Liara is the hottest piece of electronic tail that ever existed.

Sorry to be crude, but Liara is amazing.

I definitely want her to be real more than my ex. Liara makes me want to be a paragon!

We haven't seen Tali yet Posted Image.

She could be a vixen/dark elf type that puts some heat on Liara for the heart of our Shepard...

Liara will already be on board the Normandy at the end of the Expansion (and stay in Shep's cabin).

Sometimes I wonder how you manage to stay so positive.  Posted Image

Yeah, sometimes I wonder that myself, lol.
It helps when you can see there is a logical series of events that should happen.
Liara also helps in my positive thinking

One thing I always found to help when thinking about positivity is that you don't have to be happy or giddy or anything like that, you just have to keep looking for answers to your problems and never give up (you can take a break, but just don't give up).
Which, in my opinion, is truly what being positive means.

I can agree with that, without Liara, ME would have been just another good RPG.
Liara brought it to a whole other level.

Don't get me wrong, I'm for Liara through and through. But the idea of space drow is... tempting. But liara is blue, and those thing son the back of her head kind of resemble pointed ears. So that's good enough for me. Plus she's adorable. Even if she is a little psycho at the moment.

I think the squad IS the main story, or recruiting them that is.

Certainly has to be treated that way, or you end up with what as the main story? A few 5 minute conversations with TIM, four 30 minute combat zones, and a one hour finale? <_<

That is why I believe MOST of the squad will be available to fight with Shepard in ME 3 as it makes no sense to RECRUIT THE BEST IN THE GALAXY and then they all go retire or take extended vacation while the Reapers are coming.

I'm unsure about that. It never made any logical sense to trash the ME 1 companions and bring in so many new. Especially with the time constraints, it would've been the obvious choice to rely on existing assets. The ONLY explanation I can see is the wish to not put new players at a disadvantage. But then, why wouldn't they do that again with ME 3? The existing fans are taken for granted, that much is obvious, so from that point of view there's no real downside to it. I think some ME 2 companions will certainly return, and some will be trashed and replaced with new ones. <_<

For the same reason I doubt we will see Liara as a crew member, to stay on topic. I wish it was different, but I'd already be content if she played an important role and if we were getting a proper conclusion to the romance. Right now though, I wouldn't count on or trust in anything as far as BioWare is concerned.

Liara is great, without her Shepard would be goo feeding the human Reaper.

When you think about it, there aren't really that many ME 1 companions to return. Ashley/Kaiden and maybe Liara? Garrus and Tali hopefully stay, and in total we are only added one or two old characters with room for perhaps a few new ones. It is clear some of the ME 2 cast IS leaving, they say so themselves (Samara, Zaeed, possibly Jack and a few others). Plenty of room for Liara, Tali, Garrus, and Ashley/Kaiden...but we'll see.

Unfortunately you may be right. But I was obsessing over the Mass Effect wiki today and I was reading Liara's entry, and I don't know why I never realized it but, she's the only character that doesn't have the potential to die, aside from whoever you choose to survive Virmire.

I felt like an idiot for not having realized that.

There was also that Best Buy chat before the realease, where they were saying how they needed the ME1 characters to take a back seat for now so that they could live through the second game. Meanwhile, everybody has the potential to die during ME2. It's a bit of a head-scratcher.

Would they really take the time to implement characters into a game if, depending on the player, they might not even have lived to see the third game? On one hand they have to, because they can't shaft the players who made it through with everybody. But on the other hand, if a big part of the game time revolves around potentially dead characters, then you could have a bunch of people missing out on some serious game time, and resulting in a very short play through. Maybe they'll get cameos. It'll kind of suck to just have someone pop in for a visit and then leave for the rest of the game, but if it means spending more time with your old crew, I wouldn't mind the trade-off.

This is all very confusing, and it'll be interesting to see how BW works their magic to get everything to fit together. But considering Liara is starring in a little 4-part comic, and she's the only one that can survive the events of ME1 and 2 (aside from whoever you chose to save on Virmire), she's gotta have some kind of larger role.

Thoughts, anybody? Even though I pretty much just restated what everybody else has already said. -.-

Well, with that revelation you already have a better resume to be a game designer than the ME2 development team.

I just totally hate the idea of the suicide mission. I'm not opposed to recruiting new people but it seems like a dumb thing to do when they could all die at the end of the game. I think the suicide mission itself was lackluster and it was way too easy to have everyone survive it.

My ideal ME2 would have been having the plot pick up right after ME1. You and your squad are further investigating the Reaper threat while also recruiting new people to further expand your squad resources. Your missions then would have consisted of either further researching the Reaper/Collector threat (like taking a trip to Ilos again) or recruiting these new squad mates. None of these squad mates can die either, which removes worries about their continuity into ME3. I'm not sure how the ending would work for my idea...maybe scratch the final boss fight/suicide mission and just have a huge revelation about the Reapers at the end. A cliffhanger that would've set up ME3 would've been nice.

Agreed with what you said.  There's got to be a reason why Liara is the only character who can't die out of all the crew fro ME1 and 2.  I really feel that she's going to play a huge role in ME3 and I think BW has planned this from the start, or at least knew she'd be an important character in the story.

SOME Shepards. :( Tali does not romance female Shepards.

Liara does, on the other hand, and given she's the only one available to lesbian or bisexual female Shepards... ^_^

Agreed.  ME1 left us with the Reapers still out there but trapped in Dark Space.  ME2 should have been about them trying to get out of dark space, Shepard trying to stop them, and ultimately failing at the end, leading into ME3.

Now I guess they are just going to sort of appear out of nowhere in ME3.  So much for being trapped in dark space and ME1 having a purpose at all. <_<
