Off topic but

Am I the only one here that killed the Rachni Queen and the heretics?
(And Im a paragon btw.)

I'm a paragon too, and I always saved the Rachni Queen.  I'm counting on her help in the 3rd game.
I saved the heretics too, but I'm a bit conflicted about that decision.

For the heretics, I just felt like the rest of the geth would be better off not knowing what went wrong with them, and who knows if they wont later decide to worship the Reapers again? After all the heretics did I felt like they should just be destroyed.

As for the Rachni Queen, the galaxy has believed that they have been extinct for centuries, and everything has been fine. I just cant bring myself to trusting that bug, and I feel like the galaxy is better off with out them.

Nah, my Shepard is mostly paragon, but rather pragmatic in matters such as these. It always annoys him that he allowed his personal feelings to influence such an important decision, but he just can't help it every time. ;)

Taking all the choices into account and creating unique and meaningful outcomes based on them isn't something BW has shown they are willing to do up to this point.

Yeah, Nozy, I remember you are the one who constructed that Excel spreadsheet showing all possible romantic combinations for ME3.  It was quite mind-boggling with all the possible combinations of ME1/ME2 LI's, cheating/faithful, etc.

I rewrote the heretics and saved the Rachni queen. The Rachni queen save was definitely a good choice after finding her rep on Illium. I was surprised they added that in, but it was a pleasant surprise.

Back on topic of the quote, that was an impressive collaboration of data. With all those outcomes, it's going to be very hard for them to come up with some very deep LI scenes. There's just so many variables. I don't know how I feel about that yet.

I still dont trust her.

As for the LI's, I hope that they take their time and carefully work them out. It would be nice for a lot of different outcomes depending on who you had as an LI in ME1, and who you cheated on them with.

I released the Rachni Queen and rewrote the heretics, too. I can't help but have sympathy for the Rachni after they were indoctrinated and forced the fight the Council races. They're a peaceful species, as the queen says to you on Noveria. Rewrote the geth heretics as I see it as similar to removing the brainwashing that a religious cult does to a group of human beings.

Basically, I listened to Liara for the Rachni decision, and channeled Liara's compassion and kindness with regards to the geth decision. Wish she was there to give me her opinion herself, though. :-(

The heretics however, came to that conclusion on their own. I cant know for sure that they wont return to that idea later. I am actually still torn on that desicion though. I really dont know if maybe I should in my run that I plan to import to ME3 rewrite the heretics...

And as for the Rachni, they may be peaceful now but who knows what they would do centuries from now. The krogan wont be able to stop them again if something were to happen.
And my real life hatred for bugs may have a little something to do with it.

I hope you are right.  If they have Liara go nutso and try to physically hurt Shepard or the new LI, I will totally FREAK!!  That would be completely OOC for Liara.  I know some desire this because:  A)  They want to see a 'catfight' and have their ego stroked (which is the point of catfights I think).   B)  They need a good reason to justify cheating on and dumping Liara (OMG!  Liara is crazy.... look what she did to Tali after I dumped her!!!   She soooo deserved it!!!!)

J I agree entirely. If they want to show consequences for your decision and to be "emotionally engaging", then they better damn well make players feel guilty for cheating on Liara. I really don't want her to go crazy and try to harm Shep, I want her to look absolutely distraught and emotionally wrenched at being treated that way after everything she's done for Shep. I know that sounds horrible, but I want people to feel guilty and feel terrible for trashing Liara like that, not feel some smug vague sense of satisfaction for it.

I always save everyone in ME, Liara is the main reason I never kill people who deserve it.
The Rachni seemed to be innocent in ME1 and BW proved it in ME2.
I also rewrote the heretics, the Geth probably need more soldiers for ME3 (I just imagine Liara is there with Shep, telling her what to do like on Noveria).
The Heretics are computers now under the control of the real Geth, I can't imagine they would ever be dangerous again.

Good lord, the wait for Liara DLC is going slowly... Probably another 2 - 3 months still. But, it will definitely be worth the wait when we are able to comfort her.

