Liara whispers something to FemShep as she moves her head in for the kiss. It's completely absent in the DudeShep reunion.



I may have to look at the reunions side by side, too. Annoying that's it's so subtle and easily missed, but hey, at least it's a little more recognition of the romance, right?

Yes, thats exactly what I meant. I dont want these little hints here and their that I have to look real closely to notice.

I want Liara to tell my Shep she loves him, and for him to tell her back!:wub:

Right, I'm thinking it was a glitch. i also don't think i got the wheel dialogue option on that first play through...arrrggghhhhh.

I just listened to a video of femshep Liara reunion, I didnt hear anything after the kiss though.:?

I've never seen the whisper and my last two playthroughs have been with Fem-Sheps. I guess Liara is more "smiley" when you are a romance, but I can't confirm that. Either way, she is reserved as she fears she is being watched. Considering her and Shepard's romance might be one of the worst kept secrets in the Galaxy, I am not sure why being open about that would necessarily be a bad thing...it would probably gross out the Shadow Broker/Cerberus or whoever is listening in.

^FemShep/Liara romance reunion. What she whispers is completely inaudible, and it's hard to lip read her.

Come to think of it....as an LI on that first play through I also didn't get the kiss it was more like a mind meld and then the whisper..it was totally bizarre.

Well, it seems there is at least one large expansion due early 2011, so if it deals with Liara/SB or even Kaiden/Ashley as well (bridging ME2-ME3) then it is definately going to be pretty comprehensive. It will hopefully answer a lot of questions...

One theory could be, BioWare could have been relying on the subtle gestures for the beginning of the Expansion to make sense.
Liara could have whispered something to Shep and that is why she sat there stone-faced.
Usually ideas like that seem better on paper.

Or it may have been an accident.
I believe BioWare will fix the first reunion the in Expansion no matter what.

I think it is probably just an animation script artifact from copy/pasting.  I rarely use Youtube and don't have any Shepards who haven't romanced Liara so I'm not sure if Liara says something during her movement to hug a non-LI.  If she does then maybe that got carried over when they adjusting her to deliver the smoochie.

The whole sequence was obviously changed a bunch of times during development, so who knows if the whisper was intentional, or an oversight, or they ran out of time, etc.



Really, it comes down to the fact that she's not developed very well in ME2. Too much information is held back from the player - to the point where it doesn't make much sense. We'll have to see what the final comic reveals, but it really seems like there must be some third party (cerberus, perhaps?) keeping her quiet for the reunion to really make sense.



If there isn't some outside influence, it's totally unbelievable she and Shepard wouldn't want to talk about their relationship.

It seems pretty clear that Reaper technology of some kind is going to be the undoing of the enemy.  Maybe Grayson is a prototype for what Shepard must have done to him?
