Doesnt look like it then, just a self-masturbatory announcement for a PS3 port.
While I don't mind ME series on the PS3. I do question the fact that they release ME2 but not ME1.
Bioware: Do you know why ME2 had such a large first week sales?
BECAUSE IT HAD FANS TO BACK IT UP!

Man, they're really trying to extend the life of the game. I can't tell if they're doing this because they want ME to be on as many platforms as possible, or if ME2 didn't sell as well as they wanted it to.
Oh its EA, so most Bioware games were eventually going to have PS3 ports.
So long as it has no impact of new mass effect content, and gets outsourced to some other dev to handle, I couldnt give a toss about a PS3 port.
Its just a disappointment really. Its becoming extremely tedious waiting for information on a DLC which for all I know could well end my interest in this series if not done in a certain way.

I kind of know how people who disliked The Matrix sequels feel now.

I don't see how it won't just be a half-assed port, without people being able to import a ME1 save.
Yeah. I think some poor fools talked about the prospect of ME1 decisions not meaning much in ME3 if there isnt a ME1 port to PS3, just an ME2 one. What those poor people dont understand is that that line of thinking was already in effect for ME2, its just it was about people who didnt play the game at all. If they are already sacrificing content because of people too lazy and moronic to play the first game, this new supposed ME2 only port to PS3 changes nothing.
But I guess we just look to the next likely date we can get some info on this DLC other than three screenshots which dont tell you much, and a useless blurb that might raise questions about how seriously the Shadow Broker plot is being treated.

I feel like I've been stabbed in the heart. Though it's not because it's going to PS3, but because "that's it".
Still, with ME2 coming to PS3, it goes to show that Microsoft is running out of exclusives. All they got left now is Fable, Halo, and Gears of War, and that's not saying much.

So now it's clear that Me2 is considered to be a standalone game . This port shows how much Bioware wants to force their canon story on new palyers without porting the first instalment .
Yeah, first the third book. Now this.

What does the third book have to do with this?
Just currious.

Apparantly it makes Udina the councillor I think. At the very least Anderson isnt the councillor anymore.

hmm could also be because freaking Microsoft owns the publishing rights to Me1!!
...EA earned only the publishing rights for all titles that are created by Bioware after they got bought by EA!

By biggest fear is that if ME1 is not released for PS3, it means that some of the decisions from the first game won't have an impact in ME3, unless they make some exclusive content that PS3 owners won't be able to see .
They arent going to have much of an impact anyway, even without a PS3 port being made. They made it clear in ME2 that they were not above sacrificing content to make sure the game is as noob friendly as possible.
They have already said that each game in the "trilogy" is "stand alone" and that the effects of choices only alter the "tone" of the game, so expect more crappy, easily dismissed effects to your choices I would say.

Well it's not like that made a blind bit of difference in ME2 anyway, but still disconcerting.

Maybe they are setting themselves up to establish canon, so that it works nicely with the stupid movie adaptation which is rumoured to be about Shepard (which I hope bombs and makes Bioware look like morons if thats the case).
I already have a hard enough time imagining that ME1 could be turned into a good movie, even less with ME2.
Mostly because i don't think you have 12 subplots going on in a movie at once. And if they remove most of the subplots, the main plot is simply to weak to hold on it's own.

Yep but the consequences maybe detrimental to Me3 nonetheless :
How are PS3 owners supposed to shape their own story without having the first game ?
Does this means that anything related to Me1 will be dumbed down (like the me1 love interests) for the sake of new players ?
Wait, this already happened with Me2 ...<_<

That, or they may add a custom save editor to be added in, allowing you to create an import save.
