Well, action! games are usually more critically acclaimed these days than even the best RPGs.
But the action! part isn't the reason why ME2 is a worse game than ME1. It's just that the story is much worse.

Oh, absolutely. But many reviewers and many players care much more about the action! part than about the story, unfortunately. So the critical acclaim is not a surprise, nor does it say much about a game these days.
Which is true. But can you really blame people for prefering the game where they don't have to be force fed with boring and tedious gameplay in order to proceed with the story?

Her scene - and Shepard's part in it - in ME 2 were terribly written, hopefully the DLC will be better.

No. But certainly you don't claim that ME 1 did that? If so, I would strongly disagree. But this is not the thread for that, so let's keep it Liara related.

but if someone was asking wich was the "better" game
i would say that apart from the battles ME1 beats ME2 with ease
and yes driving the Mako like a drunk Shep was hell
and it itook a while before he got less drunk:P
i do like both games a lot but prefer ME1 over ME2
and if there will be an ending in ME3 that surpasses ME1's ending in epicness BW will be my GOD (unless they screw up :wub:Liara:wub:)

Alot of people are speculating that more information will be released, including the possibility of a trailer, pertaining to the Liara DLC at the GamesCon convention that begins very soon. I certainly hope that is the case, I'm desperate for BW to announce a release date!
But GamesCon and Leipzig have already happened. And Pax is in September.

Christina has been tweeting a bit about the SB, no release date or anything but it looks like the Adept might be getting tweaked in the DLC. http://twitter.com/truffle
Ah, awesome! That's great news! I'd heard rumours that biotics would be boosted in a ME2 gameplay DLC, and Christina may be referring to that. Excellent!
Maybe biotics are being boosted in order to strengthen Liara's combat capabilities for this DLC?

I wouldn't mind it. Biotics are so nerfed in ME2 it's not funny.

Well, the problem is, in ME2, Biotics suck. Example, Jack is suppose to be a super biotic, yet on insanity, she's the most useless character.

While I know that logic must sometimes be bended for the sake of gameplay, I still don't get how armor protects you from getting pushed back by biotics.

Yeah, I guess since it wasnt related to shooter combat, the devs werent too concerned about that in ME2.
It will be interesting to see if lotsb changes the adept in any way. Im not as concerned about that gameplay wise as I am with how this mission is going to be structured (Id like to see evidence that Bioware is moving away from a gameworld consisting of nothing but shooting galleries and near non stop action), but it at least might be an indication that this DLC could be expansive.
Hopefully theyll be some more screenshots released soon which also do this. Id quite like the idea of the DLC offering a large amount of non-combat content to balance out the necessary combat stuff.

For example, my Shepard is able to quite comfortably defeat a room full of vorcha, varren and krogan with Wide Singularity, Heavy Warp, and Crippling Slam. If you also evolve your Adept into a Nemesis, and purchase/ find all biotic upgrades, then your Shepard will become an absolute tank, whilst simutaneously exclusively focused on biotics.
In short, biotics are not weaker in ME2. Just different. You are still able to avoid using weapons altogether with an Adept Shepard.

I don't think biotics have been worsened in ME2, nor are they useless. They're just different, that's all, and require a teaked strategy. For example, with my Adept main Shepard, I was still able to play through ME2 with her whilst rarely firing her pistol, if ever. She was solely focused on biotics and any gunplay with her, as rare as it was, was secondary. ME2 biotics just need to be used effectively, that's all.

That's true. It's like the Vanguard, or the Engineer. They ain't broken, you just need to learn how to use them.

Playing as an adept felt just so completly redunant for me. By the time I had launched a biotic and was waiting for the cooldown to end, I could just as easily cleared the entire room with my vindicator/AR Soldier, or if there was a bigger enemy. Use the Widow!
Engineers and Vanguard and Infiltrators all felt good and useful to me (haven't played sentinel), but the adept felt completly powerless to me.

In addition, I am almost certain that Liara will remain a formidable combatant in her DLC and beyond!
I doubt that unless Liara have reave. But that would suck as it would imply Liara is AY gene carrier.

Ah, as I expected...thanks for the heads up!
Though, I had no troubles with my Adept Insanity playthrough with the old system.
