Cool.  Look forward to reading it.  I loved this scene in the game.  Shep comes off as a hurt lover in this scene, not a jerk and not a hero, someone w/ feelings.

hey guys! so i got the liara dlc and played thru twice (once on a romanced profile the other on my tali romance file) and i must say i liked it very much.... it made me like Liara a whole lot more also. I personally thought it was heart warming and emotional. But its pretty cool what stuff can do to you. Before this dlc i only thought Liara was "ok". Now i really like her even more. so long live liara cant wait for ME3!!!!!!

More defensive than angry; but definitely irritated. 

When I called her out for leaving me behind to chase the Spectre She told me she wanted to focus on the mission before and that I would have done the same, then when I called her out on that she brought up Miranda.

She was basically saying, "you're calling me out for putting my vendetta above our relationship; but you didn't seem to be so concerned with our relationship when you were fooling around with Miranda."

The feel I got from it was that she hadn't even concerned herself with the relationship (or anything else) since she had gotten obsessed with the Shadowbroker and she was basically looking for any justification she could find to defend that.

Like I said she was more defensive than anything else and when she mentioned it, she seemed more irritated that you were questioning her obsession with the Shadowbroker then that you cheated on her; because lets face it after you show up on her doorstep and she passes on saving the galaxy with her former lover to go after the Shadowbroker she set herself up for that.

PS:  I still hate the direction Bioware took Liara in ME2; but LOTSB at least made it more tolerable to me.  None the less I will be royally pissed if she's not back as a squadmember in ME3.  Even more so since she was incredibly fun to use in combat.  I paired her up with Garrus and had a blast hitting a cluster of mercs with Area Overload then having Liara send them flying with Wide Singularity.

Did you play ME1?  If no, I'm surprised you even considered her character "OK".

I've seen a lot of comments from people who only know her character from her appearance in the ME2 main game stating that they'd never want her on their squad in ME3 since she was just that weird/crazy **** who wouldn't give me any straight answers and had me hack all those terminals.  It's a real shame too since she was such a wonderful character in ME1.  At least the DLC showed a little of what makes her character great. 

Still, I want her to get done with this dirty Shadowbroker business and get back to archeology.  Considering what Bioware did to her character in ME2, I was reasonably satisfied with the conclusion of the DLC; but it still feels like you're leaving Liara to destroy herself.  I mean you get her away from her obsession with revenge and then you leave her to be corrupted by the immense power of the very dirty job of being the Shadow Broker.  It makes sense that you'd take advantage of the Shadow Broker's power to stop the Reapers; but it still feels like Liara is being used as a sacraficial lamb.

I'm hoping we get a chance to end the existence of the Shadow Broker once and for all in ME3 and get Liara back to being an archeologist.  She was a good archeologist.

I don't think the writers would let her inevitably be corrupted by that power. So as long as they wouldn't enforce an ending where Shepard has to make the ultimate sacrifice (in that case I almost certainly wouldn't buy the game), there has to be a happy end in ME 3. And that should obviously contain the chance for Liara to end her work as the Shadow Broker.

I've got mixed opinions about this. I really like Liara in a role of independence capable of looking at Shepard eye to eye as an equal as opposed to her being in a role of a squad member answering to her commander. I'd like for their little blue babies to be able to say ' my daddy saved the galaxy and my mommy ran the galaxy'. I think if BW can develop their relationship using visits to the SB base that include an ongoing dialogue with increasing depth and intimacy and perhaps a few missions that include her staying on the Normandy in Shepard's cabin.( I'd love to see the crew's reaction to and interaction with Liara either as Shepard's significant other)

On the other hand I'd like to have her back all the time. I'm at a loss though as to how that could occur without Liara failing at her attempt at autonomy and her attempt to help Shepard in a significant way defeating the Reapers. Perhaps once the Reapers are defeated or the knowledge required is no longer necessary then Liara can let someone else become the 'Dread Pirate Roberts'

1: Give her a computer terminal with an uplink to the Shadow Broker mainframe on the Normandy and 2: Have her order Feron to hold things down on the Shadow Broker ship.



Aside from that I don't want to see Liara being dependent on Shepard; but I don't think she needs to be the master of all the galaxy's dirty secrets in order to be independent.



