The "DIE" is kind of awkward.

It is. I wish we could have seen more of the real Benezia. The Gargoyles fan in me would have liked interaction w/ Anderson, but I really wanted a better sense of her relationship with Liara since they haven't spoken in decades.

I thought it had only been a few years since Benezia and Liara had spoken?

Having Liara's father in ME3 and interacting with her could definetly shed some on Benezia and Liara's background also (the completly lack of background story is the biggest criticism I have for Liara as a character).

Because as is it is now. Benezia as a whole is the weakest part of ME1's story.

Has it? I know she rfers to it as "many years" but I don't know what that means.

Eh, I've also thought that we might not be finished with Benezia and Liara's backstory and past interactions, despite the death of the former. As Lizard said, if Liara's other parent is encountered at some point, there may be more information and elaboration of Benezia's backstory, and the reasoning behind why and how she raised Liara as she did.

It could be that Liara and Benezia began to grow apart after she became an archaeologist. There may have been minimal contact between the two, as Liara would have spent the majority of her time of archaelogical digsites, which obviously resulted in distance developing in their relationship.

This is why I hope the idea of the SB being Liaras father turns out to be nonsense. Besides being cliched and stupid, Id like it to be a worthwhile point in ME3. Itd be nice to learn a few things about Liara, like her birthplace etc. As you say, Liara doesnt have much of a background going, so it being part of her character in ME3 would be welcome. After all, she knows a lot about Shepard, where he grew up, his past exploits and whatnot. Id like to learn about some of Liaras own past history as an archaeologist. She was the finest mind on the protheans and their extinction in the entire galaxy (since she figured out what nobody else could, and without a prothean beacon to help), so theres got to be some interesting stories in there somewhere.

But that would be confusing for the new players Dink! We can't let that happen, everybody must have a fair chance of understanding the story.

I never liked it. Liara looks like a child in it.

Not really, its brand new info. It hasnt been explored yet. Its like Tali and Garrus in ME2. Their characters are based on two things: 1. Their current predicament: Garrus setting up on Omega/Tali working for the fleet (neither link to ME1), and 2. Romance (doesnt link back to ME1 either, unless you count one two dialogues refering "watching" Shepard during ME1).

If Liaras character is treated in a certain way, most of her content will be accesible to new players as well as old. Yeah, maybe we wont get much in the way of unique content to show for so many years waiting, but noob friendly  squadmate and romance content is better than noob friendly cameo/support role.

I'd check my youtube vids, but I'm at work so...check them for me!  Plz?  See if she mentions a specific time period from whence they stopped talking.

Eehhh, yeah... she does look a little too young. Hmm, perhaps when she was first recieving combat training? It would make sense that Benezia would want her daughter to be able to defend herself, even at a young age. Shiala was probably her teacher, but that's really just a guess.

The only problem is how Bioware will be able to introduce Liara's father without making her pop out of the blue saying "Hey! I'm Liara's father and i'm here to provide background story". I do hope they can have her in the game, but I need a few moment to think it through.

I've just checked them, and you actually have not uploaded a video of the first conversation with Liara to YouTube. Regardless, I don't think she does mention a specific time period from when she stopped talking to Benezia. Hmmm, I don't remember it at all...

The fact that Liara had no weapon skills at all in ME1 suggest that Benezia had Liara only learn self defence with biotics.

Yeah, Liara is a biotic powerhouse really. One of the few things I liked about the comic was it stuck to her use of mainly biotics, with a bit of pistol usage thrown in.

I always imagine that she only bothered to ever know how to use a gun because you sometimes can't rely only on biotics.

I guess Han Solo puts it's best. "Nothing beats a good blaster at your side kid!".

OK, I have all the vids recorded, but I haven't uploaded them yet...will need to work on that tonight.  I wonder why I have the impression it was only a few years?

Hmmmm, it's never really specified, I think. Liara's statement is somewhat vague. I dunno, I do not really remember the specifics of her dialogue myself either.

I need to add to my youtube Liara vid collection anyway. I have all the ME2 scenes uploaded, but only one from ME1, plus the love scene.

I think that it is necessary to record and upload the scenes featuring:

-Meeting Liara on Therum
-All romance conversations
-Locker scene
-Love scene
-Confronting Benezia with Liara present

I don't think the debriefings are necessary.

I might upload the one that's a bit different if you put Noveria off until last.  Liara explains the Mu Relay a bit, instead of Benezia doing it.
