It depends though on the asari's age.

If she is already in her maiden stage then she might not take on another partner since most asari settle down and raise children at that stage.
And after that most asari dont take on a partner when in the matriarch stage.

That's the Matron stage, not the Maiden stage.  In the Maiden stage, most Asari go out and explore and enjoy wild lives.

Maiden
Matron
Matriarch

You're also missing my point.

Well, if a Matron has an asari daughter, and she's out and about by the time she's I dunno, 40, It's very plausible that the Matron take on multiple partners and have multiple children. Especially if they're partnering with somebody like a salarian, who's short-lived. If your daughter is out in the world and you've still got another few hundred years to live, you'd probably have a few more kids too.

I think it's sweet, though. Do you remember the salarian and the asari by the shop in Illium, I think it's called "Memories of Illium." He was so worried about getting something that his partner would remember him by, and the daughter kept assuring him that neither she nor her mother would forget him, and that she would love whatever she got her mother. He was particularly worried about the fish, because she would outlive it just like him. It was sad, but it shows the emphasis that asari place on remembering the good times they have with their partners. They seem to take that to heart, or at least some of them do.

But moving on in life and having multiple partners is how they roll. :P

In my mind atleast there firstborn would be a Shiara from combinding Shepard and Liara

The stages look like this:

Maiden; begins at birth and is marked by the drive to explore and experience. Most young asari are curious and restless.

Matron;  begins around the age of 350, though it can be triggered earlier if the individual melds frequently. This period is marked by a desire to settle in one area and raise children.

Matriarc; begins around 700 years of age, or later if the individual melds rarely. Matriarchs become active in their community as sages and councilors, dispensing wisdom from centuries of experience. Their knowledge and guidance may be one reason why Matriarchs are rarely seen outside asari space.
However, it should be noted that, each stage can be started whenever an asari feels that she has reached the correct level of maturity. While each stage of life is marked by strong biological tendencies, individuals do make unexpected life choices. For example, there are Maidens who stay close to home rather than explore, Matrons who would rather work than build a family, and Matriarchs who have no interest in community affairs.

In ME 1 Liara tells Shepard that see is ONLY 106, hardly a child by asari standards.

The only problem with that is that it sounds awfully close to

a)Shiala, the mystical green asari :P

b)Sha'ira the asari "consort (and occasional prostitute)"

Well, from a role-playing standpoint, as far as my Shepard goes, he trusts Samara more than anyone, the exception being Liara, of course.

He would ask Samara for her to be the Godmother to his children (and explain to her what a Godmother is, if the concept is unfamiliar to her).  Then, he would ask her if she wouldn't mind if he was to name one of his own children after her.  Then, of course, he would ask Liara if she's okay with this, too.

For some reason,  I have the number "four" stuck in my head as the number of children they would have.

I was discussing the number of romantic implications present when a non-Asari has an Asari as a wife, and when a non-Asari has a child with an Asari.

I do believe that the Asari are my favorite race out of them all (It is not just because I love Liara fanatically either).
They are very interesting, romantically, they have to deal with the deaths of their spouses and seem to be able to move on sometimes (I guess it depends on how much they loved their spouse).
It can be saddening to think about it when their partners die, they have to live on without them. But, I guess they always have a part of their partners with them because of the Union.

I think the Asari are amazing on a biological level (not just because they are a race of females, lol) their life span without mechanical aid or biological engineering is amazing.
Even the actual act of the Union is interesting to think about, they can look into their partners memories and become "one" with them.

I believe they are my favorite race in any video game.

They can also make their nervous system and their partners one during the melding.

I wonder how Liara would take it once Shepard really does die, and she was his romance.:crying:

Have you noticed that we've never met an asari Spectre? We've met a couple turian Spectres and of course our favorite human Spectre. But no others. I guess an asari Justicar isn't very different...but I find the idea of a young asari Spectre kind of awesome.

Indeed, they can become "one" during the melding as well.
I always love seeing Liara's eyes go black.<3

BioWare could play off of the cybernetics, Shep could very well live to be a 1000.
I don't know if any other being in the galaxy has as advanced cybernetics replacing various bodily parts.

Not that I would complain but 1000 seems a bit much for usual lifespan of 150, even with cybernetics.

But it would be nice if they did that, then you can stay with Liara for a long time.

Asari romance with other spieces is not unlike that described by Tolkein when it comes to romance between elves and men.  There is a poem (either at the end of Return of the King or in the Simarillion) about an elf whose love dies and she goes on after him.  Very sad.

I just meant it could be done.
I honestly expect to have the technology necessary to live until 300-400 in the next thirty - fifty years, so that would be why I would say 1000 is likely.

It all depends on if the writers want to go for a really happy ending or not.

Happy doesn't always equal best. :P

You can have an incredible, moving ending, and it can be really sad.

Not saying I want a sad ending though. I'd love to ride off into the sunset, alive and well, with Liara.

Riding off into the sunset with Liara would be the perfect ending to ME3.
Hell, it would have been the perfect beginning to ME2.
Even though my Shep is always a Paragon, she would have said, "F**k Joker, lets get the hell out of here Liara!" if the option was available.

Now, General, keep remembering one thing -- Shep's job is to get everyone off the ship.  Granted, it's hecka rude of Joker to refuse to evacuate if he knows this, and of course he knows this...

Still, I admit to being tempted anyway ...

... and I still think that my Shep living to a hundred sixty and having Liara, as well as their 80 year old, 100 year old and 120 year old daughters around her bed to see her off, counts as a happy ending.  Shepard wouldn't really be leaving her alone, in that case, right?
