Semantics. Opinion. Coconut is the most misunderstood flavor.
And so is Liara it seems.

I liked ME2 Liara. She's portrayed as something other than a saint. Saints are nice but not terribly interesting. I believe any given character deserves more than that, especially Liara.

How was she protrayed as saintly in ME1?

The things you come up with!
Well...you think Liara's a saint or something.

And I think those qualities can still describe her in ME2.

I think she's the same, but is in an extraordinary position, so you get to see her character stick out more. I still think what we saw of Liara in ME1 was interesting too, but that's my opinion and all.

These traits are not gone in ME2. They have simply been added to. This is a good thing.

Obviously I am using hyperbole to express the thorough purity, blamelessness and lack of moral ambiguity that was Liara's character in ME1. She was a good person.

That's what I'm saying...but I don't think they were 'added to', but were always there, and we didn't get to see them earlier.

Liara did not change to please me personally. I just happen to find her new change pleasing.
Well, as much as you complained about her, she probably did [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie]

This is to say that in fiction, what matters is what is presented, and a thing that is not shown cannot be felt.
Not always....
Anyway, it was shown, just in the second game. You should be then able to extrapolate back to the first game. See?

But I'm not sure if I'd say ME2 Liara was hiding in ME1 Liara all the time. More like, Liara was forced into some grueling situations which changed her as a person.
Ah, or is the argument you really want to make that she was always a worthy character, I just didn't see it until now?
Because that is a different thing entirely. A character's fictional worth cannot be measured, except by the worth of the writer.

Ha, not in my case, Lizard! I'm a console player in the unfortunate position of not being able to access the DLC, much more or less run it!
In the words of Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie (similtaniously): "DAAAMN!"
Ahem, anyways ...