I'd like to see her back on board the Normandy and playing an active role in figuring out how to defeat the Reapers by gathering intel and using her knowledge of archeology to help you find some of the weapons that extinct races used against the Reapers.



Aside from that what I'd really like to see is a scene where Liara (or your choosen LI) saves your life. The LI's in Mass Effect have done a good bit of the damsel/dude in distress bit and I'd like to see the tables flipped.

I'm not so sure the Normandy's systems can handle that amount of ongoing information plus the Normandy is tied to Cerebrus with TIM monitoring everything onboard.

I kind of think Liara wants to do what she's doing, at least for now.

Liara has already saved Shepard's life.

Again I think Liara and Shepard continuing on the path of their relationship with some regularity through a progression of meaningful and perhaps intimate dialogue/ romance scenes along with occassional missions together and liara occassionally onboard the Normandy interacting with the crew would be a better way for BW to advance the current plot even though I'd like to see Liara with Shepard all the time.

I took a few liberties with the dialogue after each Paragon interupt. These are what I'm going to use in my reworked fanfic. Please take into account that I am a hopeless frakking romantic and like the mushy stuff. lol! It's long... but what are everyone's thoughts.

***********Last one on Illium**************

“Liara... we’ll be jumping several light years... there’s time to talk.” He said.
Liara turned to face him. “About what?” She asked him coldly.
“About us Liara.” His voice had been so soft and warm.
“Shepard... listen... I’m... glad you’re here...” She began.
“But you’re worried there might be more terminals for me to hack!” He asked almost harshly.
“That’s not fair!” Liara snapped. “You were dead!”
“I came back Liara! I didn’t die! I... I didn’t die because of you!” He shouted.
“It’s not that easy!” She responded. “You can’t just come back! I thought you were dead! You can’t just expect two years of mourning to suddenly vanish!”
“I would... I would have thought that you might be... you might be a little happier to see me.” He spoke his voice almost a whisper now.
“I’m sorry Shepard... I can’t get into this. Not now. It’s too... let’s just focus on getting Feron back.”
The look in his emerald eyes is what did it to her. The devastation. The rejection. The loss. All the feelings that had tortured her for the last two years and she saw them in his eyes at that very moment for a single fleeting second. And then the mask that she had seen him drop into place so many times in the past returned and the sigh that left his lungs hit her like she had been thrown against the side of a building.
“Fine.” He said softly. “Fine. I... I came back to help you... to help you get your friend back. I came back to help you because I love you Liara T'soni. Even if... even if...” He looked at her. “Even if that means letting you go.”
Liara opened her mouth to reply but he had already turned and begun walking away.

When they struck the Shadow Broker’s ship he left destruction and death in his wake. He was taking out his own anger and mourning and loss on the Shadow Broker’s men. Their banter back and forth had stunned his companion Grunt, but even in the playful tone it was exchanged between them, Liara could hear the pain. The closer they got to Feron, the quieter he became, until there was nothing but the John Shepard who had obliterated Saren and the Geth on his way to Sovereign. Liara had watched him fight the Yahg without even blinking an eye, resorting to his fists and hand-to-hand combat against an opponent that outweighed him easily by at least two hundred pounds and towered over him by two feet. It was almost as if he wanted to endure physical pain to drown out the emotional pain. And then... as suddenly as it had all began more than two years ago... it was over. She would never forget their exchange then for it showed her truly how much he loved her.

