Honestly there are two characters i can't (despite all my mind will) stand are Carth (aka Kaidan) and voice of male Shep... EVEN taking under factor fact that i am male.

I tryed once male Shep but he sound for me like emotionless Vulcan then passionate human..., when Hale can pretty nice modeling her voice.
In ME 1 when i talk whit all sqaddies she was able to pass her voice to each character, in ME 2 in the first moment i was little shocked how sharp she sound during talk whit Veetor but on the other hand he was too scarred over what happened in colony to used any other "type" of voice.

I honestly just love Jennifer Hale's voice though.

I adore her as well.  She even plays two love interests in Planescape Torment.  Deionarra and Fall from Grace.  Deionarra's line of "I shall wait for you in death's halls, my love." still gives me chills.  Fall from Grace reminds me a lot of Liara; they're both intellectual, emotionally mature, caring, and atypical of the normal behavior expected from them (Fall from Grace is a succubus).  They place a great deal of value on friendship and aren't afraid to wade in and kick butt when the time comes.  Liara recovers your body and Fall from Grace swears to reuinite you with when you pay the price for your deal with Ravel.
I don't have any opinion on how it compares to Meer.  It just doesn't matter to me since I never hear Maleshep except outside of a Youtube video every now and then.  I do think that default Maleshep has a freakishly hugeass head though so I kind of have trouble paying attention to what he's saying because his large melon distracts me.

I am really tired of the badass guy gets the hot chick ending to video games (or even a testosterone filled maniac *cough* Gears of War *cough*).

I like roleplaying as a male if I can roleplay a 'suave, sensual, but compassionate' rogue type of character.   I can do this in most fantasy settings.   DudeShep, though, just comes off as the typical testosterone filled Space Marine.   Meer, unfortunately, adds no emotion to his VO and DudeShep just sounds flat and uninterested when he's trying to woo the ladies.  FemShep is almost the same in every way as DudeShep excepting that Hale brings some emotion to her character.

I have to disagree with you here.  Meer is fine, and actually, if you play more renegade, his VO stuff is really good.  Hale can be good in spots, but just like Meer, her delivery is sometimes as deadpan as his.  I don't think it's a reflection of their talents but of how the story is done.  I mean, they record "I should be going." once, and then that response is used in a multitude of instances in varying conversations.  Sometimes their voice inflection and delivery just doesn't fit the situation.

Very nice pic! Liara has such beautiful eyes!

And I completely agree with your sentiment below. Just two weeks to go now until the final issue of Redemption, so hopefully we'll hear something about the Liara DLC sometime after that. Can't wait!

To add to that, I think Shepard's actions and comments, which are mostly the same for both genders, come across as more awesome when Hale delivers them or they are done by a female avatar.  Femshep doesn't come across as a woman acting like a man (which was a danger), but instead as a very strong woman who is sure of herself and her role, and doesn't take crap from anyone.

Its very refreshing and quite frankly very attractive.

Yes, I agree Hale does make FemShep great. She has an amazing voice.
I just have trouble playing as a male character no matter what, for some reason, I never give a rat's ass what happens to him and I find the game to be kind of dull. That's just me though.
I always hate how some games are just m/f romances, I just ignore the romance unless it is f/f. I can't RP romancing another guy.

Meer definitely gave a blank performance from what I have heard on YouTube, at least Marcus Fenix grunted in several different ways throughout the game. Hell, the Master Chief could go from pissed off to very angry at one point.
Not that people are not entitled to play as MaleShep, this is just my opinion.

I have to say, whenever I hear the words Space Marine, I want to yell, "Send in the Dreadnoughts! Landspeeders deployed! For the Emperor!" :D

I don't think so. Actually, there was a video floating around that shows how many different recordings they made for Shepard's "What's this part of the ship?". Was another of the situations where I wondered why they could record so much stuff, but not a single line for Shepard, Liara or anyone else that mentions the romance.

Overall, Meer did a better job this time around, especially w/ the Renegade options.  In fact, I think he did a better Renegade speech for Tali's trial then Hale.  I also agree that both are lackluster when it comes to lines like "What is a krant" or whatever.  If I had not played ME1, I think I would have no problem w/ Meer's voice in ME2.  I just couldn't stand it in ME1, so I went w/ femShep.  Because of that, to me, Shepard will always be female.

Now that is another beautiful picture of The Beautiful Blue Goddess.<3:wub:
Her eyes are beautiful. :wub::wub:

Yeah, I am pretty sure we will hear news within the next four weeks about the Liara DLC.
Waiting is the hard part, but the longer the wait, the better the final product. (That means more Liara for us!) :D:wub:

I have to agree. I played through ME1 and 2 as dudeshep and I noticed a huge difference in his voice acting. It's like he finally got into his character for the second installment. Femshep did good both times though, so you have to give props to Hale.

I think no one would say that female or male Shepard IS better, it's all opinion. Just like thankfully at least in this thread, no one bashes other characters. What would be the point?

I would like if people stopped calling their PC a "toon" though.

Oh I can confidently say female Shepard is better.   Jennifer Hale is a much better actor than that male Shepard bloke.

Also all my attempts to make a custom male Shepard failed miserably and they tend to look like that guy from The Goonies.  I can't stand seeing that meathead BioWare use to promote the game.  It angers me everytime I see him!

I can't make a good male Shepard to save my life.  In fact, Dragon Age is the first game I've played where the male character doesn't either look like a goon or the mutant hellspawn of He-Man.

Speaking of voice acting, do you think Ali Hillis was flat out told to make Liara's voice slightly deeper and more breathy for ME2, as part of the "dark and edginess"? There are definitely parts when she sounds exactly like she did in ME1, like when she opens up to Shep and tells you how she saved you from the Shadow Broker. It's good to hear Liara speaking in her old tone of voice.

I've noticed this with a lot of games. They make the female characters proportional and good looking, the males not so much. Back in the days when I played WoW, I hated male characters in that game. They all looked like arnold schwartzenegger with downs syndrome. I couldn't make a decent looking male shep custom. I went with the default look.

That lighting in her office is totally screwed up. I was messing around editing the colors on my Shepard out of boredom one day; like gave her "embrace eternity" eyes and asari blue skin. But depending on where I stood in Liara's office my skin color would go from asari blue, to slate grey, to a chalky peach. It was crazy.

Interesting. I thought they just ruined her skintone. I noticed in ME1 how many scenes had ambient blue that just made her glow, I want that back.

No, she just looks sleazy. I've never really had a thing for sleazy women I like classy ones WAY better. Plus I actually think she looks a little uglier than the real Liara.

Depends on the frame we're speaking of. Some of them I don't really recognize as Liara.

If they'd have given Liara her freckles in the comic, it would've looked alot more like her IMO.

Not only in the office. The lighting, and shadows too, look really odd at several points. It must have to do with all the effects that are supposed to look "cool". I've tried several things, but it's never been perfect. This was never the case in ME 1.

I don't know what to think of the voice direction after hearing Femshep's greeting to Jacob sounding like she was grinding against that table she leans her backside on.  I always thought it'd be kind of hard to pick up a character again after a couple of years and get the voice right.  Especially if you don't have a lot of lines with that character.  Like I think Shiala sounds plain bad in ME2, nothing like she sounds in ME1.
