Since we clearly see two other squadmates in the screenshots previously provided, so unless Bioware do some serious and dramatic rewiring to the underlying game controls, she won't be a squadmate.
So, will she still tag along as a fully AI controlled character? If so, will she be invincible? Or will it be like a long escort mission? (good gosh, no!)
Even if she is invicible (which I have a feeling would come in handy on Insanity), I suspect that there would be many occasions where she would get stuck on the geometry. But then, you have squadmates magically appearing next to you all the time in the main game, so I suppose that point is rather moot.

She'll probably "disappear" during the actual fighting, doing things unseen, but communicating via radio, as with the firing teams on the suicide mission. At points during the DLC, like during cutscenes, she'll appear again.

I'm trying to find it, but Christina once twittered that she was working on a DLC that changed the gameplay, or added a new feature. My guess is it might be 3 squad member gameplay.
If not, then she might just follow like Garrus on his recruit mission.

Three squadmates, and Shepard? Samara, Liara and Jack, All-Ladies Biotic Squad, and my Swiss Army Knife Sentinel MaleShep sounds very good to me.

My guess is it will be like the Garrus recruit mission. I'm very interesed in how this thinng will trigger. Logic would dictate that it should trigger sometime after Liara's hacking mission, but ya never know.

I thought it had something to do with making biotics not suck against enemies with defenses, thus making runs on higher difficulties with classes that use biotics, primarily the Adept, easier.

That a different one, or maybe the same thing. Who knows.

That could work. And she wouldn't have to be alone, either. I'm assuming we're going to be assaulting a Shadow Broker base of some sort. Liara could be with her own people while Shepard's team attack from another angle. And they meet up during a cinematic.

I personally think shell either take part in compat as an invincible AI NPC, or simply be removed from the combat doing different things, while its Shepard and co who deal with the combat. Liara will simply be there for the key moments.
Honestly though, Im not even concerned about the dynanics of Liaras role in terms of combat. Im far more worried about the potential implications this DLC will have. Hopefully theres none, and this is a pleasant piece of fanservice, hopefully lighting the way for some VS love. I certainly would appreciate that. Hopefully it doesnt affect the idea many people have had that Liara and the VS are sure to return as squadmates for ME3, because ultimately thats still what I think is most important. A cool DLC for Liara isnt going to mean much if shes still only getting another minor support role in ME3.
But its a long wait to find out for sure unfortunately.

To be fair, the Garrus recruit mission is an example of a great take off on the escort mission. So, while they typically suck, they can be handled quite well. That said, I doubt LotSB will be an escort mission. I always read it as Liara of the Shadow Broker.

one thing is if she does not stick around on the ship how are they going to explain that I mean her only reason for not coming was hunting for the sb well if he is out of the way will be interesting to see how they explain her not coming back till me3 full time

My thoughts are that she isn't going to be a squad mate after the DLC. She'll be just a temp character till her story is finished. The missions will be like with Overlord, where once you start it, you're stuck till it's finished. I imagine it'll start on Illium, where Liara sends you a message, asking to meet her right away. Once you arrive, you'll find Liara being attacked by the Shadow Broker troops, and try to get her off world. Once that's done, Liara tells you she believes she's finally found the Shadow Broker, but needs to do this on her own, since this requires stealth. The Normandy will cause too much attention. Shepard then convinces her to allow him to help, and she agrees, making the rest of the DLC just Shepard and Liara, going to different worlds in a small ship, trying to find the Shadow Broker.
