Was it ever said how old Benezia was?

I was thinking, and she had Liara at a pretty old age it seems. Most matriarchs are at least 700 years old, and Liara is just 106 years old by ME1. Was just thinking about that...

I can't recall any mention of Benezia's exact age. Shiala does say that she followed Benezia for almost two centuries though, and Benezia was known by voice to the asari Councilor, so I'm assuming she was one of the most important asari in Citadel Space which would imply being closer to the high end of Matriarch.

I think it is safe to say that she was a matriarch when she had Liara, since Liara is 106 (in ME1), and Shiala has been a follower for almost a hundred years before Liara was born. Which is why I always say that if Liara wanted to really know who Benezia's partner was she could just ask one of Benezia's followers.

If Liara doesn't have any sisters, then that means Benezia probably never really entered the Matron stage like the typical asari progression. Which makes sense looking at Liara, she's not the typical Maiden. That's why I think the Matron stage is really one that asari can just turn off and on when they decide to have children. The progression given in the codex is the typical chronological progession for the average asari. Arguably, we could make up Maiden, Matron, and Matriarch progressions based on age for the average human female based on statistics.

And i don't remember who say that but there was claims that Benezia was very powerful even for an Asari standards and about identity of Lili's father... Shiala might known who she is but it's possible that she swore oath to Benezia never reveal such information to Liara. (i was by the way little confused that Lili and Shiala didn't show any signs that they known eachother but i think that was a simple overlook from devs side).

Perhaps Benezia and the other asari kept there relationship secret.
Remeber asari-asari pairings are not looked highly upon.

Yes... those two Asari near Barla Frontier terminal (where you can buy star charts and do Shiala's subquest) made me so furious that even my ultra Paragon Shepard want to shot from cain at them... and if somebody will try call Lili pure blood in Shepard presence then i am sure will spend lage sum of credits for new teeth .

And yes, if they ever said that to my Lili my Shepard would have thrown them over that balcony there.

Hmmm... that's reminds me by the way that apparently Nelyna was too pure blood Asari:o since her mother was in relationship whit other Asari too.

I hated listening to those two completely ripping on asari born from two asari. Made me so angry for Liara, but also kind of sad as that's what she probably had to endure as a child.

Poor Liara, no wonder she's spent most of her life alone.

I doubt she had to endure to much bullying when she was a child. She did say in ME1 that "no one was cruel enough to say the word to my (Liara's) face." As for other asari making fun of her behind her back, thats a different story.

I don't think there is as much stigma as you hear about. For it supposedly being so taboo there are an awful lot of purebloods and asari who have parented them even in melting pots like the Citadel and Illium. I think a lot of is a combination of PR playing up the whole "asari are so cosmopolitan and true citizens of the galactic community" and the vocal nature of mixed asari who have a vested interest in going on about how superior they themselves supposedly are.

We don't know what asari space is like, all we've seen is common ground like the Citadel, or a gateway world like Illium. Samara talking about Morinth escaping to isolated asari colonies or that one asari village she corrupted make it sound like asari/asari pairings are still the norm for a lot of them. Which isn't surprising since it is their natural means of reproduction. Logistically it'd make more sense for most asari in asari space to be purebloods.

I doubt if there was brave in off Asari to risk Benezia anger in direct "confrontation" but i am pretty sure that behind her and Lili's back many comments were made and very possible that those comments caused split up of Benezia and Lili's "dad" relationship.

EDIT: Many people watch at Benezia from Noveria perspective when in reality her downfall was happened maybe year or two before ME 1 events but before that she could be hard but very loving mother.
Even during last fight on Noveria when she regain her senses for a brief moment she says to Liara "You always made me proud"... if  despite such powerfull indoctrination she was able to say such things that speak for themself and her final Good Bye was really really sad:crying:

*sigh...* i sooo much misses hug interrupt there to comfort Liara but i made in that fatal moment silent promise to Benezia that no matter what i won't leave Lili and will watch on her:wub:.

I agree Benezia was ever a Matron, she went straight from Maiden to Matriarch.



A human analogy would be the career woman that parties it up in school; graduates and goes on a career fast track, until she hits 39 and suddenly realizes that she wants children and its getting late in the game. Benezia sure seems like one of these. I would theorize LiLi's dad is another such career asari and the joining was one of convenience solely for pro-creation purposes.



Liara probably had a lonely childhood which reinforced her own personality.
