Liara has done nothing but 'take up arms' and fight in the past two years.  I doubt she just sits in her office all day...

I'm sure Nyxeris isn't the first person she had to fight during her information broker career.

It is situations such as this where my objective and subjective opinions are in sharp contrast. On the one hand, there was literally no way for Bioware to do the comic without canonizing something and they were well within their rights to choose Liara, since they are the game developers after all. But on the other hand... well, I think you can guess where this is going.

I do rather think that Liara is Bioware's golden girl. Between all the characters in the ME universe, certainly all the companions, it seems like only Liara and Joker have zero chances of dying. And I think even Joker's status could change in ME3. But Liara? I think Bioware are far too attached to her to ever let her go.

Well it seems like Tali is becoming BW's golden girl now...

As a love interest and important NPC, I agree.

As a squadmate, sorry, I'm not interested in having her again. Samara is far more powerfull and it is possible that Shiala (the green asari) will join the squad for ME3. That would be 2 asari in the team (Shiala being a Vanguard or something else and Samara/Morynth just a biotic powerhouse). Another asari would be just too much.

Don't get me wrong, I love Liara, but I don't really see her taking up arms again.

I dont see Samara as a squaddie again in ME3.
Shiala no, because its possible to kill her in ME1.

Morning..Just went through the comic Redemption #1, 2, 3 again and I really don't like that Drell Feron much, no matter how close Liara gets to Shepard he somehow hinders it, intenionally or not.

*sigh*

I know, and thats what disturbs me too

You know, I like Tali and all and the plight of the Quarians resonates with me...but I have to think the attraction the masses feel for her has a lot to do with the fact that you can't see her face.  She's unknown, and therefore can be anything anyone wants her to be.

Yeah, I like her as like a friend to my Shep, but nothing more.

The quarians are ok to me but I dont really care much for them.

Yeah, no squadmate from ME2 will be back as a squadmate in ME3. They all have a chance of dying so they cannot be anything else but a cameo, the amount of information and time needed to do it would make it impossible.

Liara has absolutely no chance of dying, I believe that if you don't help her find the observer, it will just make the DLC harder or it might come up in ME3. She will not die from it.
So pretty much Liara may as well have been offically comfirmed already as well as Ashely/Kaidan, even though one of them as to die the other one has to live, so there aren't as many variables.

Samara is definitely going to be gone no matter if she dies or not, she even said so herself and Shiala might be some sort of LI or maybe a crew member, but she will not be a squadmate.
BioWare would not waste time and resources creating squadmates that will not be there for everyone.
Can you imagine all the squadmates that would be in ME3 if they did? All of the ME2 squadmates + ME3 squadmates that have to be there just in case + Liara and Ashley/Kaidan. That would be a lot of voice acting and recruitment missions.

Thats what really makes me wonder about ME2's members coming back as squaddies for ME3.

BioWare just screwed themselves into a corner for that one. But they could have Tali go back to the fleet and their MaleSheps could visit her later in the game.
Although, they might have to make an exception for Tali and go the f**k you route for the other ME2 squadmates.
They could definitely give the ME2 squadmates semi-major parts if ME3 is going to be 100 hours.

I love Liara fanatically with all my heart, but some of those Talimancers kind of freak me out a bit, lol.

I promise to leave the thread after this, but I have a feeling that all the squaddies from ME2 (who are still alive) will have gone off on their own missions (possibly with Normandy SR-2) to prepare the galaxy for the Reaper invasion.

Hello fellow Liara supporters. First time poster in this thread but big fan of Liara and I definitely see her playing a prominent role in ME3. We already know that Bioware stated that they want the players LI's from ME1 to make it into ME3 so it's very logical why they all got such small roles in ME2. ME2 was about the reapers using their final resource to attack the species that happened to successfully stop them, so this game was a "suicide mission" and honestly who in their right mind would take someone they love on a mission where they could possily die?

I would assume you'd want to keep them safe right? Now on why I think any LI from ME1 will be in ME3 is really simple; Shepherd has stopped the reapers twice right? So when faced with an enemy so far that can't be stopped you find their weakness and you exploit it. That means any of Shepherd family, friends, LI are potential targets and I don't see any reason why this wouldn't be the case in ME3. Now specifically Liara, she thwarted the Collectors from having Shepherds body and obviously Harbinger should know this as he was always in control.

Makes sense to me that Harbinger/Reapers would want revenge against the one woman that basically helped Shepherd complete his mission on ME2. Well that's my opnion.

I agree.  If it weren't for the ME2 LI's and the Talimancers, I'd be absolutely certain the ME2 squadies wouldn't be back.  There are a lot of people who say, "Well, if they don't bring the ME2 squadmates back the second game would be pointless."  To that I answer, "Exactly...and it is."

But they are going to have a riot if they drop everyone from ME2.  They are stuck between a rock and a hardplace, and I'm not sure what they are going to do.

Honestly, I think you're welcome to stay.  You don't have to love Liara to be here.  You just have to be willing to engage in intelligent conversation about Liara related matters.

I just thought of something (thank you DarthRevan4life) Liara could be captured or something by the Shadow Broker in the Liara DLC and you have to find her and fight your way to her and endure a lot of hardships on the way to her, just like she did for Shepard in Redemption

Don't sweat it, just remember the thread is titled "Liara as a squadmate in ME3". It's not just an LI thread, although that's what it becomes when the majority of us Liara fanatics are posting together. =]

@ Lord Zeuss

Believe me, I would have preferred if the comics would not be about Liara. We have come to the conclusion that one reason why the Liara reunion scene in ME 2 is so terribly botched is because the game was pushed out of the door before the comics were released, and they didn't want to spoil anything.

This problem would not exist if for example Ashley would be the star of the comics, though I wouldn't wish on her fans to be treated like we were. At least you got recognition of the romance and a little more content where it matters: IN the game. (Or should I say "we" got that, because I like Ash and her romance very much too.)

I wonder if giving her a deep cameo would satisfy her fans.  Something meaty, but where if she was dead she would be replaced by another Quarian.  Like maybe she becomes an admiral in the fleet and you interact with her and get her to bring the Quarians into the fold to fight the Reapers.  But if she is dead they just use a different admiral.

And you give the romancers a little something something to acknowledge the relationship (not a confusing scene where you can't actually talk to her...I wouldn't wish that on anyone).

They would also need a romance conclusion.

They really dug themselves into a hole in this one.

I definitely wouldn't mind either.  Sure, I got them all safely home at the end of the game, but I honestly don't care if I never see any of them as squadmates again.

OK.... "suicide mission" over. Termi-Reaper dead. Humanity saved. Can I have Liara back now?

With the exception of Mordin, I loved having him around, and Samara. I'm partial to Asari.
