As for the secret Shep/Liara love-child ... I think that would work very well if this game where "Shepard and Liara: a Love Story", in which two people, literally from different planets, find each other while, incidentally, saving the galaxy from total extinction of all organic life.
Which, y'know, I would totally play. And would, in some ways, make a lot more sense as far as the extreme-ness of Liara's character arc from ME1 to ME2. I think the hardened/darkened Liara makes a lot of sense, considering what she's been through, but making the Maiden/Matron transition early (which the codex entry on Asari says CAN happen) on top of all the crap that's happened in the two years Shep was dead makes the severity of the change make >more< sense. Asari maidens feel a drive to wander around and see the galaxy, and experience things. While it was perhaps more introverted than usual, Liara's archaeological wanderings fit. The Matron stage is characterized by settling down into one place, having children, and basically having a more stable life - which fits in with setting up a respectable day-job as an information broker on Illium.
But, well - that fits fanfic more than a game, or some other kind of static story. Shepard is just too variable for that to be a viable arc in a video game, and it really >would< (as many other people have mentioned/discussed) absolutely require retconning how Asari reproduction works to allow for accidental pregnancy. No way Liara just decides to have Shep's baby without, y'know ... asking.
So ... for the Epilogue Baby Yes people and the Epilogue Baby No people ... what's your Shep's background? Personally, my Shep is a Colonist, so Shep's family was killed by Batarian Slavers. For me, this says Shep joined the Alliance to stop this kind of crap from happening to anyone else, and family is something Shep wants. My ideal epilogue would have Shep and Liara go on some more awesome adventures, but eventually settle on Mindoir, with Epilogue Baby Yes, where Shep's presence pretty much stops anyone from f-ing with Mindoir ever again, making it the human planet safest from outside attack other than Earth.
Uhh ... yes, I have a tendency to overthink things. Why do you ask?
