Agreed. Even the codex mentions that during the Asari's rise out of being a primitive species, they sought to understand one another instead of going to war usually. Most of them share the same political and religious views. They're far more peace oriented than other species.

Right...now they're no different from humans.

Yeah, it seems like everything is more and more out of character in ME2. Maybe it's just the terminus systems though. I'm sure that would change ones outlook on life. Perhaps things will go back to normal if we're in council space in ME3. I think most people forgot that we're no longer under the same galactic society as the first one.

I wouldn't mind if Kelly taught my Shepard those stripper dances so I could perform them for Liara. It'd be nice to be able to do something like that for her. It is all cool being a tough space marine, but kind of sad when I notice things like my gut sticks out as far as my bust in my Dr. Chakwas uniform. So it'd be nice to sex my Shepard up a bit for Liara in some way.

Well to be fair, Illium is the asari gateway to the Traverse.  In asari space it is probably considered something like a spring break location.  So you're going to see a lot of wild Maidens running around being "cool" before they settle down a bit.

it keeps bugging me:

if you had ONE chance to give Liara ONE ITEM as some kind "wellcome-back" gift when [it's obvious to me that she will] Liara will return to Normandy, what would it be? [just "prothean stuff/artifact" is too casual i think]

what are your ideas?

maybe the Asari just send all the bad girls to the Terminus systems so they cause less trouble at home
or... something...

Yeah, that would be great. Shepard finally being able to dance.
I bet that would change the reunion completely, imagine Liara's suprise when Shep walks in and starts performing a strip-tease for her.
Shepard should be able to sex herself up for Liara!

@WilliamShatner:
Yeah, that line from Hale was great.
We need to have more lines like that for Liara when she is happy again.

I thought Tali was going to be a f/f romance, I guess they cut it out though.

Her personal effects from the Normandy.   Specifically anything she took from Benezia's body on Noveria and had with her on the Normandy when it was destroyed.  I always pretend I recover that stuff when I do the Normandy Crash Site and give them to Liara on Illium.

Do you have a link to these mods handy by chance?  I want to wear casual gear outside the Normandy but haven't been able to find that mod yet.

I've tailored my file from several mods, but I think you can find everything here:

http://www.masseffec...es.com/mods.php

Also have a look into the modding thread, though it's hard to find anything specific.

First and foremost, I give her a big Smooch--------then show her the fish tank, her pic on my desk, and "My Bed"

Sorry to just burst in here and post, kind of like a drive-by.  I know some of you spend a lot of time in this thread and I don't want to offend other players that share a common interest along with myself (Liara), but I would like to comment on a couple of thread topics:

1. Male Sheps and Female Sheps:  A lot of games find me playing a female toon at least once, not sure why, I like looking at a well done female form I guess...no really good reason.  But in ME, I have only played a single female shep in either 1 or 2.  I live vicariously through my male Shepard.  I like being the male Shepard.  As a matter of fact, my avatar is a pic of my male Shep and he very closely resembles what I look like in real life.  I have about 7 playthroughs and I do have the one where I stayed loyal to Liara.  So I guess I took offense at some folks saying that male Shepards are the suck (paraphrasing of course).    My male Shep rocks!   :innocent:

2.  Asari portrayal in ME2:  I didn't have too much of a problem with how they were done in ME2 because their history or the lifespan of an Asari is well documented.  Maiden stage, Matron stage, Matriarch stage....the youth are wild and incorrigable, seeking to find themselves (I got the impression that Liara was/is a book worm type of person), then they settle down, take a mate, family, all of that stuff (remove their tatoo, let their face go back to it's natural blue), and finally the matriarch stage.  I think ME2 focused more on the maiden stage for most of the bit players.....except for Samara.

Anyway, sorry for the long post, I justed wanted to participate a little.

I would give her something from the heart. (Shepard would perform her special lap dance for Liara!).

Something that would mean everything to her, maybe Shepard writing her a poem or something, showing that even though she is a though marine, she loves Liara so much that she can actually put her emotions into a poem.
But, it would definitely be something that shows Shepard's complete love and dedication to Liara.

If it didn't have to be an item, I would want a conversation with Liara, telling her how Shepard will always be there for her and be there to help her with anything.
And that she loves Liara more than life itself and would never let any harm come to her love.
An emotional conversation would be amazing.

I think no one would say that female or male Shepard IS better, it's all opinion. Just like thankfully at least in this thread, no one bashes other characters. What would be the point?

I would like if people stopped calling their PC a "toon" though.

The female Shepard thing for me is mostly just a symptom of years of bitterness from being forced to play male characters in games. Or when you do have the option to be a female and there are romances, there aren't any romances I'd be interested in personally and that kind of attention is annoying in real life without having to roleplay wanting it.

The number of games where you can play a cool guy who gets the girl is a HELL of lot higher than the number of games where you can play a cool woman who gets the girl. So I tend to be a bit enthusiastic in my affection for Femshep, and specifically Femshep+Liara.

I  doubt it.  She's an archaeologist.  She had already set up the rest of her life at a very young age (before Shepard came along).  She had likely been groomed beforehand by Benezia to be a Matriarch, but instead Liara went off on her own.  She's very independent, and after meeting Shepard, very un-Asari in her life philosophy.

Oh I can confidently say female Shepard is better.   Jennifer Hale is a much better actor than that male Shepard bloke.

Also all my attempts to make a custom male Shepard failed miserably and they tend to look like that guy from The Goonies.  I can't stand seeing that meathead BioWare use to promote the game.  It angers me everytime I see him!

That's the same way I think.
I am really tired of the badass guy gets the hot chick ending to video games (or even a testosterone filled maniac *cough* Gears of War *cough*).
Even though some of the games are good (GTA IV wasn't bad or anything, it was pretty good, especially for a game where you play as a badass emotionally repressed gangster) I actually have a really hard time playing as a male character in those games where you are forced to no matter how good they are.

And of course, when you actually do get to play as the female, she always gets the guy...
It is great to be able to have the, as you said, cool woman gets the girl in BioWare games (other games like Fallout 2 as well from what you have said).

Not only can Shep be a lesbian, she can be a lesbian who can actually romance Liara!
Half the time in other RPGs, you just have to RP it. As there is probably only one line in the game where you can show you are a lesbian.

I honestly just love Jennifer Hale's voice though.

I like the idea of Shepard giving Liara her personal belongings found at the wreckage of the Normandy. Whatever Liara was keeping to remember Benezia by, perhaps a gift that Shepard bought Liara at some point. Maybe a picture that Liara was keeping of the two of them having fun on the Citadel during a date.

Imagine Liara's reaction when Shepard gives them to her. "Shepard...thank you. Thank you so much. You do not know how much this means to me." Then a single tear of happiness trickles down Liara's cheek and she embraces Shepard warmly.

Awww, would be so sweet!

I like roleplaying as a male if I can roleplay a 'suave, sensual, but compassionate' rogue type of character.   I can do this in most fantasy settings.   DudeShep, though, just comes off as the typical testosterone filled Space Marine.   Meer, unfortunately, adds no emotion to his VO and DudeShep just sounds flat and uninterested when he's trying to woo the ladies.  FemShep is almost the same in every way as DudeShep excepting that Hale brings some emotion to her character.

To add to that, I think Shepard's actions and comments, which are mostly the same for both genders, come across as more awesome when Hale delivers them or they are done by a female avatar.  Femshep doesn't come across as a woman acting like a man (which was a danger), but instead as a very strong woman who is sure of herself and her role, and doesn't take crap from anyone.

Its very refreshing and quite frankly very attractive.
