One thing that strikes me: Liara fighting in the comic seems really out of character at first she's so shy when you interact in ME1. And then you think that she was next to Shepard during the entire events of ME1, blasting people. They didn't do a good job of rectifying fighter Liara (and she's a very good fighter) with scientist Liara in the game - but that's really difficult since her entire character development in ME1 is in relation to Shepard!
Not really sure how to solve that. It's hard to define a character when you only see them interact with the player. How did she handle herself before she met Shepard? We have no idea. How does she interact with other people? Awkwardly, I'd assume (which makes it hard to believe she'd become a savvy businesswoman in just 2 years without help).
She needed more interaction with other characters in ME1, though that's true of most of that game's characters, I suppose.

Perhaps she has been very reserved until now, that she has become so full of rage over whats going on, and has come out of her shell.Driveninhifi wrote...
Funny - only 4 pages so they don't reveal any secrets, heh.

Although I agree it is a bit wierd to see Liara like this, after what we saw in ME1.

Liara should just be the new Shepard! She can solo the Reapers!

Until we get some more information in the Liara DLC, I try not to put to much thought into it.Driveninhifi wrote...

I would go with the theory that she already had combat training prior to her involvement with Shepard.
The fighting in the comics is probably because of the different writer.
In regard to her character development from ME1 - ME2, I am pretty sure they will explain it in the Liara DLC.
It would make for some amazing emotional moments.

Yeah, that was my initial impression as well. It's hard to tell if the bullets are hitting the wall behind her, or breaking apart in mid-air. Either way... it's badass.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...
Looked to me more like Liara was dodging those bullets with some kind of biotic charge.

Well, no that's not what I mean. If you use Liara for most of ME1, think about how many people she kills. Think about how many people Shepard kills. The fighting really ISN'T out of character for her - it's just that all the game's character development is done on the Normandy instead of during the missions.
All your crew are super dangerous people that wipe out platoons of enemies constantly - this level of arse-kicking is believable when you consider that. It's just an observation of mine
And I think she's dodging to the side in that panel, the bullets are hitting the wall.

What's happened to Feron, though? That's obviously his pistol that Liara is using.
Maybe he has hung back to do something with the data he downloaded at the end of issue 3.
Hmm, how will this tie in to him getting captured and possibly sacrificing himself so that Liara and Shep can escape?
Be interested to see some of your theories. What do you think, Driven?

Realize also its a comic book, and comic books are driven by VISUAL action. They are not meant to go into great narration or detail as a book or film could. They have little room for such and we shouldn't expect a whole lot of that. In fact, considering four pages of the comic is clearly just ass kicking, and there is likely to be more, I can pretty safely assume that there is not going to be a whole lot of room for character exposition, introspection, or great emotional depth.
Its a comic book folks. Things blow up. Action, ka-pow. I think Liara's action packed attitude was played up exactly for that reason...there isn't time in a short comic to show "shy girl becomes badass" or explain why.
In other words, I wouldn't take Liara's personality as "canon" or necessarily what will be reflected in game. No character, even renegade Shepard, comes off so over the top "eat sh** and die".

If you notice the background, that whole scene takes place in the same computer room that Liara just destroyed in Redemption 3. And if they're responding to the comms going out and heading to that room, then it seems like there probably wasn't much time for Feron to do anything but tell Liara who he was working for. Then maybe he ran off on a stealth mission while she deals with the guards or something.
yeah, it seems like there isn't a whole lot of room left in one comic to get a lot in. With so much ground to cover, people shouldn't get their expectations TOO high about SHOCKING REVELATIONS and the like. If anything, it is catch up to prepare us for an eventual mission that deals with the SB issue, whether as part of a Liara DLC or larger expansion that links to ME 3 (in which case we won't see it for awhile).

A part of me is feeling a bit sad that the comics are ending, as that's Liara's pre-ME2 story pretty much done, but at least we've got the DLC to look forward to! Exciting times to be a Liara fan!

I am sure the Expansion will be everything we want (or around 95% of it, as it is impossible to get everything in there) it is honestly impossible to screw it up with the emotional storyline BioWare has setup.Somebody1003 wrote...

It will be beautiful (just like the Beautiful Blue Goddess). <3:wub:
I will indeed miss Liara in the comics, but a Liara Expansion will be a good trade-off for the comics.
Liara will make ME2 amazing (I know I will look foward to the Liara Expansion everytime I play it). <3
