Hello everyone. I gotta say, some of the fan art you guys have put out is outstanding, and I'm a big Liara fan myself.

Anyways, I have doubts if Liara will actually appear in the next game as a squadmate, but maybe a "better version" of what she was doing before LotSB (intelligence work, giving that info to Shepard).

Also, I figured you guys might like this. It's a video I put together about LotSB, and features plently of Liara.

Agree, great work. Did you even re-synch her lips to what she's saying at 1:13?

Actually, I didn't. I was just careful enought to make it look synched. But thanks for the feedback guys.

Awesome. You really know how to make us Liara fans happy. :)

Oh, and when did the Shadow Broker say, "Cerberus can't save you now!"? I never caught that in my playthrough.

Anyway, that was incredible! :)

My only suggestions would be to fit "I couldn't let you go" in there somewhere and replace with a hot-looking FemShep ;)

But again great job. Unlike all too many youtube videos out there, this qualifies as a legitimate use of "Two Steps From Hell".

Vasir's remark about Cerberus combined with the shot of TIM putting out his cigarette, and SB's remark about "civilian casualties" combined with Sekat getting blown away are especially nice.

During the fight, along with "This time you'll stay dead, Shepard."

I actually never  thought about using that line, good idea! I don't have a female Shepard file at all, so....Image IPB

Yeah, Two Steps From Hell has a ton of overused music, but I was listening to this one and the opening grew out of it almost right away. Image IPB

Spot on. I had to rip all the LotSB audio out of the PC version to make the trailer, and stumbled on the line that way. First time I ever heard it myself, but I figured with the earlier mention of Cerberus that would be a neat little closing line. (There's also a line or two directed at Liara, including "You are nothing, T'Soni.")

Here you go: http://www.masseffec...es.com/fpsl.php ;) I used the Kate Shepard save. Not to knock Mr. Meer, but once you listen to Ms. Hale's voice acting, especially during LotSB, you'll never go back.

All kinds of interesting stuff buried in there, from what I've seen on YouTube. Harbinger apparently has an extended closing speech as well, including some apparent spoofs ("we will add your distinctiveness to our own" or some such).

There's actually a few scrapped lines in LotSB, like Liara asking for the skycar to have clearance in traffic upon taking off.

Thanks for the link though, when I get through my most recent playthrough, I'll give FemShep a shot Image IPB

Best scrapped lines from LotSB:

- Liara: Shepard, are you driving with your eyes open or just using the Force? AAAAHHHH! You made me spill my latte!
Shepard: It's a rough war, T'Soni.

- Shepard: Wow, a traitorous Spectre. That's a new one on me.
Vasir: At least I didn't, oh, KILL  THE  COUNCIL or anything.
Shepard: You can thank me later, sweetie.

- SB: Thank you for brining me Joker, T'Soni. I need a new pilot for this big-ass ship.

- SB: Thank you for bringing me Ms. Chambers, T'Soni. I need someone to feed my fish. (A week passes.)  ARRRRGH!  SCALE  ITCH!  DAMN YOU, T'SONI!

- SB: Thank you for bringing me a Collector, T'Soni. I -
Harbinger: ASSUMING  DIRECT  CONTROL.
SB: Uh...thank you for bringing me Harbinger, T'Soni. I - ARRRRGH! (dies)
Harbinger: I  KNOW  YOU  FEEL  THIS!
Liara: That's gonna leave a mark all right.

- SB:  Vasir was expendable. All her death cost me was time.
Liara: She also totalled your Miata.
SB: ARRRRGH!

- Shepard: Hey, Liara, when are you coming to the Normandy for drinks? Hint, hint.
Liara: Just a minute, Shepard, I want to finish this surveillance video.
(on the screen) Samara:  By the Goddess, Shepard, that was incredible.
Shepard: Uh oh.
Liara: (squinting at the screen) ...Mother?!
Shepard: Um...can't I have you both?
(later, as she drifts through deep space in a leaky suit) : That line never works.

Samara is not Liara's mother. That is Benezia. And if the videos in LotSB can be taken seriously, it is very likely that the Asari bartender on Illium is the other parent.

Of course, in ME 2 when Tali tells you she first fell in love with you when the dashing commander saved her and took her along for a galaxy-spanning adventure to save all life, I was thinking 'Deja Vu, that's what I did for Liara in ME1'

Okay, there's where I'll really have to disagree with you. Liara's attraction to Shepard is not based on "Ooo! The brave hero, Commander Shepard swooped in and rescued me!". The beginning of her attraction to you has to do with what kind of person Shepard is. Especially when you take the inital meld into account. She's attracted to (first name) Shepard, who they are and what made them, not Commander Shepard, Hero Of Elysium/Soldier Of Torfan/Survivor Of Akuze and the legend surrounding it.

The biggest problem I had with the Tali romance was the fact that I felt her attraction to you was based on the latter.

I agree, Liara likes Shepard more for what he is, and not for his rank. Regardind Tali, i don't know, maybe in ME1 she likes Shepard only because he gave her the chance to travel the galaxy and have a really nice adventure on her Pilgrimage, but now she is starting to look at Shepard like a man, not a commander.

This is probably why Liara went over Shepard's body, and Tali not, she preferred returning to the migrant fleet. It's likely that the ME2's Tali would have tried to save Shepard's body just like Liara, but now it's too late, Liara will find and save Shepard SEVERAL hours BEFORE he is killed :P

EDIT:

Good video cpunchmaster :D

That video reminds me to speed up building this gaming computer. I'm throwing together a couple video ideas as soon as this thing gets put together.

First one being Zaeed/Garrus/Shepard trio of badassery to the tune of burn it to the ground or something. Just to get me used to video editing.

Does anyone know when the events of Retribution happen. I read the book but it doesn't mention time frame.

Goodwood reckons that it takes place within a few months of the end of Mass Effect 2. This is evident in how the Collectors are regarded in the narrative as well as exposition in regards to Cerberus's relationship with Shepard.

Just wrote another good half page or so on my fan fic oneshot involving Liara. It is now half past twelve, and I told myself to be in bed by ten. Oops.

Goodwood knows all too well about getting caught up in writing and losing all track of time. He hopes you continue to have fun with your story, however... B)

It would be nice to know when the events of the book take place, some interesting stuff (like Shep being 'off the grid', hanging out on Hagalaz perhaps?). But as Goodwood said, I think it takes place no more than 6 months (more like 3-4 months) after the end of ME2, but I have no proof.

Ok... that's what I'm figuring. It works cause my fanfic starts six months post LotSB.

It's interesting that this thread is so silent, even with the release of LotSB... Did the various bits of infighting really shatter the fandom so badly? Or is it something else...

I was reading the earlier posts, and there was a link to the "Devs really ruined Liara!" thread, which I participated in heavily. Funny, back when we were all furious about the character derailment and wrecking, people were much more unified... Now that the DLC was actually released, and was so good it drew back even curmudgeons such as yours truly, there is seemingly very little discussion to be had.

I guess some people were and are just too annoyed with some things in this thread. I don't blame them.

Plus, LotSB really delivered almost everything that we hoped for. People are usually more active when there is something to complain about, whereas praise is usually not repeated that often. Furthermore, ME 3 has been released months ago, and the forums as a whole aren't as active right now as they were.

There is still ME 3 around the corner though. It does seem as if the developers of LotSB listened to the things said in this thread, so maybe further discussion about what we'd like to see in ME 3 wouldn't be futile.

Re Retribution timeframe: Nick was 12 in Ascension ("a few weeks after the devastating geth attack") and just turned 15 at the start of Retribution, so placing Retribution a few months after the end of ME2 sounds about right.
