i would hate if the changes only arive after completing the DLC.

It should be like a patch where the effects are imediate and universial.

Those changes would have to be the upgrades.

And now forgive me, but OH YES! DEAR LORD YES! This is, without a doubt, the GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT IN MASS EFFECT EVER! I'm not once to 'squee,' so I'll just say DEAR GODDESS YES!

There... that's out of my (OH YES!) system now. Now for a rational examination of my unbridled joy:

1) 800 points. This hints that this package is going to be HUGE. If you thought Overlord was big, you must've seen nothing yet.
2) They only hint at two locations, but that can only mean a lot of activity and action/dialogue at these places. Awesome! No more quick little looking-around at five different sites.
3) Romance continuable! Oh, all my prayers have come true! That means, without a doubt:
4) Lots of great dialogue to come!
5) A chance to unlock "Paramour" perhaps, for those of us who never sacrificed their undying love for an achievement. Not even by cheating/reloading.
6) Did I mention the romance is continuable?
7) FIVE achievements? We were astonished with 2 in Overlord! But 5? (Believe me, if I could capslock a number right now, I would) This is going to be great.
8) ROMANCE CONTINUABLE!
9) Screenshots indicate that Liara is actually a following squadmate for at least part of the missions. Other parts, I take it, like the part with four people, are examples of a typical squad, with Liara performing cinematic/side combat.
10) ROMANCE BLOODY CONTINUABLE!

This... this is history. (Obscure Indiana Jones quote) At long last, Mass Effect 2 can finally eclipse Mass Effect 1 for me as the greatest game of all time. Just with the information BioWare has graciously granted us, I am more than satisfied, and they've said they're not going to announce one of the best parts!

BioWare, you have and always will be the only game studio.

At last we get a release date! Now, I'd pretty much figured that Lair of the Shadow Broker would be released around Labor Day. As for the 800 microsoft point cost, I find it understandable that it would cost that much, because the last 2 downloadable missions Kasumi's loyalty, and Overlord involved events during ME2, so LOTSB involves a continuation of events from the Redemption comics, and plus, for some players who romanced Liara like all of us here, it would involve dialogue that continues the relationship, so the 800 point cost is understandable. In short, WOO!!! We get our Liara DLC in 2 weeks from tomorrow!

Like I said elsewhere, the 800 points is a great sign. They took time and effort to build this great Liara-centric piece, and we should be grateful. It's barely more expensive than other great DLCs (Kasumi, Overlord) but I'm sure it will exceed them in quality tenfold. The inclusion of romance (in itself something completely startling) floored me, and I'm amazed they actually catered to a specific fan base. I'm honored. This is going to be amazing. I've been uncertain for the past month, fearing a quick, out of character appearnce by Liara, a Shadow-Broker-themed rail shooter in some merc warehouse, and a lack of romance altogether, but now I can happily count down the days with optimism, and something to look forward to about the conclusion of summer.

Didn't Overlord only last 4 hours at best?

If we're lucky, then this will last 8 hours. But I personally expect this to last 6 hours.

But pray we won't spend it all on combat or the Hammerhead.

So how's the excitement level over the new DLC information?

It might not be any indication, but wasnt Point Lookout 800 MS points for Fallout 3? Naturally the experience is different, and you have to allow time for wandering in PL, but I expect a good solid few hours worth of gameplay.



5 achievements seems like a promising aspect that might suggest plenty of main and optional content.
