Les, what did you think are the chances of the Redemption #4 preview appearing this week? I'm hopeful, seeing as the comic is due 3 weeks on Wednesday and the #3 preview was released about 3 weeks before that issue.

Pretty confident, to be honest with you I thought that the preview would have been released last week as the preview for #3 was released at a similar date last month.

Looking forward to it though, can't wait to figure out just what is REALLY going on with Liara in ME2.

Me too. I'm very interested in how much of the comic will dedicated to setting up Liara as we see her in ME2.

Have you noticed the name of that book? It's Mass Effect Volume 1: Redemption, seems like they plan on releasing more stories via comics in the future.

Hopefully yes, but that doesn't necessarily mean more comics. Requirement for more comics is good sales.

It's selling out release-day here in NYC, which is surprising, considering that we have Midtown Comics.  Issue #1 and Issue #2 are on a reprinting.  That should tell you something about their popularity.

They are reprinting fist issue for the third time. I think the sales must be pretty good then.
Still waiting for mine...

Maybe the theoretical Liara DLC will be called Volume 2 (I very much doubt this, Volume 1 implies a Volume 2 in comic format). Still, it'll be interesting to see what BioWare come up with in the future.

I noticed that on Amazon, morrie. However, when I actually looked at the front cover for the book, it just says "Mass Effect: Redemption". There's no mention of it being volume 1 or anything. So I think it may just be a mistake on Amazon's part.

Forbidden Planet also lists it as Mass Effect Volume 1: Redemption, still you're right Les, could be a mistake.

Like Stubbs says, the way Liara has been written in ME2 and Redemption and the fact that her only motivation for recovering Shepard's body was love and because she "couldn't let (Shepard) go" means that realistically they have to include emotional dialogue in the DLC. It'd feel unnatural if Liara and Shep didn't open up to each other, particularly if she's your LI.

You mean unnatural like it felt in ME2, right?  My pessimistic side says that while all your points are valid, they were also valid for ME2.  And we all know how that went.

I think they could have also done the conversation where she talks about giving your body to Cerberus better if she was your LI too.

It is exactly the same regardless of whether or not she was your LI. Except for a little added emotion I believe.

It would have even been nice if that conversation was just exclusive to people that romanced Liara.

Been thinking about this and I agree, they could have added something to that conversation for those of us that romanced Liara.

Keep what she says already, as the implication is that Liara loves Shep regardless of reciprocation and fits with her motivation of doing it out of love, but maybe add some more lines to the conversation such as Liara saying "What we experienced together, how close I was to you, I could never just accept that you had died. The night before Ilos meant to much to me, you mean so much to me, Shepard" Something to acknowledge the difference.

That would have been great, both Ashley and Kaiden mention the night before Ilos in their e-mails, but Liara never once said anything about it.

I really hope they do a good job with her dlc, and add some great content or little extras for us Liara romancers.

Which leads me to believe that they're waiting for the Liara DLC before she'll really open up, and reveal all of her emotional pain and torment, possibly in Shep's cabin on the way back from the mission. That'd complete Liara's ME2 role, and it leads perfectly into ME3 when the relationship will begin to deepen and develop into a true bond for those of us who kept her as our LI throughout the trilogy.

Just had a thought, I wonder how Liara would react if, as she enters Shep's cabin to speak to him/her, she notices the picture on the desk? I think it'd mean quite a bit to her, considering how much she feared Shep would hate her.

Liara seeing the picture would definitely be cool.  It might be a nice way to open the dialogue, should we ever get a chance to have that dialogue.

Well hopefully they'll start saying something about the next set of DLC soon since everything but the Liara related content has been covered already. I'm really hoping it is story oriented, even if it isn't directly related to important stuff (Liara!) some strong story oriented content would definitely put a bit of polish on the hope for a proper treatment of the relationship in the near future.

Someone, from GDC time, said they have a larger ME2 release scheduled for early 2011/late 2010. I imagine this will be unveiled at E3.

We will have to cross our fingers until e3 I imagine, unless we get hints after Redemption #4.

Do you mean a ME2 release, vigna? ;-)

What if we get the Liara DLC after Redemption, but we then get further Liara content in this karge release next year? The supposed "bridge the gap" content which will have Liara begin to resolve her problems and get her closer to rejoining the Normandy with Shepard?

As much as BioWare kind of screwed ME2 up by catering to the shooter fans (probably EA's fault) from what I have seen, companies will try to make as much money as possible off of the initial product then they will put out more substantial products after.

Believing the Liara Expansion will be exactly the same as ME2 is just a fear, if you look at the facts that have been found, it shows that BioWare was actually trying to give us indicators to an emotional Liara Expansion.
If BioWare was not planning on giving us an emotional Expansion, why are there emotional indicators?
BioWare could have easily had Liara not give a rat's ass about Shepard and had her sit there stone-faced.
Now, in my opinion, it would be harder for BioWare to animate the subtle differences between the Liara LI scene and non-LI scene.
If you truly think that BioWare will not give us an emotional Expansion, why did they even bother wasting the time and money to give us subtle hints how much Liara loves Shep.
It would have been easier on them to not have Liara smile and have her stone-faced, instead, they gave us those subtle hints of how emotionally tormented Liara is and how much she loves Shep.

If you look at the DLC that is being released right now, Hammerhead/Kasumi, what else were they supposed to be but shooter missions?
We all shot things in the Mako, the Hammerhead can be thought of as the new Mako.
Even Kasumi and Zaeed, what else were they supposed to be except new squadmates?
Zaeed is a gun-for-hire, there is no emotional involvment with him whatsoever he is there for the money and nothing else.
As far as I can see, Kasumi is a thief and also as no emotional involvment with Shepard, she is just another gun-for-hire.

Those DLC packs tell nothing of what BioWare is really up to, they all have to follow the set ME2 story, it would be kind of strange for Kasumi to have her own epic adventure when she is just another squadmate.
I honestly don't know what you could even do with the Hammerhead except shoot people.

I am completely convinced that we will get the Liara Expansion we want (emotional, romantic, deep storyline).
BioWare has actually gone out of their way to make Liara emotionally suffering, why would they do that if it wasn't going to be emotional?
They could have turned her into a stone-cold killer who doesn't care about Shepard after two years, but they didn't.
She still loves Shep more then anything.
Having Shep sit there like a moron was weird and frustrating, I will give you that, but it was most likely a mistake made by BioWare due to time constraints or the comic book itself (sometimes ideas like that seem better in your mind).
I would imagine BioWare would actually fix the first reunion in the Liara Expansion, it would make the rest of the Expansion make more sense.

I would just like some differences between the LI Liara and the non-LI Liara.

More so then her just smiling and showing a little more emotion, maybe a little extra side dialog. That would make me one happy man.

You edited it, now I look like a right clown, heh.

Basically, everything that Stubbs said. Liara's ME2 role is rooted in emotional pain and torment after what happened with Shep. It's been set up so that Liara will have deep, emotional content.
