I've finally played LotSB, and it was awesome. However, I wish I didn't spoil myself of damn near everything. Also, I wish that there was more renegade interrupts, or just renegade interrupts period. Anyways, Liara is awesome now in my book.

I don't know how many of you will remember me, but I just wanted to say to those who do that I officially like Liara's character now. She felt too young to me in ME1 and she seemed a little unhinged in ME2 (based solely on her obsessive behavior and expressions of depression), but now that LotSB has come out and I have played it I am playing ME2 again (after doing a completionist playthrough with all the major DLCs) in order to make a romance with Liara one of my Cannon Sheps.



Not trying to start anything, I just thought those who remember me would like to know.

Oh, I remember you from a bit back.  And all I'll say is, that's how successful LotSB is at tying things together, isn't it?  Someone I know who had an opinion that Liara was an archetype, not a character, in ME1, considered LotSB to be genuinely good character development.  And now someone who considers her to have been originally too immature has been swayed by this... okay, I'll stick through the credits carefully (assuming the DLC credits have been appended like the others I've seen), take note of everyone credited as a writer, and award them one thousand internets and track them ALL down for hugs .  It's damn near universal, this was good bloody writing.

Yeah, it was very good. I enjoyed the banter a lot. It really added to the whole thing to have the two of them talking like that.  It also made her seem more whole, if that makes any sense.  She seemed so broken in ME2, and this DLC really pulled her full circle.

Plus, it's so cool to have a close friend as the SB. It felt much better to have her behave as an equal with shepard. The situation is similar to why I enjoy Garrus so much, they're just good friends.

Looking back, my biggest problem, based on my own guilt issues (I have an overactive guilt reflex and have often forced others into things) is that Liara was too subservient in ME1. Maybe more than her immaturity in some things it was the nature of her feelings for Shepard that bugged me.



I don't like to hurt people and I would bend over backwards while juggling chainsaws before I forced someone into something or made them feel like they were being forced and so subservience irritates me. I want people to do what they want, not what they think I want.



And in ME2 she just wasn't whole yet, she hadn't yet moved from the subservient Liara of ME1.



Oh, and to define subservient, I don't mean she goes out of her way to please Shepard or anything, I mean mainly that her romance felt like it meant so much to her, like she felt that she was lucky I was interested at all. I like others to feel like they are my equal, not beneath me in any way.



Just my take though, still not trying to start anything.

And I have come to feel similar about the Tali romance as I did about the Liara ME1 romance. Tali just feels like she feels lucky to have my attention.

Also Liara is a well known and respected information broker in the area. Perhaps only Aethyta is aware of Liara being her daughter (Liara has never seen her father, has she? But how does Aethyta know? Did Benezia send/give her an image of Liara?) and holds the secret from Liara for some reason? Perhaps because she thinks she could be used as a weapon against Liara, being an information broker?

Goodwood suspects that Aethyta knows about most of what her daughter, Liara, has been up to, but not everything. She is likely to be aware of Shepard and Liara's involvement in recent galactic events (that whole business with Saren, or whether or not they're "an item", as Kasumi puts it, for example}, and probably feels that she would only be a disruptive influence were she to make contact with either party. Goodwood thinks that it's not unreasonable to assume that Aethyta and Benezia parted ways not all that long after Liara was born, and that she may have kept tabs on her daughter -- and Benezia.

Goodwood can't help but wonder, however, if Aethyta might be a Chekov's Gunman...

Yes, Goodwood is still being possessed by the spirit of Handheld. He doesn't mind this -- it is an interesting exercise in characterization, which is important for a would-be writer.

Struck by one of the strangest ideas in my personal recent memory;

If Liara were a Horseman of Apocolypse, which one would she be?

Just played LOTSB with my pro-human pro-Cerberus renegade femshep.

And as much as I love the DLC. And how it actuelly gave our Shepard a personality and have friendly banter with Liara, which is good. Since most of my Shepard always had a good relationship with Liara.

Excecpt for this Shepard.

It actuelly made me unable to enjoy it mostly because the Shepard always acted OOC 90% of time, I don't wish Bioware to change Shepard back to being an emotionless brick and not having any banter, but I guess the price for that is making one my Shepard act OOC all the time!

Would be cool if Bioware would be able to change how the banter is, depending on how you treat the diffrent squadmates. But I guess we have to wait for the future in order to be able to do that.

I'm not 100% procent sure but doesn't the four horsemen consist of..

Hunger
War
Diseases
poverty?

Liara would be......

I don't know, none of those are excatly core parts of Liara's character (or any part of her character at all!).
