Another thing about Liara was that in Mass Effect 1, she was a researcher on the Protheans, but in ME2, she avenging her friend and of course Shepard, by hunting down the Shadow Broker. In Mass Effect 2, they must have completely forgotten about her work on the Protheans. I can tell how shocked she'll be when she learns that the Collectors were once Protheans, and are working with the Reapers..

Not only was she the foremost authority in the galaxy on the Protheans, she's also the one who put forth the theory of the 50,000 year extinction cycle.   Our asari is one smart blue goddess.

I am going to have to take a look at these fanfics you all mentioned. Also I never really thought about Joker coming up with a conspiracy to steal Liara from you to be a remote possibility. I just considered those two events to be Joker being himself. It would be funny if he did try to steal Liara from you, but that would never happen. I don't really house hatred for Joker because he separated Shepard from Liara because it gave Liara's character more depth that we won't see until later.

I agree with you. Although what Liara is like in ME2 saddens me alot, her guilt and sorrow and everything, I know that this development is going to make Shepard and Liara even stronger together, and their eventual reconciliation will be so powerful and emotional. To me, whilst Liara's sorrow and guilt in ME2 is deeply heartbreaking, it just means that her and Shepard's love for each other will conquer it and they will be stronger than ever.

Indeed, I can't wait to see that moment.

I completely agree.

It will be well worth the wait to see the emotional and romantic conversations and moments Liara and Shepard will have in the Expansion and in ME3.

Also, did anyone else, when you first accessed the galaxy map, look at where Therum is on the map and think "That's where I first met Liara, God I miss her"?

RPing a lesbian character is possibly the most depressing role in the game.  Liara is gone, Samara doesn't want Shepard and Kelly gets collected by the Collectors.  And then you have Jacob.

I wonder if BioWare has an agenda.

You can save Kelly though by going straight to the suicide mission after the Reaper IFF is installed.

That is one of my favorite smiles from her (I love all of her smiles though).:wub:
I still wonder how it is even possible to be that cute.:wub:<3<3

My favorite smile was when you tell her about parents and children, and she says that Shepard has the wisdom of the matriarchs, and that her mother told her the same thing.

That is defintely one of my favorite Liara moments. (It is an extremely cute smile).
I just went through that part two days ago.

I would do ME1 over again but then I hate driving up 90 degree angles on the Mako.

But I want to see Liara and romance her again!

I have to ask some of you guys though, this will be my first ME1 playthrough since ME2 was released, so will what has happened to Liara in ME2 weigh on my mind at all? Will there be periods where I feel sad for her, and did you experience any of this? I keep thinking that my mind will drift back to how she is suffering in ME2, and the fact that Shepard is showing love to Liara in ME1 makes it even more irritating that he/she is a statue in ME2.

Yeah, it sometimes happens for me.
Most of the time, I can ignore ME2 when talking to her in ME1.

Depending on what Shep and her are talking about, it will make certain memories from ME2 come back for me.
One thing that  made me sad after ME2 was seeing Liara being innocent, yet worldly in ME1, and in ME2, she has had to harden herself for two years all because of her searching for Shep.

I was definitely annoyed a couple of times while playing ME1 at how much Shep loves Liara in ME1 and sits there like a statue in ME2. Yet, seeing their love in ME1 reminded me how much they love each other.

I try to think while I am play ME1, "ME2's Liara reunion scene is only temporary, the Expansion will rectify it and add the emotions and emotional conversations that we want". (And tons of Liara)!

It didn't weigh on my mind for me. I really enjoyed having Liara around again. It was a quite enjoyable experience. Nothing like reminiscing on old times. The only time you'll drift back the present is when the credits hit. That's what happened to me. Playing through ME1 again may remind you what you're fighting for. A better romance in upcoming content =]

After reading Stubbs comment, I think I just got swept up in the moment when I played through.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, that playing ME1 again will completely reaffirm my love for her, and I'll forget all about ME2 in the time that I'm playing it. As I said, I can't wait to meet and romance Liara again.

I've just realised, does anyone realise who the matchmaker is and who first mentions Liara to you? UDINA. :o

I know, but Shepard still goes into the relay alone, shut down and depressed.

Regardless of how much BioWare screwed up ME 2, and regardless of how they may screw up ME 3, they can never take ME 1 away from us. And nothing can change or diminish my enjoyment of that particular game. Just treat it as a stand-alone game, forget ME 2 and pretend the story is over when you reach the ME 1 finale. Maybe if ME 3 rectifies the situation, ME 2 can be treated differently and we will have a trilogy after all.

The picture scene is really quite powerful for us Liara romancers. It's like Shepard knows all the hardships that Liara has been through, how much his/her death tore Liara apart, and is staring deep at her photo as if vowing to come home alive, so he/she doesn't put Liara through that again. Sad.

There's also another thing. Since one of the rewards for staying faithful to Liara in Mass Effect 3 could have players having the option to propose marriage (and I'm saying a POSSIBILITY!), that is one thing yet to be explored the Mass Effect universe: inter-species marriage. I'm sure that's common for asari, but but what about other species? In-game characters could be a bit iffy on that.

I like to think at that moment Shepard was thinking, "Damn I really should have talked to her probably at Illium when I had the chance.  Oh the Godess, I am an idiot."

The only thing that would worry me about that would be the damned media. Look what they did with ME1 when sex scenes were introduced. I think they'll avoid it for that very reason. I think it will end with a romance, that's about it.

A lot of the romantic content for Liara in ME2 can only be seen if you are looking hard enough.
It is a good thing BW put inidcators towards the Liara Expansion in the game.
I would be so sad if I thought that it was the end of the relationship. I would have probably thought there would be an Expansion coming, but I obviously wouldn't know for sure.

I agree, although the pictue scene is short, it definitely tells us how much Shepard loves Liara and misses her dearly.
It was a heartwaming moment seeing Shep look at Liara's picture and give her a silent I love you.

Udina > Joker.

As much as I hate Udina he did way more for Shep than Joker. (Shep meeting Liara for the first time ).
All Joker ever did is have Shep die for two years and leave Liara behind.

I don't think it was so much the interspecies thing that got the idiots pissed off, but more that there is brief PG-13 nudity. So for me, Shepard and Liara marrying and having children won't attract the attention of the moral guardians. It'd be a fitting tribute for Shepard and Liara's love, that they do marry and have children, and is something I'd like to see for having a romance with her over three games. It'd be a very heartwarming and moving ending.
