You know what would have been a good dialogue option in addition to "How's your own work?"

A "Peck on the cheek" option.

Be careful Somebody, some of your friends from the Tali thread might see that post.

Oh lol they know how I am now.
They found out recently my true LI and ever since I have been called turncoat and such.

Ah ok, nevermind then. Hope their not giving you too hard a time. I'm sure most of us on this thread don't mind if you rag on tali.

Howd ya know I frequented that thread?

Yeah I used to post originally there even though I never cared about Tali that much, and finally admitted to my love for Liara to them and found this thread.

You know, there's a lot of social pressure in our society to love Tali.  But for some people loving Tali doesn't feel quite right.  This leads to experimentation with other LIs, but even so the social pressures force many non-Tali lovers to hide their true feelings and continue to profess their feelings for Tali even when they aren't there.

Its often hard for families and friends to deal with this truth, but I'm glad you came out of the closet so the healing process can begin.  Hopefully your friends and family will come to understand and accept you for who you are.  And know you always have a family here should things get rough.

Yeah in ME Tali is like a good friend to my Shepard nothing more. I went there because I do support Tali but I always prefered Liara over her. Once some found this out they called me a turncoat.

But I dont care I will always love Liara.

Do you guys think they will really let new players romance Liara in ME3?
Personally I would prefer they didnt, I think that anyone who is going to play ME3 should experience the first two anyways.
I know that the default settings for ME2 suck if you dont import, and I personally am ok with that. I think that everyone should play each ME to get the fullest experience, as bad as that may sound to some new players.

Yeah, I would have loved that.
I have a good feeling that after the Expansion, we will be able to. <3

One thing that I believe is an indicator of the Liara Expansion being 15+ hours would be the fact that TIM lied to Shepard about who Liara worked for.
Why would he do that if Cerberus wasn't involved? It definitely means Cerberus and the SB are directly connected to each other (probably not in a friendly way).

I still wonder who the unknown organization would be, someone has to be protecting Liara from the SB, I don't think Cerberus has the capability of protecting her from the most powerful being in the galaxy (espeically when she is right out in the open).
The SB was trying to watch Liara instead of killing her (we know this because of the Observer), why does he believe she is such a threat?
Maybe he fears the organization she is working for or connected with more then her, so he is watching her to gather more information on the organization.

I still think the SB and the Reapers are involved in some way.
The SB could be watching Liara for the Reaper's motives instead of his own.
the Reapers seem to want to get Shepard pretty badly, that could have something to do with it.

I would be fine if ME3 allowed new players to romance Liara, but only if it had no detrimental effects on the Liara romance from all the way back in ME1. If the new Liara romance from ME3 is exactly the same as one that has existed since ME1, then what is the point?

I always default Shep to she.  I always play femshep (a strong woman kicking ass and saving the universe is just too cool), and so Shepard is a woman in my mind.  As far as I'm concerned the idea that Shepard can be male is rumor and conjecture at best.  I've seen no hard evidence!  Image IPB

I'm the same way.  I've been playing as the same femshep ever since ME1 launched, and I rarely (if ever) play as other Shepards.  I can't help but see the ME universe through her eyes.  So whenever I talk about Shepard, it's always "she."

I am pretty sure that the romance is over if you cheated on her in ME2 or didn't romance her at all.
She would be completely devestated and heartbroken if you cheated on her (it makes me so sad to think of Liara suffering even more than she already is:crying:. Liara Forever! <3).
I don't think there will be any more romances in ME3, it would be kind of strange to do in the last game.
I could be wrong though.

Yeah, I want the long termed romance from ME1 to be something much better. I stayed faithful to her and it should be worth something.

So I have to admit something. I hadn't played ME1 in two years. I know I loved the game and I know I loved the story and I know I loved the Liara romance, but honestly it wasn't very fresh in my mind. That was until a couple days ago. This thread inspired me to go back and create a new Shep and replay the original game that I had put up on a pedestal. And you know what I discovered?

