Nozy, that's what I mean by romantic dialogue. A reaffirmation of their relationship, perhaps some discussion on the future and Shep and Liara's continuing feelings for each other, and finally, after Liara's DLC has finished, being able to visit her on Illium and talk about more than "How's your own work going?"

For me, a Shep/Liara sex scene isn't necessary in the DLC. The relationship was consumated in ME1, and I can wait patiently for the passionate and special ending in ME3 for those of us who remained faithful to her. I'm happy with Shep and Liara talking it out, and reaffirming their love.

I agree.  Do I wish BW allowed players to take their ME1 relationships and develop them in ME2?  Sure.  I've said for a while now that BW needs to figure out a way to handle relationships that progress beyond simply winning the girl.

But at this point I don't see them retconing in a whole new LI storyline for Liara through dlc, especially since Ashley/Kaiden fans won't have access to such content for their LIs and also because BW definitely wanted you to take an interest in some of the other LIs in ME2.  But I would appreciate some decent dialogue in the dlc should it be released that acknowledges the relationship and allows it to progress in the minds of its players even if it doesn't necessarily move it forward storylinewise

Btw, there was an old topic on these forums that pushed the idea of a love pack or romance pack.  It was a pretty cool idea.  Did anyone else see it?

Something thing that bothers me: even with the explanation of her guilt over the body, her anger still seems out of place. The only way it makes sense is if she's actually angry at herself and it's being focused on the Shadow Broker.
Shepard should be able to call her out on that (or at least talk to her about it more), it would have been a great opportunity for character development.

I do  think a lot of the anger is directed at herself and the Shadow Broker is where she is focusing all that anger. Although I think if Liara has discovered that the Collectors are working with the Reapers a lot of that anger could be for the Shadow Broker. The Reapers are responsible for her losing the two most important people in her life, her mother and Shepard. I wouldn't have wanted to cross her after she sat in that shuttle, watched the Normandy explode and then discovered Shepard nevr got off so I certainly wouldn't want to cross her once she finds out that little tid bit.

The tiny little part of me that tries to remain optomistic likes to think that BW did all of this on purpose just so they could make an awesome Liara Expansion devoted to her and her story with Shepard without having all these other nobodies distracting them in the process. :P

The problem with this, and the excuse we'll be given, of course, is that dlc that includes romance plot progression will have to be incorporated in ME3.  Meaning that the third installment will have to account for decisions made in an optional add-on that many won't have, meaning it would be quite complex, meaning it seems very unlikely to happen in a way that makes any of us very happy.

Maybe but they did do it for BDtS and for Mass Effect Galaxy. Doesn't take much to add in a few more lines of dialogue for those who have played it because realistically any Liara related DLC/expansion is not going to drastically alter the relationship between Shepard and Liara so it wouldn't really require all that much.

It's not realistic to immediately jump their relationship back to where it was, though.
It's unbelievable that it wouldn't come up in the ME2 conversations, definitely. Shepard's not given appropriate responses for someone who is reunited with their love. There needs to be more natural dialogue from the Commander.
However, Liara's been alone and in danger for 2 years. I think she clearly does love Shepard and wants to rediscover their relationship - but it's not really a switch you flip. It's more realistic for the two of them to work it out over a period of time. Not as long as a full game, but not as short as a DLC, either. They need to spend a bunch of time actually together, then Liara can fully open up again.

I absolutely agree with you on this. My main problem with ME2 has always been how emotionally crippled Shep was. I wanted my Shep to acknowledge the relationship and work toward getting back to where it was before the Collectors destroyed the Normandy. I think jumping back into would be hard for Liara. For Shep it really hasn't been that long but for Liara it's been two years of guilt, anger and fear. Liara would need some time, probably not a whole lot but just enough for her to be sure that Shepard really doesn't hate her. They could have done this in the game with just a few more lines from Shepard. It wouldn't have taken much and they still could have Liara stay behind at Shep's urging because if the SB is working for the Reapers taking him out would be pretty important to the overall effort against the Reapers.

Thats a big understatement in my opinion, Shepard behaves like a emotionless cold hearted bastard! I wanted to punch my screen after my first run of Illum. They screwed up so badly it's ridiculous and as you say it would only have taken a few extra lines (+ hug interrupt) to avoid most of the mess that is Liara and Shepard. It's so damn frustrating, can't understand how they could let this get in the game and think it's a good idea. Do they realy think no one would be pissed off with the result? AAAGHHH!!

Yes yes I'll go out on the balcony and cool off a little <_<

Bumping for Liara. I missed her in ME2....I missed those sweet dance moves at FLUX.

She is with out a doubt the best dancer in the ME universe :) Kind of sucks you only can dance by your self in ME2.

Don't I feel like an idiot!?  How in the world do you get Liara to dance with you at Flux?  I've played the game several times through and never knew about this.  Can someone fill me in?

Yeah, my biggest problem with the reunion in ME2 is Shepard's reactions are totally unbelievable if he/she loves Liara. It's too obvious that the writers are forcing the uncertainty on the player; the only reason there's any uncertainty at all is because the game doesn't allow Shepard to talk to her as a love interest. I think it's pretty ridiculous that the only response to Liara's explanation about the body and her fear is to talk about the mission. That's not a natural response at all if Shepard cares about her.
They also missed a chance for some great exploration of the conflict within her. If she did get Feron killed or captured (or he sacrifices himself) during the search for the body she could feel guilty about that. Then she is confronted with the choice of reuniting with her love and her conscience. She could just leave, but that would allow the Shadow Broker to escape and deny the sacrifice Feron made for both her and Shepard.
I don't think Feron alone is enough to keep her from coming - there has to be more evidence of nefarious doings on the Shadow Broker's part, but it definitely can be a big piece.

Heh, what you have to do is make it so that both you and Liara are on the dancefloor at Flux, and then press A as if you're going to talk to her. Instead, you'll start dancing. I think you may have to be in similar positions to the video posted earlier in the topic though.

But yes, I love dancing with her!

I just finished KOTOR today and receieved the 4-in-1 Baldur's Gate set a couple of days ago.  Haven't played them in a decade (?) now.  I'm trying to immerse myself in a world where BioWare didn't break my heart.

PS.  Juhani gets screwed almost as bad a Liara.  We never could talk about us after the final battle like she said we would. :crying:

You bring back memories Mr. Shatner, have my Kotor box for 2 days on my pc triying decide if I want to reinstall Posted Image

Only BW game I never bought was Jade.

Noooooooo you must play Jade Empire. No matter how good other BW games are, nothing can knock JE off its position as my favourite (as I discovered when I bought the PC version and replayed the game last week) - there is nothing that it does not do well, replayability is high, characters are entertaining.

You guys want Liara as a squadmate? Why? As an info broker she could do so much good where she's at! I'm not against her as a LI, though. But really, If you gave TIM the bird then Liara is the best person to go to for Intel, but she can't do that if she is a Squadmate.

Liara is a hypocrite to the max.  She hates the Shadow Broker but she is IN THE SAME LINE OF BUSINESS as he/it is.  She has probably murdered quite a few people to get to the top of Illium's administration.  Its hard to cast stones when you live in a glass house...

More like we want to help her finish off the shadow broker so we can get her back on the team again. She's in information to track him down.

I only produce what the audience wants.  As to Liara, I actually would prefer her as a romance but I hope she drops the deep voice and I am a badass merc leader attitude.
