If you weren't an LI, she gives you less money for completing her hacking missions. That's all I'm aware of (besides the hug/kiss distinction).

As well as that and what J says, Liara does "act" differently too. She smiles at Shepard alot more if she is your LI, and also when she tells you she can't come with you, she says it apologetically instead of snappily if she's not your LI.
Overall, there's less frowning from Liara and a little more warmth if she's your LI.

I can't remember, doe she still say the whole "I couldn't let you go" part if you didn't romance her? I don't think she said that to me when I used my Kaidan Shep, but I don't know if that's because I screwed up the dialogue and inadvertently skipped it or not.jlb524 wrote...

She says that line regardless. I think it should just be for a Shepard that romanced her.

Now I'll go check out that song.
I like this pic too!
Liara's deep in thought. She looks sad and retrospective.
Also, I can't wait to get Liara back on board the Normandy again!
Oh, all the enthusiasm here is causing me to ... clarify something about my last post -- while I can wait for Liara to be aboard the Normandy so long as she's happier than she is now... I really would not object to her being aboard all the time and working at the spare desk in Shepard's cabin and sleeping in Shepard's bed and yes, I kinda had to go back and change both instances of 'Shepard's' over from 'my' because I can't help but get a little possessive where :wub:LiLi:wub: is concerned and ... I'll stop now.

Well then I really am appalled by the lack of LI recognition there. I thought that was a little tip of the hat to our romance carrying over. Huh.
Well that's BS. I demand reparations now.

I agree, I wanted something more from her to show she was still interested in me besides that kiss.Crimmsonwind wrote...

I'd love that too! Every time Shepard returns to his/her cabin there's Liara to greet him/her! Kiss, cuddle and then asleep in bed together!
Also, I love your nickname of LiLi for her. So sweet! Devs, can we have Shepard call Liara "LiLi" at some point please?

I think that what that hints at is that Liara is in love with Shepard regardless of whether it is reciprocated or not. I know, there should be more recognition of the romance, but you've got to take what you're given.

That would be fun if your LI took up residence in your room. But what if Shepard needed private time? She/he didn't buy Fornax for nothing...
Seriously. I walked past it and was like HOLY HELL THE WALL JUST OPENED UP... a toilet? Sweet I have a bathroom!

In a natural conversation that would probably be something Shepard would ask her - even if she's not the love interest wouldn't that be something Shepard would ask? Sort of a "Where exactly do we stand?" type of thing.

I'd say it's definitely implied Liara loves/adores Shepard regardless of whether or not Shepard reciprocates. I mean, stealing someone's corpse for a chance to see them again and then spending two years attempting to avenge them is pretty intense.

Or...
"Liara, listen, I appreciate what you've done, but please, stop stalking me. Seriously. You're freaking me out a little." ~If she wasn't an LI.

That's the Renegade response.
In all seriousness, Liara's devotion to Shepard is quite sweet. She put herself through all that out of love? D'Awwwww.

Slightly off-topic, but I think that said toilet may have made the GameStop ad for the pre-order wep they got. You know, with JohnShepard shooting that singularity weapon and then asking 'where do you think they go afterwards'?
Still, I will have my Shep toss that out and bribe the Codex narrator to pretend there never was any such magazine in the room when and if LiLi moves in. Unless she's more open-minded than we may think...

Liara will have her day in an Expansion very soon. I am sure of it.
BioWare is not stupid, they won't leave their story incomplete and leave important characters that people love out of the game.
They even said they would be putting out varying sizes of DLC (from weapons up to a full expansion).
The two desks in the Normandy was definitely interesting. (Sorry to that guy who uses two desks, lol.)
As developers, they wouldn't create more then they had to, that probably means that Shepard will have someone in their quarters (Liara!). The no Teammates in Shep's quarters was also strange, why put that in there at all? The ME2 LIs can't stay in the quarters. Again, they don't do more work than they have to if it is not needed.
The signs all point to something great coming!

She loves Shepard, and knows what she's getting into. Though it's still hard to predict how she'll react to Shepard's eventual death - for she talked about Asari being philosophical about their relationships and their partner's mortality, she certainly didn't _act_ that way when Shepard died.
Maybe she'll take another partner. Maybe Shepard can encourage her to do so. I'm not sure it's in character for her to actually do that - and then there's the issue of her new partner living up to Shepard. A bit of a hard act to follow, with the whole "savior of the universe" thing.
Shepard may also live a long time, or maybe Mordin's got some genetic modification up his sleeve to extend Shepard's life.