**********Shadow Broker's base************

“It’s over... it’s... it’s finally over.” She sobbed, the tears streaming down her face. “For two years I...”
His powerful arms drew her to him and as she buried her face in his neck, he spoke the words.
“It’s alright Liara. It’s alright.” He whispered.
She could hear the resignation in his voice. The sadness that wracked his body... but his love for her only made him comfort her. Liara didn’t know what possessed her to do it... but she kissed him as they drew apart. She kissed him and all of the walls she had built over the past months; everything she had built to shelter herself started to shudder.
“Shep... Shepard I....” She stammered.
“Do you love him Liara?” He asked her in a voice that tore at her heart. She looked at him and suddenly realized what had been going on. All of this time... from months ago on Illium until right now... all of this time he had thought her desire for revenge for her friend had been something else. All of this time he had thought Feron was something far more than he ever was. Her azure eyes were wide as she gazed at him. He had returned to her... he had returned to help her rescue the man who he thought had taken his place in her heart. Liara blinked several times unable to comprehend this. What kind of man would do such a thing? What kind of man would break his own heart to see the woman he loved happy with another man?
“Shepard... I... why...”
“I love you Liara T'soni.” He said to her. “I love you. And if loving you means I have to let you move on with your life then... then that is what I will do. If this Feron is...”
Liara moved forward quickly and reached up to take his handsome face in her hands. “Oh... Shepard.” She gasped. “John... oh Goddess John! There has never been anyone but you John Shepard! Never anyone but you!” She stepped away from him, something still holding her back. “It’s... but it’s been two years... I don’t... we’re different people. You... you have your mission and...”
As the arms she had longed to feel wrap around her for two years pulled her close, those walls she had built that were shuddering before; now they came crashing down as he kissed her. Kissed her with a fervor that stole her breath away. And then her arms were wrapping around his broad shoulders and she was molding her body to his as she returned his kiss with equal ardor and passion.

An ardor and passion that only grew a hundred fold that night in his quarters. The night he spoke the words that would reverberate within her for the rest of her life.

**********Shep's quarters**************

“...You’re alive again John!” She told him as she moved up closer to him. “I've got everything I want.” She moved even closer, looking into his emerald eyes and feeling herself shiver with desire. “Tell... tell me what you want John.” She spoke wistfully. “If this all ends tomorrow... what... what happens to us?”
“I don’t know... I was thinking marriage, old age and a lot of little blue children.” It was not what Liara had expected, especially with how confident and comfortable he spoke them. She stepped back and shoved him gently in the shoulder.
“You... you are just saying these things.” She stammered. She pushed away from him and turned to walk to the desk along the bulkhead, her mind and body awash in feelings she never thought she would experience again. She placed her hands on the desk as the tears flooded her eyes. “Oh... Goddess.” She gasped. “You... you were dead.”
“I got better.” He told her.
“This time.” She gasped as she turned around and looked at him. “But you’re going to leave again?” Liara shook her head and moved to stand beside his bed as she gazed up into the stars through his view window in the ceiling. “When… when the reapers finally do arrive… you’ll dive into the fray. Liara felt him come up behind her and she turned. His hands reached for hers and she met his emerald eyes. “I spent two years mourning you John Shepard… so if we are going to try this… I… I need to know you’re always coming back to me.”
John moved closer to her, looking down into her azure eyes. “I don’t know…” He quipped almost playfully. “That’s a pretty big promise to make.”
Liara couldn’t help but smile as look at him seductively. “Oh… is it?”
He leaned close to her and Liara felt her skin flush and her heart begin to race as his lips drew close to her exposed neck and she felt his warm breath caress her flesh. She almost whimpered at the exquisite sensations that swept through her. Sensations that only he could bring out in her. “I have to have something special to come back to.” He whispered as his lips lightly grazed her flesh.
Liara could barely contain the desire within her now. The need to feel him touching her once more. One of her arms went around his shoulders as she tried to maintain her composure even as the flames within her grew more intense. “I’m… I’m open to suggestions.” She gasped into his ear.
“Tell me…” His arms slipped around her waist and drew her close to him. “Tell me you love me Liara T'soni. Tell me you love me and nothing… living or dead… will keep me from always coming back to you.”
“By… by the Goddess yes… John Michael Shepard!” She hissed blissfully. “I do love you! More than I have ever loved anything in my entire life!”
When his hands touched the small of her back and pulled her against his powerful body Liara surrendered all she was to him. As her eyes became black and their meld initiated, Liara felt the love pouring from him. A love so powerful it swept her up within its embrace and she surrendered to its divine enchantment.
And their love was reborn.

Not that i can right any kind of story at all, but something i think would make the story better was if there wasn't so much stuttering (The lines were shep or liara would go "I.....I....I love you"). It was great for a while, but imo it became too frequent.

I always wondered that if Shepard and Liara succed in saving the galaxy, and help preserve some sort of multi-species council. Would their child (once grown up ofcourse) make a good specter?
