But really. I guess we should also tell her that Harbinger is a rambling drunk. His evil plan was doomed from the start (one the biggest offenders in the ME2 story, AND THATS SAYING SOMETHING!)

Good god. ME3 really needs to clear up alot of **** ME2 left behind it. And Liara should play an important part of it.

Oh yeah, Liara definitely needs to know that Harbinger is a raving chatterbox full of empty threats, cryptic and tacky comments, and generally an annoying pest.

Itd probably be comforting for her to learn that so far the closest we come to seeing reaper "leadership" is that of a raving idiot in a serious state of denial.

If TESB was like ME2. The showdown on cloud city between Luke and Vader would never have taken place. Insteaf Luke will square off a bunch of stormtroopers while the emporer threw random insults at him over a loudspeaker.

And on that note, it's time for me to say goodbye!

"The music in here is so loud. It's almost like the people here want an excuse not to have to talk to each other."

The way Liara looks at the world is so interesting sometimes.

She's very perceptive. I'm feeling bad for breaking up with her right now.

I like it when she wonders if the people living their hectic lives on the citadel are happy.

Oh, and when she calls Saren a turian bastard. Thats a good one. Its the kind of line that shows Liara has always had a steely side to her, and folks that view her as some weak and immature child are just too ignorant to know otherwise.

I don't think it's ignorance. She's initially presented as a very stock damsel in distress who accidentally got herself trapped. One easily missed line doesn't negate that. Her strength and steel is revealed later.

I completely disagree about her being presented as a damsel in distress. Ive seen it mentioned about how Ashley, Tali and Liara all need Shepards help when you first encounter them, but I think thats just a knee jerk reaction.  I wouldnt support future instances of Liara desperately needing Shepards help (like this DLC for example) because of the first time, but I wouldnt claim "damsel in distress" every single time it happens.

And one line does negate that even if it were true. You can hear in her voice shes getting frustrated with being unfairly accused of a wrong doing she knows nothing about. With many peoples interpretation of Liara, it leaves no room for things like that.

I agree.

Simply "rescuing" someone, in and of itself, does not make a character a damsel in distress type.

It's how that character is portrayed during the rescuing and afterward.

Liara's repetitive fainting, her awkwardness, her immediate crush on you, and her inexperience with romance all combine to give people a certain - perhaps misguided - impression.

Well...I wonder if these people have a different impression of her after playing ME2?

I believe you liked her better in ME2, correct?

Yea, and on Liara being presented as "damsel in distress"... well, I personally think it's a bit similar to Jack being presented as "psychopath". There's more to the character if you care to look, but if you don't it's not exactly obvious. Though in case of ME1 Liara, I suppose it was overdone just a tiny bit.

Liara is meant to represent asari youthfulness. That requires enough youth and inexperience to at least be understand from a human perspective, but still enough knowledge, experience and wisdom to represent more than a century of living, the vast majority of which has been lived as physically a human adult.

Liaras repetitive fainting is a gameplay element, not a character one. Her immediate crush on you is shared by every single mass effect character as soon as a romance becomes "active" in a certain respect. Liara is just open about it.

The only aspect I would say applies is her social ineptitude, and pretty much being a "sweet, geeky chick", but even that ties back a little bit in that shes supposed to offer a young asari perspective.

If that's the case, she's not doing a very good job being representative. Typical asari youth seem to prefer stripping in nightclubs or running with merc gangs, not study extinction of ancient races. She's more than just a typical young asari imo.

Oh, she definitely has the curiosity and (somewhat reckless) adventurous streak that's supposed to be typical of maidens. It just manifests itself differently in her case.

So, Liara's a nerd. Not all young people like to go clubbing, not all young asari like to strip and play Commando.

Or, basically what pups just said . . . . . . . . .

I think that's got to be a contender for worst romance line in a Bioware game.
