No, Liara won't die in the DLC. Maybe she'll get injured like Garrus during his recruitment mission just to give us a scare, but they won't kill an important character off in a DLC.

Since it's just a DLC (and not every ME fan will necessarily play it) nothing major will happen storywise. It may just be a mission to rescue Feron and fill in some of the plot from Redemption. I doubt they'd even reveal the SB, unless he's just a throw-away villian and we won't hear anything about him again. If he's going to be an important villian in ME3 he won't be revealed in DLC.

That is more or less what I think will happen, the DLC will involve the rescue of Feron and maybe reveal some info regarding the SB that foreshadows ME3. I don't think we'll end up killing him, that assuming he is an individual and not some galaxy-wide AI that sucks in information and stops one species dominating the rest, or something...

Actually I wouldnt be suprised if the SB doesnt appear in an potential DLC at all or survives it and gets away.lets just say he doesnt strike me as the villain that stays to fight unless he finds himself with his back against the wall,so as long as there are enough agents, enforcers, mercs or some random people that can use a gun he can throw at you he wont come out.

On the subject of Tali, yeah they're gonna have to bring her back. I don't mind though because she's always been loyal to Sheps cause.

If they didn't want to do extra work that some people won't see, they probably shouldn't have made her one of the easier characters to kill.

I think I'm gonna start a new ME1 playthrough tomorrow, for the first time ever playing as FemShep and I'll play an adept. I'll romance Liara, of course. Looking forward to meeting her again!

I just started a new playthrough like, an hour ago. I needed some Liara time.

Fem engineer for me. So we've got a nice balance of Biotics and tech going right now.

Funny, I finished installing ME1 two hours ago. Exited to see her again and having her on my side aallll the game looong !

(But its a little bit frustrating how long the loading screens are compared to ME2)

I agree. They made her really easy to kill, but she's got the biggest fanbase. I don't envy their spot in having to plot that mess out.

BioWare is magical. They'll figure something out that will manage to please most people, I'm sure.

Then again, somebody's always going to be unhappy, no matter what you do. :/

They've definitely got one heck of an obstacle to tackle there.

I think the SB is an AI as well.

The SB being an AI would be interesting, it'd explain why he's helping the Collectors and by extension the Reapers.

But maybe the SB won't be a major villain in ME3.  The SB hasn't been a major anything so far, so why not play out his story in DLC?  That would be good marketing and make the dlc consequencial without affecting the Reaper storyline at all.  It seems tailor made for DLC or expansion.

That's why I'm torn about this.  The SB really wasn't a major charcter in the story until he was trying to sell Shepard's body to the Collectors.  I also doubt the SB will have a critical role in ME3 b/c I'm assuming the focus there will be on the Reapers and in building an army to fight them.  It would make sense to handle a peripheral villian character in a DLC where it is separate from the main plot and can get the full attention it deserves.   The SB plot would become an afterthought if mixed into ME3 amongst the main Reaper plot.

On the other hand, if the DLC's one small mission and then BAM!  the SB is dead, that feels cheap.  IMO, the best thing to do would be to resolve the SB plot in a larger DLC.  This definitly needs to be more expansive than Bring Down the Sky.

Did anyone hear the rumor that the SB is the geth? I can't remember why people thought this was true...it had something to do with somethign Legion said.

I didn't hear about that. I also didn't explore Legions dialogue in full yet. I will be on my next ME2 playthrough. It's going to be my "import for ME3" playthrough. I am interested though, do you remember what Legion said that would come to this conclusion?

The SB as an AI would not surprise me since they sort of did that with Obsidian's KOTOR 2.

Is it known if the SB is just one person or are they really a group of people?

Throughout the game, everyone says "nobody gets close to the shadow broker". From all the story elements we've been told at this point. Nobody knows even that. That's why the speculation for the SB comes in many forms, with some people thinking it's the Geth, an AI, or even TIM.

You could say that the SB's actions kind of set some of the wheels rolling in ME1, what with him hiring Wrex to kill Fist for betraying him. I know it's not a massive part of the story, but it's there.

If BioWare see Liara as a major character as I think they do, then at some point her SB story and the main Reaper plot will converge. If they are related somehow, that'd make it viable for the SB to be taken down at some point during ME3.

I'll see if I can find the link where I saw that.  It may just be someone's conjecture.

I dont think its TIM, the SB seems like his rival in information gathering.
Liara thought it was a group of people, and so did that volus working for him in ME1.

Nobody knows, the closest we've seen him/her/them/it is in Redemption #3 were Liara is talking to the SB via a robot-type thing, bit weird really.

I remember the Volus now, but I don't remember any Liara dialogue that hinted at her thinking it was more than just 1 person.

@j There's a point in ME2 when you can ask Liara about the SB, thats when she says it.

Liara seems to think it's one person, and she's very bent on getting him to fit into that coffee cup...

Were you talking about Goto in KOTOR II? Man I hope it's not like that. XD

I could be wrong though, I'll have to check.

She does say something to the effect of "There's speculation he may actually be a group of people working under one name".

Seems to me Liara won't actually meet the SB face to face in issue 4 of Redemption. Tell you what, I can't wait until it's released, so we can get some more insight into Liara's character development in ME2. Poor blueberry. :crying:
