That would be the one, LET. I'm doing the Kaidan romance mostly because I haven't done it in years and want to have it fresh for deciding who to romance in my canon game.
Cool, that sounds interesting. I do remember you saying yesterday that you consider Shepard/Liara to be your canon romance, though.

I have, thus far, only had one real Shepard, so she's obviously my canon now. As I mentioned, I may create another...am I not supposed to like her as much as my other Shepard b/c she's not the canon?

Random questions regarding the idea of 'canon', does everyone here just have one Shepard that is their canon? Could someone have multiple canon Shepards? And, what really is the difference between a person's canon Shepard and their other Shepards that they do not consider to be canon?

Yeah, I have one Shepard whom I consider my "canon". To me, she IS the character of Commander Shepard, who happens to be a homosexual Asian female that romances Liara. In my mind, Kate is Commander Shepard.
I have additional Shepards, but I feel uncomfortable playing them. It does not seem right to call them Shepard, or for Jennifer Hale's voice to come out of their mouths when they speak. It is bizarre. So yeah, I have a canon Shepard, and I struggle to play any other.

I have two Sheps that I regard as cannon, one female and one male. I probably prefer my FemShep tbh. They're my cannon Sheps because they are the ones I've put the most time into, played all the DLCs for both games with, and grown the most attached to. I have others, but they were made to either get achievements in ME1, or try out different romances. Both my cannon Sheps romanced Liara.

In most RPG's my first character is always a male where I don't roleplay but simply goes "What would I do?". I usually do create character's later on, but there just usually "Let's romance X" or "Let's play evil". But mostly my second playthrough is almost always a female character which is evil/bad (since my "WWID?" playthrough tend to kick me in the good guy direction), just to see the diffrence.

Same for all RPGs, except a couple of DA characters that I hated so much I just pretended that they didn't happen.

Then I decided to go with the PC version, and then started anew with just one Shepard, who was kind of a culmination of all these old XBox versions, and she has become my one and only Shepard. I have tried others, like a Renegade, but I just can't get into it.
I've thought up an idea for another Shepard I want to use just in case the Liara romance can be started from scratch in ME3, so I might have two Shepards soon.

Maybe "canon" isn't the best word since all the Shepes are valid and will make it into ME3. "Optimal outcome" works better. That Shep won't be created to get achievements or resolve my conflicted feelings toward Miranda's romance. This is just for having a game where I make the choices I like best.

I have 2 Shepard's, I consider one "canon", because he has my name and I tried to make him look like me. His decisions are based on my personal feelings. That doesn't mean my other Shepard is any less....Shepard, she existes in her own real realm. Her personality is created after someone I cared about long ago. She isn't my "canon" technically, because she isn't me either. The fact that she is not my canon is not important to me, she is still very close to my heart.

And the punishment on this topic for not having your canon Shepard loyal to Liara is DEATH!

Also, my process for fic is different. I have no interest in writing Shep/anyone as a primary focus, so I create the Shepard I need to serve a particular role in the story. He's often male just because there's less chance of me tripping over pronouns.
That's true. Rightly or wrongly, to many people the character of Commander Shepard is a "he" almost by default, almost certainly due to Sheploo and the exclusively male marketing. As a result, some people will use the masculine pronoun due to habit. However, in my eyes, the character of Commander Shepard is a woman.
I do like how, in your fic, Shepard only exists to facilitate Liara and Miranda falling in love with each other.

Yep...mine is waiting beside her email terminal in her quarters for a message from Liara.

I'm just not that attached to any of my Shepards or their LIs so it really comes down to feeling like Liara's romance makes good story sense.
Ah, that's quite interesting. Again, to me that shows your appreciation of Liara's character, regardless of her romance, as you feel that it makes good story sense for her to be Shepard's lover.
