I dont think asari can keep pregnancies dormant, I think they can just control at the time of mating whether or not they want a child.Unata wrote...
This is why I thought about a lovechild, first off we don't know how long an Asari carries a child or if they can store the genetics for another time, if she felt that Shepard was gone, why not bring that part of Shepard she has to life?

For the same reason he leaks to the Council, Alliance, and everyone else that Shepard wasn't dead and is working for Cerberus. And I do mean "wasn't dead" and "working for". That's why Ashely/Kaiden are so ticked off, everyone thinks you somehow escaped the Normandy and have been pretending to be dead so you could work for Cerberus. Thanks to you good buddy TIM.Somebody1003 wrote...
And I always wondered, why did TIM say that she was working for the SB?
He knows thats not true after what she did to get Sheps body back from them, so why lie to Shepard?
He wants you cut off and isolated from everyone else but Cerberus.
And because he's an evil dick.

Well I dont hate him as much as most people do, but if it turns out that he is part of Liara's suffering then I would have to do very, very bad things to him.JamieCOTC wrote...

I have a feeling that an experienced asari can control whether or not they get pregnant, but I think that it's very much possible that an asari like Liara could have it happen without there being a conscious decision. Having not partaken in a union before, she could get "swept up in the moment", so to speak.

I never thought of that, that could be possible, plus she is very young.IndigoWolfe wrote...

But I doubt that she has a child and is hiding it from Shepard. I mean I cant see Liara doing something like that.

Anyone else think it's rather dark back there? Seriously, it's like Liara was stuck in the dimmest closet on the Normandy. It would stand to reason that the research lab --I think that's what it is-- would be better lit.
I thought Liara's 'office' was just a repurposed storage area. Still, they could get some better lighting back there for her so she can see better as she's working on....whatever she's working on. Prothean stuff I assume.

Niether do I. I was saying that it *could* happen.

There seems to be different kinds of melding as well. Like melding for shared sensation for sex, melding to share/transfer information like with Shiala and Liara with the visions, and then melding for variation in reproduction. Considering the degree of control required to attune nervous systems, accidentally melding the wrong way doesn't seem plausible to me. Liara is also a top tier biotic, an Adept when most Maidens are either Vanguards or haven't pursued their biotics. Since asari are natural biotics because of their conscious control over their nervous system and physiology, it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that Liara is better at it than most.
Storing fertilized gametes isn't mentioned for asari, but I can't actually disprove it since it'd need to be stated explicitly one way or another for proof. Still there would have to be a way for those gametes to become fertilized in the first place, and melding for reproduction definitely is made to sound like an active process that happens in the moment. Personally, I'd assume they can't store them until it was proven they could.

I do not like the idea of Single Mother Liara however. I really hope that is not the direction they take.

I think she likes that room, away from everyone.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...
Does anyone else find it kind of sad that Liara has to hide herself away all the way back in the storage area of the med bay? I know she probably likes the solitude, but it doesn't stop me feeling sorry for her. That's why I have Shep speak to her as much as possible!
Plus my Shepard can talk to her without other people listening in on us, and she can see the doc easily whenever she feels tired from melding with you to transfer information, and when we meld for other purposes.

I always wondered what Dr. Chakwas thought each time I'd dash past her and into the backroom constantly. It would be nice if in the future your LI was in your cabin when you were and in their normal "designated" spot when you weren't. The back of the medbay at least doesn't require riding the elevator in ME1 and at least she gets to sit down while everyone else has to stand up.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...

Considering what people usually think of asari and how five minutes after she gets on the ship you have Kaiden asking you what you think about her and Ashley wanting to tease her about her sex life, I can't really blame Liara for hiding out. There isn't any species more sex-crazed than humans and it'd probably get really old fast putting up with that stuff in the confined quarters of a spaceship. Which is sad, because the codex even states that asari generally prefer communal living spaces on ships.

Maybe it's just the form-fitting dress, but Liara seems to have, uh...developed a bit, physically. Not that she needed any help in that department during the events of ME1.
It's definatly the dress, the scientist outfit seemed to have made her look a little...smaller in the chest area.
Especially since they was around that size when she was butnaked with Shepard. The dress seems to show off her...goods.
