I agree. The trend of the trivialization of Liara's character needs to end.
Do you mean, just with this Shepard finding the answers for her stuff or is there also more you are referring to?

I suppose you could get this mission from the get go, having to explore some planet for whatever and then uncover a lead to the location of the SB. Putting it in the beginning like that still negates the Ilium dialog, unless BW intends to change that scene.
Hmmm, I'm reluctant to believe that will be the case. Every single DLC so far has been availble immediately after Freedom's Progress. This is obviously not possible with Liara's DLC, as the player is unable to visit Illium until later in the game. That is another reason as to why I believe this DLC will be post-suicide mission.

Didn't they state that, canonically, this DLC takes place after the suicide mission? If so, TIM and Cerberus dont need to be involved at all with Shepard receiving the mission.

The DLC should demand that the player have completed both the suicide mission and Liara's task on Illium or it wouldn't make any sense at all.

Yeah, everyone should have at least one save in which they have completed the suicide mission by now. Unless you are just picking the game up for the first time.....then you just can't play it until you finish the game for the first time, no big deal.

Also screwing up Liara's mission on Illium (giving wrong target) should handicap you in the DLC (extra enemies? Perhaps some stealthy assasins?).

I've actually considered this in the past, and I believe that it will be simply handwaved away if the player flubbed up the Observer quest. If that is the case, then when you meet Liara Nyxeris will probably already be dead, with Liara mentioning to Shepard that she was able to deduce that Nyxeris was a double agent working for the Shadow Broker, and eliminate her accordingly.

Shepard should just die for not helping Liara.

Shepard: Okay Liara, how were you able to deduce Nyxeris was the Observer?
Liara: Well, Miss HerpDerp, I noticed that she was...

I don't get how some ultra-paragon players refuse to do Liara's mission for being "renegade", but have no problem hacking all those money terminals on Horizon which belongs to people who not yet have been collected.

I already knew Nyxeris information was not completly correct when she mentioned a Vorcha being on the possible observer targets.
A Vorcha in the information buisness? Yeah right!

The whole quest was kind of odd, to be honest. The vorcha was a 'trader' of some sort, I think.

There are no ultra paragons in ME2.
Shepard is working for a known terrorist organisation like cerberus because, like all the idiots on his ship, hes railroaded into thinking "cerberus r teh get results and doesnt afraid of anything - it r meaningless dat dey r have rep of mass murdering terrorist organisation".
Any Shepard who turns down Liaras mission on "moral" grounds is a hypocrite in light of ME2s forced cerberus connections basically.
