I think that TIM threatened Liara to stay away from Shepard, who he happens to view as his own investment.  He could have done this when Liara handed Shepard's corpse over to TIM, or afterward, once TIM was certain that the Lazarus Project would be successful.

What, exactly, he threatened her with is beyond me.  There could be any number of things, not the least of which would be the threat of turning Shepard against her, by lying to him, which he did, by telling Shepard that she works for the Shadow Broker.

Good point! After a melding of their minds though... what three or four times ingame in ME1 and then we don;t know how many times after that in the six weeks they were together... I just find it hard to believe he woul dhave that much influence over her or Shepard. Especially not after the greeting they had in ME2. It has to be something else. Something that someone is holding over her head.

Yeah, I don't think the Samara romance will have any effect on ME3 whatsoever.
You don't kiss her or anything, you just hold her hands, look into her eyes and try to.

Several times when I first played ME2, I kept checking Liara's picture all the time because Shep kept flirting with that damn Jacob.
I had to reload once because I tried to pick the Paragon conversation option and all of a sudden she basically said, "I want to have sex with you right now". (Obviously not in those words).
The only way to skip the romance is to go neutral with everyone. I have never had Liara's picture go down and I always shut those libidinous guys (Garrus and Jacob) down before they get to far.
Thane or Shepard never even mention romance if you talk neutrally.

I absolutely never romance anyone but Liara, so I'm fine. :D

Really though, I don't think Liara will go insane at Shep in ME3 if he/she was unfaithful. I can imagine that she'd just openly weep, due to everything she's done for Shep and that's the way he/she repays her.

I couldn't stand to see her any more sadder than she is in ME2. :/

I think a good indicator of what such a scene would be like is Liara's reaction when her request for hacking is refused. I did that by mistake on my most recent playthrough and it's touchingly sad.

What does she do, exactly?  I've never seen it.

I think it's entirely possible that TIM doesn't want Liara to fraternize with Shep anymore due to the fact that if Liara is working for Cerberus, she would probably have access to very sensitive Cerberus data, data that TIM wouldn't want Shep to see or know about. TIM could offer Liara protection from the SB, on the condition that she stay away from Shepard. When Liara then obviously refuses, I'd imagine TIM would then begin to emotionally manipulate her, telling her things like "Do you think Shepard will ever want to speak to you again after you handed his/her body over to us, a group viewed as the enemy?" TIM would then implant that seed of doubt and worry in her mind that Shep would hate her, and she would see that she has no other choice but to reluctantly agree to TIM's terms.

I agree TIM seemed very determined to keep Shepard away from former crew members and outright lied about Liara working for the SB. Definitely something shady going on there.

My feeling is that TIM/Cerberus is holding something over Liara's head to keep her away from Shepard.

Oh... no doubt about that. He flat out lies to you in the beginning of the game about Liara, and then he almost gets Ashley killed on Horizon. I put forth the thought again though... after so many mind melds do you thinnk it is possible for him to actualy manipulate her emotions that much? I see a more straightforward approach. He either has got someone or something to do with a person or information that he is holding over liara's head in some manner. And it ain't feron.

What about if TIM used the threat of a control chip in Shep's brain to force Liara? "Work for us in taking down the Shadow Broker, or Shepard will be implanted with a control chip, destroying all free will."

That's why I limit my activity to this thread and the group pages. :)

I have no time for people baselessly slagging off my favourite character.

Correct. I find it funny that my post with the completely harmless "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful" picture just got deleted in that thread. While people post idiotic pictures all the time. Oh well... But I won't waste my time with that thread anymore, the intent is too obvious. Not that I'd care or have any interest to persuade random people on the internet anyway.

Agreed, I wouldn't be surprised if he somehow convinced her that he would do something to Shephard or got her to agree to stay away if he saved Shephard's life. That would also explain her somewhat odd reaction to being asked to join the Normandy again.

By the way I love the fanfic AndroLeonidas it's brilliant.

I have the feeling that if the rumored Liara DLC is ever released, many truths about what TIM did to keep Shepard away from Liara will come to light, as both Shepard and Liara will be away from TIM's listening-posts - specifically, the ones aboard the Normandy SR-2 that Mordin and Tali are always finding, and, of course, EDI.

It would make sense for TIM to be manipulating her, since he lied in the beginning about who Liara worked for.
But the question is, what would he have to gain from it? She is against the SB and the SB is probably out to get TIM.
I am assuming TIM wants to protect himself but even TIM should see that Liara cannot defeat the SB by herself, even with the help of Cerberus.

I don't know, there might be another party involved that could shed some light on the situation.
You would think there would be a better way to find the SB instead of using Liara's love for Shepard to make her try and kill the SB (I am assuming that is what he is doing, it could be something else though).

Thanks. Will do more as she reacquaints herself with the old and new crew... but storyline wise can't move forward until issue 4 comes out and we find out what the heck is going on.Image IPB

Wow, I've been downstairs playing ME1, come upstairs and I find a bunch of new pages.

I was talking to a mod earlier real quick after Stubbs and I helped shut down a thread XD, he was sick with a fever. Maybe they've all got a bug. :P

Eh, let people hate, just as long as they keep it in their own thread.

Lol, I have had a sore throat for the past few days, maybe it is a Canadian sickness going around.

I should probably play ME1 right now.
I can never get enough of the Lovely Liara. <3:wub:<3:wub:
It is going to be hard to get through the next couple of months because I always get excited for the Liara Expansion and the emotional and romantic conversations we will have with her. <3<3:wub:

Some people argue that TIM could/would have retrieved Shepard's body without Liara, though he was willing to let her go and try because it was effectively free.  Then, if she were to be successful, TIM could shut her out from being able to get close to Shepard.

As for what TIM could gain from keeping Liara away from Shepard, I would say safety-of-investment.  He wants Shepard focused, and working with humanity (Cerberus') best-interests in mind.  That Shepard can fall in love with Tali is unfortunate, at least for TIM, and I say that without the intention of riling up the Talimancers.

I think Timmy want to made Shepard his version of Anakin "Vader" Skywalker so he try to cut every possible tis whit Shepard's "previous" life by launching information campaign to convince people that once hero of the Citadel (on my light side case) now is working whit Cerberus and  that's explain Ash reaction on Horizon and Liara's behavior on Illum.... but Timmy made grave and ery costly mistake of underestimating my Shepard

When i get renegade points for first hacking part of her quest i was little puzzled (by the way this fact could indicated that there is something wrong whit this quest) but i tell myself "So what?... if this will help Lili then it's fine in my book:D".

Good... time to go back on Therum and free Lili from that Prothean mine;).

Yeled, yes HK is definitely right, and I love having an informative discussion about Liara. Other times, I just like going all mushy and potty over her.

Somebody1003, normally the preview turns up on Comic Book Resources.
