I think that would be a nice opening scene to ME3 to have Liara and Shep joking around about something and talking about various things. Maybe the possibility of marriage would be brought up by Liara while they are talking. Obviously, they would be interrupted by Joker (damn him) before Shepard could answer, who would then tell Shepard something and it would start the first mission (with Liara as a squadmate).

I love that idea, i actually now want that to be the opening of ME3, even them just resting on the bed (the same way you can do with ME2 LI) before being interrupted.  I want to cuddle my blue goddess

You know, I thought about this and my gut told me the scene should open with Shepard telling Liara she's sorry for not being there for her.  Sorry she wasn't there these past two years, and sorry that Liara went through so much in the aftermath of what happened with the first Normandy and Shep's death, and sorry she didn't say more when they were reunited on Illos.

When I've said before about Liara opening up and dropping her emotional barriers and letting it all out, I think it's vital that Shep also apologises and lets his/her emotions go, too. Shepard should be feeling pretty guilty for everything Liara has been through, all for him/her, in the two years Shep has been gone.

God, the potential for the emotional romance rekindling is incredible. I hope BW follow through with it!

The good news though, is that there is no other way to continue the romance but to give us a lot of emotional and romantic conversations with Liara.
BW had to know this when they created the reunion, Liara is emotionally tormented, Shepard is the only one who could ever make her happy again.
They wrote the reunion themselves, the writers have to realize the direction they are taking the romance.
I am pretty sure that if they were not going to make the romance emotional and loving, they would have kept her on Ilos.

I am 99% sure we will get the emotional romance we want.

I hope you're right.  You're the most positive person considering what's happened.  So certain that everything will turn out ok.
