW had put emotions (and actual dialogue for Shepard) into it.

It would make for an emotional time for Shepard and Liara though.WilliamShatner wrote...
It was just backstory for Liara and to flesh out her situation with her mother. Not every part of someone's backstory has to catch up with them.

BioWare may go somewhere with it in ME3.

I wasn't thinking BioWare would make an entire massive plot out of it or anything, but it would be nice to have at least a ten or fifteen minute emotional conversation about it with Liara and her "father". Or several conversations spread out would probably be what would happen.Yeled wrote...

Maybe, but I doubt we'll see that level of detail. Unless its Liara's "loyalty" mission.

I hope we can do away with the loyalty missions in ME3. They took up way too much time that could have been spent writing the actual story.

Liara will already be on board the Normandy at the end of the Expansion (and stay in Shep's cabin).

The loyalty missions were fine. The developers just shouldn't have allowed these side quests to take away from the main story. If they had been given the time that a game such as this needs, they could have done a proper story + the loyalty side quests. But with an insufficient time limit forced upon them, they should just have reduced the number of companions. It was completely unnecessary from the start to have so many companions. It didn't just take away from the main story, it also very obviously reduced the amount of depth and interaction that every companion got.
At times, this game feels as if it were BioWare's first try. Which still puzzles me. It can't all be explained with time constraints.
