While my parashep romance liara as well, its the renegade that has more depth to the story.

She was an earthborn orphan.Fighting for survival from an early age in the streetgangs she learned defiance and she learned that no one ever did anything if they didn't want something in return. She didn't let anyone take anything of hers and trusted no-one.Her viciousness was legendary. Then came the discovery that she was a biotic.Saved from the gutter by the alliance military (and their hefty sign-on bonuses for biotics), the military drove in to her head the importance of duty. When nothing else she ever had done mattered much, duty gave her purpose and focus. And she was good at what she did.The meatgrinder at Torfan earned her the reputation as a relentless and ruthless officer. She personally executed many of the batarians who tried to surrender, often messily. To her, they were her childhood evils made flesh and she would show no mercy to people like them.Ever.

And then she met Liara. For the first time in her life she met a person who was actially innocent and sincere, not trying to gain anything from her or 'play' her.Through her life she had had no-one she could trust or open to.With Liara she felt that she could lower the hard shell she had created around her and be an actual person for a change, not a mask. She had been very lonely in that cocoon of hers. Not anymore.Though she kept the barriers up with the crew, behind closed doors with Liara it was allways very diffrent.

And that's her story intervowen with how i play her part :)

This starts playing in my head anytime my renshep and liara have private dialogues together:

Thanks :) I allways try to give my characters a good background.Makes the conversations a lot more meaningful and some lines get a lot more weight behind them. The "Nobody stabs me in the back, Udina.Nobody." line, for example, gets a lot more menace behind it with a backstory like the renshep one i posted.Hooray for imagination (some people still got it) Posted Image

Yeah, after playing through both games a few times already, I know which dialog options best suit my Shepard, and which ones lead to way OOC behavior. I think the same during the Liara romance dialog. I prefer some options to others, and tend to always pick them.

Now I'm wondering: does Liara say anything interesting if you do Feros last?

I think I have done this once a long time ago...I think she mentions that the vision is now 'whole' but she can't make it out, as it's meant for a Prothean mind to decipher and understand.  So....then you need the cipher.

With Virmire last (my typical playthrough), she just says the vision is 'incomplete'.

You get this if you pick Liara up last, of course.

I did check to see what Liara says about Benezia in regards to how long it's been since they've spoken. She just says, 'I have not spoken to Benezia in many years.'

So...I guess it depends on how you interpret (or Liara interprets) 'many'.

I think I read in a fan-fic that it was only a few years...I sometimes confuse fic with canon.

I have a pretty rigid order: Therum, Noveria, Feros, Virmire. It doesn't feel right not to go directly to Ilos, and I prefer to be able to make Jeong's Charm check. Obviously, I need to switch it up a little.

So does anyone have any guesses as to what the big surprise of the shadow broker DLC is?

The pessimist in me says it will just be the revamping of the biotics system.

Oh god I hope you're wrong. That would be such a disappointment. (no sarcasm)

I know...I'm kind of hoping the surprise is Liara related.  It probably won't be, though.

Hey everybody! How ya doing?

Also don't know if people are interested anymore in the ways we roleplay our Shepard. So I will wait to describe my own Shepard's so I know I won't have wasted my breath.

Hey Lizard. I'm interested. Go for it. Try to also keep it Liara related, so we can stay on topic :-)

Im still interested Lizard.

I play an Earthborn sole survivor. I like the idea that my Shepard is with Liara because in many ways he shared her love of solitude, and getting away from everyone else. Plus what with having no family and few friends, I like the idea that Liara is a large part of making up for that.

As for the choices, I often use my own take on the situation, basically because its really no different to the other way, its still the player making the decisions. I prefer it that way though. It just works well with all the other things the player is forced to do. I still have a basic character in my head (it doesnt work to simply "play yourself"), but I simply do the same thing my character would (analyse the situation logically and make a decision) so its a waste of time trying to make a detachment about it all.

I believe she says "place it" ("its original coordinates would place it deep inside the Terminus").
Still cute of course :)

Okay.

To start off: I never ever sat down and write a backstory to any character I made before creating it. Most of the time, the backstory is made up in my head as I play throughout the game.

A good example would be my renegade female Shepard, who is a vanguard and has a colonist/ruthless background. As I played the game I asked myself, what makes her have such a cold outlook on life and death and why is she such a xenophope. Then I started imagineing that the parrents who she grew up with were pro-humans, and their ideals and view on things were teached on to her. Her view were twisted and taken to the extreme with the attack on Mindor, making her believe that all aliens only have hostile intentions against humans and that they (the aliens) should just be conquered.

Okay i'm getting off-topic now. And I'll tell now how I roleplay one of my Shepard.

Charlie Shepard is somewhat of a good guy gone bad. He was raised in the streets and were taken in by one of the local gangs when still young. Althrough a decent person, he was manipulated by the older members (due to being young) to go down a path he hated. By time he had grown up, he had become one of the most succsesful members in the gang. Having commit everything from theivery and murder to get to the top. Sadly a tragedy involing he's only good friend death made him leave his original life and join up with the alliance in the search of something better. His faith in things were almost shattered after the events of Akuze where he lost most of his new found friends, it made him emotionally distant from most things. Due to the gain of a almost supestitus fear that growing close to something will end hurting it.

During the events of ME1 he finally decided that it was time to let his emotional walls down and try make real contact to his crew. He became good friends with everyone, but didn't romance either Liara or Ashley despite having feelings for both of them. He ultimativly believed that both deserved someone better than him (he also only saw women as objects of pleasure until he joined the alliance). The death of Ashley on Virmire and the alliance greedy power-grab in the aftermath of the war, ultimativly shattered his belief in anything good and by time of ME2. He's a cold hearted thug who only looks out for himself.

So yeah. That's how I roleplay one of my Shepards, paragon gone renegade. He didn't romance Liara, but i'm maybe planning to do that with him ME3 (sorta like having Liara help redeem him). And hopefully you enjoyed reading this one as much as I enjoyed yours.

"EDIT" Sorry for any grammar errors in it, but i'm not 100% perfect at english.

I also make up the backstory as I play the game, because before I didn't have a feeling for the character.

He's a Spacer and a War-Hero. That means he held off an entire platoon, alone, so that's where he got his scar from. He isn't against Aliens in general, but he doesn't like Batarians and is definately pro-human....or so he turned out to be ^^

Like Dink, the decisions I made with that character, my main Shepard, are pretty much my own take on the situation. While I was doing that, I also came up with reasons as to why Shepard did some of the things he did. Why did he join the Alliance in the first place? How he got to be the best of them all, you know.

In the beginning he wanted to prove something ...to someone, which obviously he did ^^ After that he became arrogant, and ruthless even, for a while. Travelling with Liara changed that. He believed he could do anything on his own after Elysium. He still beleived it, but then, he didn't want to do it alone anymore. He wanted to do his missions, travel or whatever, with Liara. That also meant he had to stop being a ruthless bastard, so he tried and slowly accomplished that^^

In ME2 that changed again, because everyone abandoned him he thought. He sort of shut his emotions off, and made purely calculated decisions. Still, they were my take on the situation, so I still made those decisions, but found/came up with an ingame backstory reason for it.

I hope that gives you a sense on how I RP my Shepard. (FYI, I only refer to my main as my Shepard - I do have more than one).

Wow, if Liara is independently available for romance in ME3 --which I really hope she is-- then this would be an absolutely perfect Shepard to do that with.

Thank you! And as I said, it's a story that was loosly pierced together over the course of hours of gameplay.
