Unfortunately, it's too easy to miss that tiny little part where she breaks down and tells you she couldn't let you go. And when she opens with a line, quoting her mother almost word for word, well, can you blame them? She's definitely obsessed with hunting down SB right now, let's just hope that hasn't totally consumed her. Or at least give us a kickass scene and/or conversation where we snap her out of it.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...
I have to say, reading some people's comments in other topics baffles me somewhat. "Liara is going down the dark path" "Becoming like her mother" etc etc. Do they not read between the lines? Liara has suffered a lot of hurt in the two years, and she isn't exactly enjoying what she is doing. She's still the same under this facade she's built, that of the same kind, caring and compassionate individual who's had a seriously tough time and been put in a horrible situation.
She needs sympathy, and help.
Maybe with some private time up in the Commander's quarters.

She is supposed to join us on the Normandy?
I think the general hope is they'll do DLCs for Liara and Ash/Kaiden where they take up residence on the ship prior to ME3.
Nice catch. Hopefully it will lead to something.

This is after Shepard asks her if she could do her work on the Normandy (I think).

To me though, the quoting of Benezia was just another example of the awkward and socially inept Liara. She's trying to threaten the guy, and has to resort to using something she heard her mother say to sound menacing.
And failing, as it just sounds too much like sweet Liara trying to be badass.

When I walked in and she said that, I was like, "O_o uh, what"
And then she turns around like a giddy schoolgirl and was like "Shepard!" And I was like D'awww, it's still the same Liara somewhere in there

That struck me. People seem to miss how sorrowful and regretful Liara is that she can't go with Shepard. I mean, look at her facial expression there. Tells it's own story.

Same thing with all the people that "moved on" because the ME1 LI's were so obviously not interested in them anymore. They see what they want to. Just have people who thinks she needs to be redeemed, or can't do something that is no different than what your other squadmates are doing without going all angsty.

They do the same thing with Ashley and Kaiden. You have people wanting an interrupt to murder Ashley/Kaiden on Horizon for daring to have an opinion of their own or responsibilites that don't revolve around Shepard.

The Liara reunion saddens me too, but for entirely different reasons. At first, it's because I was afraid of what she had become and the fact that you can't be intimate with her, and Liara only opens up briefly at the end. Now, after analysing it and reading between the lines, plus reading Redemption, it saddens me because Liara is clearly suffering, and needs help. She's struggling to come to terms with her own emotions and guilt, which is why I'm hoping for something intimate in the DLC. I don't think I could wait until ME3 to help her and watch her suffer for all that time. :-(

I mean, she isn't even all that old (in Asari lifespan) and she has already had to deal with more terrible emotions and experiences then a lot of people do in their entire lives.
I love her so much, I don't want to see her suffer.
I want to have a emotional conversation and comfort Liara right now.
I believe the Liara Expansion is coming after the fourth comic book though, so I can wait.

That is precisely what Ashley/Kaiden are doing for Anderson while you were dead. I couldn't honestly dispute any of the points they raised. You don't know what Cerberus did to you or what your good buddy TIM has been telling everyone about you.Crimmsonwind wrote...

The whole situation on Horizon was setup by TIM. TIM leaked to the Alliance that Shepard was alive and working with Cerberus. Ashley/Kaiden don't know you died, TIM let the Alliance think you went rogue and have been working with Cerberus this whole time. How much do you want to bet that photos of Shepard on Freedom's Progess were leaked to the Alliance to "prove" Shepard and Cerberus were somehow involved in the disappearing colonies? It is pretty nice that those defense turrets have a minor recurring software glitch that prevents them from stopping the Collector ship from landing, but that EDI can fix in seconds from orbit to drive them off once Shepard has the information TIM wants.

I don't know if you've read any of the novels or not, but in the beginning of Ascension there is a prologue with TIM thinking to himself. Its only a few pages, but after reading that there was absolutely no question whatsoever that TIM is a complete and utter megalomaniac. And that isn't hyperbole, he is totally off his rocker.Crimmsonwind wrote...

One cool thing I noticed with Ashley on Horizon too the last time, is that she has a cool red stripe down the right arm of her armor now like Shepard has with being special forces. I definitely do think that after Shepard dies that Ashley/Kaiden then become Anderson's protege and go to person like Shepard was.
