Im torn now. Tali or Liara? The DLC touched me, in particular Liara's character development, and I'm struggling now which to pursue in 3.

That's why I have one Shepard who's with Liara, and one who's with Tali (after choosing no-one in ME1).

If anybody missed the paragon interrupts, I strongly advise playing the DLC again if you can. They add a lot to the interaction between Shepard and Liara. Plus, it's always good to see Liara again.

Everytime I'm in a conversation I haven't heard before, I keep one eye on the bottom left corner, and my index finger ready on the left trigger.

Just played Lair Of The Shadow Broker again... ahh... Posted Image This makes four total completions since I downloaded it.

I thought the ME2 love scenes were okay, but for me, they cannot compare to this. In my opinion, it is even better than the Pre-Ilos scene. If anything were perfect, this would be it.

Hey Indigo!

I think what blew my mind about it the most was how Liara asked Shepard about how he felt, and Shepard just seemed so completly worn-out when he talks about how hards things are going.

But the best part was definetly when Liara asked the "what if this all ended tomorrow?", but you have to pick the paragon option.

Yes, I really really liked that. Picking the "I'm worried" option and then the "And what did that do?" option was really great characterization.  Looks like Shep's finally cracked open that brick.

And yes, I nearly split my face in two, I was smiling so wide at that Paragon response. That entire scene was masterful.

"Goddess... you were dead..."

"I got better..."

And,

"Just promise me you'll always come back."

"I don't know, that's a pretty big promise to make." And the following.

All of it! Posted Image

Did your Shepard have all squadmembers survive the suicide mission (if you played it post-mission that is)? If so what does Liara say about that. I personally liked the dialog if somebody died.

Another one of the scenes that felt like they were sent down from on high was the conversation after the first boss fight.

It might sound strange, but I really really wanted to see Liara and Shepard argue. It was all believable and in-character, and was not too light-handed.

"Are you afraid there might be some terminals you need me to hack?"

"That's not fair, you were dead!"

"I came back!"

"You can't just show up and expect two years of mourning to vanish!" (I forget the exact words here)

I. LOVED. That. A relationship is probably defined the most when it is put under pressure.

I had all squad members alive.  Liara said it was good to see that Dr. Chakwas was doing okay.

Oh, I played it through with a No One Left Behind Shepard. I'll need to try it with a Shepard who lost someone.

Yes, it was good to see them go against each other. So to speak. And Bioware pretty much pulled it off 100%.

I liked the dialog alot, I felt it gave the scene even more emotion and made Shepard seem even more human. Even through I guess it's only 1-2 lines extra or just diffrent.

So yes, even here in ME2. Killing off certain characters have already paid off!

Yes! Mark Meer finally bothering to show up at the studio to record dialog for ME2 DLC was certainly relieving! :D

I have a feeling Bioware putted some presure on him, considering how important this DLC was. Which really seems to have paid off.

Or just told him; "Okay, we don't want you to use the monotone we've had you deliver you lines in anymore."

His improved performance increased my enjoyment of my first playthrough tenfold. It was still not perfect, but it's definitely another step in the right direction. I really hope it keeps improving into ME3.

To be fair. He's preformance in ME2-maingame wasn't shabby either. It's just the DLC where he seemed to be slacking off.

Gotta say, I was pretty much sold on Tali for a romance option after Liara was limited to a few lines of dialogue, but after LotSB: damn, Bioware did a really good job on the romantic tensions between Shepard and Liara, regardless of whether you stayed loyal or not. This DLC made me like Liara WAY more as a character and gave her so much more depth. At least one of my main Sheps is going to stay with her through ME 3 now.

Kudos to you for admitting that. It was hard seeing Liara in the ME2 vanilla story, I 'm glad you said what you said. Welcome back to Liara fandom!

Sorry for the side bar, but why the hate for Meer? I love the work he has done so far. His strength is definitely in the Renegade tree but overall I think he is good. Yes his delivery is lacking sometimes, but you have to be honest, so is Hale's. Nothing so spectacular about either's performance in my opinion.

I like Mark Meer, and as I said before, his preformance in ME2 maingame was good. It just that in Overlord, his preformance was sub-par to say the least.

But I have to disagree about Meer's preforming best as a renegade. It's not bad, but I just don't like the style he has. But I do like his paragon preformance.

In short:

Meer=paragon

Hale=renegade
