I'm really looking forward to the fourth and final issue of Redemption, hopefully it'll shine some more light as to what happened to Liara and the situation she finds herself in during ME2.
New page, so I'm going to post another pic!

I do like the greater amount of smiles from Liara when she's your LI. I love her smile!

Which is a great thing for us, I love that we can make Liara smile a bit more, she needs every bit of happiness she can get until the Liara Expansion.

I always did think Liara smiled a bit more during the scene, when comparing both scenes, I thought that she did smile at least a couple more times as your LI.bjdbwea wrote...
Are you sure that's not only imagination? I've played only one character so far who wasn't in a romance with Liara, but I didn't notice any difference (except for the hug from Liara, which is nice too).

I have noticed that Liara does smile more, and I remember a member says that when he or she compared the two scenes side by side Liara smiles more, and she looks sadder when she opens her heart about Cerberus if she's your LI. It's definitely there, but it's waaaay too subtle.
Oh, and a Liara squee from me:

And when you tell her that you will help her hack those terminals she will say "this may help me repay a great debt" and smile while saying it.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...

Whenever I do the Normandy Crash Site, I always pretend that I recover all her personal effects from her locker (and Shepard's too). I figure that she must have some things from Benezia in there at the least. Then I give them to her when you meet her on Illium and there is much hugging, exclamations of joy, and some additional smooching.
Just be nice if Bioware helped out a bit more so I didn't have to cultivate my self-delusion so much.

Yes! I've just watched a video of a non-LI Liara on YouTube, and her facial expression is completely different from what I normally see, where Liara is obviously my love interest.
She smiles happily at Shepard if she's your LI, but seems very straight-faced if she isn't.
It begs the question, though, why be soo bloody subtle? Were they trying to alter the overall "tone" and "feel" of the reunion with Liara if she's your LI, so that she seems warmer and more friendly?

And I agree, it shouldnt have been so subtle. I shouldnt have to watch 2 youtube videos and compare them closely to notice.
Hopefully the Liara DLC will make larger distinctions and differences between those who did and did not romance Liara.

Maybe it's left over from the REAL scene?

I really don't understand the whole point either. I don't think "subtle" is the right word to describe it either, since you can only draw a comparision between two mutually exclusive playthroughs or with Youtube. That whole thing with the supposed extra 500 credits is the same way. I don't even pay attention to how many credits I get at any point in the game, let alone magically being able to ascertain that the amount I just received is 500 more than I would have gotten for being a friend.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...

I guess they could have been near the end of development with all the dialog recorded and so it was left to the animators to warm up the LI encounter. I suppose it'd be some effort, but that shake of the head at the end of the kiss just plain hurts each time. Even more so because you can't ask what the hell is going on.

It's too bad that you can buy fish and model ships, but can't buy some flowers or something for Liara's office. She needs some personal touches on her desk.

I would like to give flowers to Liara personally.
I am sure there will be happiness with Liara at the end of the Expansion, after all of the emotional scenes.

JP I always choose to interpret that headshake as Liara regaining her composure. We know that she's afraid Shepard will hate her, but when he/she appears in front of her again for the first time Liara probably got over excited, and couldn't help rushing over to the person she loves and giving Shepard a kiss. It's only during the kiss that Liara probably thinks "Oh Goddess, what does Shepard really think of me?! I have to stop!" and she pulls away. She feels guilty, and is terrified Shepard will hate her, but still can't resist rushing to him/her and giving Shep a big kiss.
Hopefully in Liara's DLC Shep can tell her she's got absolutely nothing to be afraid of, and Liara will fully open up her heart.

Yep, that's how I look at it as well. But still it was just agonizing to go through the first time when you don't know anything about what is going on. And this was back when we only had one comic. Even now it still hurts to see that, not because you don't know, but because you know there isn't anyway currently to make her feel better.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...

at the reunion Shep is temporary being possessed by a AI virus that got into his body tech implants and froze speech ability!bjdbwea wrote...
That is a believable explanation. What ruins the scene and any credibility comes then: A Shepard that just sits there and says NOTHING about it.

It's frustrating, I know, but I think it'll be worthwhile in the end when Liara and Shepard really open up to each other and Shep has the opportunity to comfort and console Liara.

BW did not forget about us, it would be impossible to after all they have done to create Liara's emotional suffering.
There would have been no reason to write the comics based on Liara's love for Shep or have Liara worry if Shepard would hate her if BW didn't care about her.
Even just the fact her comics are still selling out would be enough to get attention from both EA and BW for Liara DLC.
Although the scene could have been handled a bit better (I say a bit because BW wouldn't want to ruin the Liara DLC no matter what), what matters is that they tried to give us indicators as to what the Liara DLC will be like.
There are just too many instances in the reunion where it felt incomplete, it is definitely not developer oversight or laziness, it is just the fact the wanted to save all the emotions for Liara DLC. Unfortunately, they either went too far with trying to save all the emotions for the DLC (they could have thrown a hug or an "I love you" in there) or they wanted to patch the scene up quickly before the game was released.
Probably a mixture of both.
Can't wait for more of The Beautiful Blue Goddess, I love her with all my heart.