The first game is great!

Ok, yes, the combat is clunky. I'm still having a bit of trouble unlearning what I learned in ME2. And there are little glitches here and there. And the inventory is kinda annoying. And while I like the general look of the armor, I hate that some of it is colored in ways that my shep would never wear and so I leave it off even though its better than what I already have.

But the story in the early part of the game is so damn compelling. Its all about the plight of humanity and their struggle to gain acceptance in a galaxy that is wary of them.

And Ashley and Kaiden are incredible. I love how they fit into the plot and everything, and how it makes sense that they are with you on the Normandy. I had underappreciated them the last time I played.

And I really enjoy Shepard, too. She's interesting, and her reactions to things are really interesting. She is essentially a top-flight marine, which I think is different than in ME2. She's more down to earth. More simple, but in a good way.

I can't tell you how much I've been enjoying replaying this game and finding the little easter eggs I'd forgotten over the years.

I'm on the citidel now, and haven't gone to get Liara yet. I'm super, super excited to do it, but I want to do it right. I may wind up replacing my earlier shepard with this new one as my default (which means I'll have to replay ME2 again), so I need the story to go the way I want it to. I can't wait to rescue her!

I agree, and if someone did cheat on her then it should have a large impact. My Shepard was all alone the night before the suicide mission, and he did it for Liara!
No regrets there.<3

I tend to agree with this for the most part. That's why when I romanced Miranda to get the achievement I deleted the saved game afterwards. All the rest of my games are Liara loves!!

Finally got the comics today!!! Just finished reading #3. I don't care what any noob to this game says... her reaction to the SB in that room is someone who is not just a friend. That woman wants her lover back and she wants him back REAL BAADDDDD!!!!!

Do you think its possible that TIM's line was a holdover from an earlier iteration of what was going to be in the game?  Meaning, do you think maybe BW messed up and had him say that and forgot to remove it before the game was released?  Or do you think they planned to have him lie and the whole thing was deliberate.

I actually kinda think it was an error.  TIM knows you're going to go to Illium, and that you'll probably wind up seeing her.  Isn't it pretty easy to get what TIM tells you varified, or not?  And there was no option to go back to TIM and pick the dialogue option, "You lied to me about Liara, and now I'm going to have to kill you!  And since I can't get to you I'll have to kill your proxy on this ship.  I'm sure Miranda is busy doing crap in her office.  Lie to me again and Jacob is next!"

I only got into the ME series in the beginning of December.

Cant get enough of it now though, I must have beaten ME1 at least 6 times before ME2 came out. It is great, if you took out the repetition for side quests and the 90 degree angles for the Mako it would be perfect.

I couldnt bear to cheat on Liara, I had to redo ME1 without a romance to get that achievment.
When I saw the picture face down after persuing Tali I had to delete that incomplete save.:pinched:

And even then I felt so bad telling Liara that I liked her only as a friend in that ME1 run.:crying:

I don't know, I guess there is always a chance it could have been an error.
That is actually the reason I would think TIM was lying, it would seem hard for BioWare to forget to take a line like that out when they have actually made a comic book series about her trying to get Shepard's body back from the SB.

There are definitely a lot of times during the course of the game where Shepard doesn't seem to give a crap about what happened to her, (being revived for one).
My theory for that is BioWare tried to make Shep too focused, to the point where she didn't question what anyone said.
Ideas always seem better in your mind.

Jacob needs to be threatened to matter what happens.
Damn you BioWare for making my Shep flirt with him no matter how mean I am to him!!!
And damn Garrus for his "I wonder how you humans relax"!!!
And damn Thane for trying to get the romance started by calling me a pet name!!!

This is slightly related to Liara:

Some guy is stating that ME3 won't have a save-file import feature. Weren't we told that we won't be able to import a save where Shepard dies? Even the loading screen tooltip says "Import a Mass Effect 2 save in to Mass Effect 3...if you survive."

Yeah, the only time you can't import your save into ME3 is if your Shep dies.