Heee heee...I don't think that sounds horrible.   They had better damn well make players feel guilty for cheating on Liara!   I think it would be a slap in the face to us Liara fans if they have her do something that could be seen as a justification for cheating on her.

jlb524 wrote...I don't think these confrontations will be unique depending on the characters involved.  You'll just get a generic confrontation scene.  This is due in large part to the sheer number of possible romance confrontations that would exist.  I think Jack and Liara will confront you, you'll pick one, the one you pick will continue as your LI and the one you do not pick will stop talking to you.  Therefore, the Liara/Jack confrontation scene will be the same as the Liara/Miranda one and the Ashley/Jack one, etc..  This is assuming these ladies will even be around and in your party....if not this might even happen over email :o

Yeah that's pretty much what I thought. Oh well I will keep this play through around anyways to see what happens, after all this is not my main play through or my main Shepard for that matter.

I've been playing some FFXIII and everytime Lightining speaks I keep thinking of Liara. It is actually a pretty big distraction, I cannot take Lightnining seriously. Everytime she says something my mind creates a big picture of Liara. Even when I'm playing another game I still think about her. Kudos to Bioware for creating the most beautiful, sweet, nerdy, lovable character ever. Not even ME 2 can change my opinion of Liara. She is the best.Image IPBImage IPBImage IPBImage IPB

Liarasexual is a great word, we need to contact one of the major dictionaries to get it put in there, lol.

Hell, the word D'oh is in there, why can't Liarasexuals be?

I guess FemShep would technically be a lesbian though.

Yeah, it takes some effort on my part not to always think of every Shepard as being a lesbian in a relationship with Liara (which kind of sounds bigoted, but also appeals to my sense of irony). I sometimes forget that there is even a Maleshep when talking about stuff, on top of forgetting that some people don't save the Council or shoot Shiala in the back of the head. So at least "Liarasexual" is inclusive of every Shepard capable of the sound judgement to choose Liara as a love interest. Plus it reinforces the focus on Liara; I might sneak a peak at Jack and Miranda's assets, or maybe admire the athleticism of the Afterlife dancers, but my Shepard is a one asari woman. Kind of like how people can have an effective sexuality of "married".

The only differences I can remember offhand in the games depending on your gender are Harkin's comments in ME1, the merc recruiter in Afterlife in ME2, and then Aria in Afterlife when she says something like "You need to relax, find yourself a nice man and have some fun". Which is kind of weird for an asari to be presuming the sexuality of someone else.

She tells you that when your a femshep?

For maleshep she says find an entertainer or something like that. Much easier to come by in the afterlife then a nice man.

Anyone want to make a pass at Aria?:D

(Although she would probably have her batarian friends kick you out.)

I really do think both games do a great job of not making an issue of Shepard's gender outside of the romance choices. Those three examples I listed are the only times I can really remember where someone in the game reacted to Shepard being a woman. Gianna doesn't kiss a woman, but you wouldn't know she is acting differently within the context of that playthrough.
The Aria comment gives me a twitch each time as well and I always think "What would I do with one of those?" And it is the only gender comment you don't have a chance to make some kind of response to. It just struck me as being out of character for an asari in general and it looks like those presumptions don't extend to her business practice because I only see women dancing on those poles.

Favorite bubble pic.

And that reminds me how we were talking about asari and nails yesterday, also noticed that Benezia has fingernails in ME1 when I watched a vid on youtube earlier.
Just felt like mentioning that.

I wish Shep could make some sort of sarcastic remark when walking away.
I like Aria, but that one comment she makes definitely annoys the hell out of me.

You would think BioWare might have noticed that some FemSheps are lesbians, you can even flirt with Kelly so it is kind of obvious.
I would actually have thought Aria might have known about Shep and Liara's relationship (I would assume criminals check up on people they meet) from when Liara met with her, that should have been an indicator to Shep being a lesbian as well.

Well that would require more dialog for her, what is she romanced Kaiden?
They should have just made Aria say find someone to keep you warm instead of specifying the gender.
